I just want to start a compilation of found Tetractys Art on the Internet. There isn't too much out there but there is some. A lot of it is mathematical or part of sacred geometry or magical symbol pages and so on.

Note: Anyone adding to this collection please include a link to whatever website you found it at:

I think it's within range...thin pickin's thus far. I knew it would be thin but this is ghastly...

my own stuff is just about the only damn thing out there that's very interesting...

anyway...thanks for your additions...a few good snags so far at least.

String art anyone? The black and white post by dragon reminded me of a vision of the tetractys I once had, so I decided to figure it out and post it here :

I'm in the process of doing some R & D on a new project and
I started experimenting with m1thr0s' design of the TwinStar...

I initially wanted to extrapolate his
original design into a tetractyl form...

But I couldn't resist doing some variations...

{Did I mention that I used to design kaleidoscopes...?}

http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q48/MythMath/twinstartetractyscopy2.jpg

m1thr0s,

I don't intend to use any of your original graphics in a final design (natch ;) )...

These are just studies for a potential project that I wanted to share here...

But if you feel I shouldn't directly appropriate your work even for
these examples, please PM me and I'll remove or replace them...

You've shown me a similar image of a chain of Trees...

Is this also referred to as Jacob's Ladder...?

Kain,

You've shown me a similar image of a chain of Trees...

Is this also referred to as Jacob's Ladder...?The glyph usually referred to as Jacob's Ladder is this (poor and sloppy way of portraying it but I haven't really gotten around to redoing it) :

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v249/Goyios/Forum%20stuff/JacobsLadder.jpg

It essentially portrays a more detailed process of manifestation through the 4 Elemental Worlds, giving a whole Tree for the representation of each one.

However, I had some time ago compiled a personalized version of Jacob's Ladder which actually is very similar with the image you have just linked. It can be found here (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v249/Goyios/Forum%20stuff/TOLMatrix.jpg). I had also pinpointed a Lo Shu-like formation (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v249/Goyios/Forum%20stuff/ogdoad2.jpg) built by this entanglement of two Trees in such a ratio, which I felt was a ratio representative of the relationship between Macrocosm and Microcosm and their essential relationship.

I've seen that done by a guy named 'Warren Kenton' who has a Jewish title of some sort... (Oh here it is: ben Shimeon Ha'Levi (Nuhad's Best friend! ;)))He wrote 'Adam and the Kabbalistic Tree'... it's pretty cool, he links the four worlds together into a big long meta-tree... Made me wonder what would happen if we then looped atzliluth to assiah, making a wheel in tha same way Crowley describes "marrying the father to the daughter to re-stoke his fire..." or some such: Basically making a wheel out of tetragrammaton, rather than a vertical hierarchy... but here's their site (http://www.kabbalahsociety.org/). I like the idea of stacked interlaced trees...

Edit: looking closer, they really look a little dubious... but still the tree thing is nifty...

That's from whom I had originally read about Jacob's Ladder myself actually, Halevi's The Way of the Kabbalah...interesting writer.

Do you think they chose the design (or it was chosen for them...) just to look cool, or with some thought to the concepts behind it?

A little ditty by the Quaternionist Sir William Rowan Hamilton

THE TETRACTYS
Or high Mathesis, with her charm severe,
Of line and number, was our theme; and we
Sought to behold her unborn progeny,
And thrones reserved in Truth's celestial sphere:
While views, before attained, became more clear;
And how the One of Time, of Space the Three,
Might, in the Chain of Symbol, girdled be:
And when my eager and reverted ear
Caught some faint echoes of an ancient strain,
Some shadowy outlines of old thoughts sublime,
Gently he smiled to see, revived again,
In later age, and occidental clime,
A dimly traced Pythagorean lore,
A westward floating, mystic dream of FOUR.

now that's kind of interesting since the traditional Lo Shu starts with 1 at the bottom and most western depictions do the same. I have had some pretty specific reasons for starting with 1 at the top but have not ever seen anybody else doing that...does this mean my own work is beginning to infect people?

nah...maybe...nah...hmmm...

I don't know MM...I spent a lot of very unhappy years in marketing but it taught me a lot about the snake-oil business in general...something I have never excelled at myself mind you...

but what are these cats really doing but repackaging things that have already proven to have a certain market value...slap a glitsy new label on them...spin 'em around a few times and presto...brand new "ancient knowledge"...

I used to do the same shit with products that people had got tired of...it was my job I mean...I rather hated it but I was pretty good at it...so I sort of know the drill.

I can tell you for a certainty it's a whole lot harder to push a product nobody has ever seen before...most of these cats wouldn't touch trigrammaton with a ten-foot pole...hasn't established itself well enough already...

so is that *skeptical* or just plain honest...

edit: I should probably stipulate that art is sort of like that anyway...always redefining itself etc, so some of this is perfectly legitimate. I think the real question is whether the meat of the project/product lies with relevant new directions or is actually just a weak rehash of long established constructs.

I actually saw one outside yesterday, like yeah, I know, not on the web, I tried to get a picture of it....

It was on this japanese maple I had hung my bellydancing chain on the day I did the stargate ritual last year - july or something. SO the thing is still hanging there, and there's a row of egg casings something laid there on the other side of the branch the bellychain is on...very very tiny little eggs, the size of a speck of sand you know, and of course I noticed the tetractys, it's not perfect but I couldn't take a picture because my camera lense is fucked up so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Anyways there's this tiny orange thing sticking out and I poke it a little bit to see what it is because it looks slimy and I wasn't sure if it was some kind of fungus or an insect phenomenon. It turns out it was some kind of assassin bug nymph trying to hatch and it went ahead and wiggled out into the sun in front of me, and stretched out its legs and antennae very very delicate looking, and I thought, "that's nice..."

My garden is crawling with spiders, assassin bugs and praying mantises, which is very fortunate for me since I don't really have to work very hard to keep the garden running anymore.

Then I did a taurobolium ritual in the same spot this afternoon...then I realized later nymphus is one of the Mithraic ranks...it may mean nothing. I had planned this before I saw the assassin bug nymph though.
