View Full Version : Shapeshifting

With the shapeshifters... I thought I read that you had to dream of your animal first and then the(native american I think it was) had to go out to hunt it in order to take and wear its skin. Or something like that. I remember reading something along those lines because I was shapeshifting in dreams lots and I wanted to know what other cultures thought about it. With my experience I used to get hunted and attacked by a creature quite often which usually gave me nightmares. Anyway I got annoyed at being hunted(because I was lucid dreaming very well)and so I really focused on hunting it back. And the next time I dreamt of this wolf creature I went lucid and cut its head off with my katana. And I never dreamt of it again. But what I found afterwards was that I could shapeshift into it.. and slowly I learned to shapeshift fully into a wolf in my dreams by simply running on all fours. It's pretty easy. Anyway after I was given the lion in a similar but different dream I found out that I couldnt shift into a wolf anymore because now I just shift into the lion instead. Like whenever I run now in dreams I shift to lion... which is pretty trippy because I was like a dream wolf for over 10yrs. I've also recently found that when I was in the water in dreams, I shifted into a crocodile and a great white shark. So I look at those forms as like when the lucid lion swims kinda... or when it hunts.

Anyway.. that is all probably more suited in the dreaming threads... but thats how I learned to shapeshift. :)

How did you guys learn to?

I have shapeshifted in my dreams, but most of my shapeshifting happens when Im awake. I'll go into more detail later, for the moment I just wanted to get this thread up and running

Hey cool. :)

And I would love someone to start a thread on how they learned to shapeshift.. I would really love to read how others have managed it and learned to do it too..

Now fire away everyone... I would love to read your techniques hey. And everything that you have managed to shift into so far, and what you gained from it etc.

Also how do you shapeshift when your awake?

I employ different forms of shapeshifting. I might visualise myself entering the form of a bird and flying around the streets of my town, or the body of an animal in any location whose geography I am familiar with. With chemognosis I have invoked the spirit of whatever animal had resonance with me at that time. Likewise if I need a certain energy, especially in confrontations both physical and psychic, I will invoke/shapeshift into an archetypal animal. Outdoors at night in the wilderness I tend to be a lycanthrope, especially around the full moon. By lycanthrope I don't mean wolf, which is a different energy alltogether. As to dreams: I once had a nightmare in 1991 where to resolve the nightmare situation I became a Werewolf and cleared the place. Since then I have been able to control, manipulate and edit my dreams.

how do you shapeshift when your awake?

Basically, invocation.

My animal is the coyote. I was made aware of this long before my dreams. I don't really know anything about shape-shifting, though I do have two books on it I need to read sometime. But my dreams about it happened a while ago. They were pretty basic I guess, in the dreams I was going in and out of a house that I don't recognize and was shifting between human and coyote form. I remember being in front of a mirror at one point and seeing myself shift. It was really pretty neat. At the time I assumed that the dreams reflected some sort of inner real-izing of my coyote nature. I never really considered that it was something I could work with and develop... So I really appreciate that I found this thread. I feel inspired to read the shape-shifting books I have.

Hmmmm interesting this should come up.

When I was a young woman and just starting to flex my magickal muscle I had shapeshifting episodes that were utterly uncontrolled. It sucked not to mention socially awkward.

I started to get control over it with the help of a really remarkable woman from the Colville Reservation in Washington State. She was great and got down to brass tacks in a big way. The form (jaguar) not only affected ME but also acted much as a fylgia form (think fetch). Again...without control on my part...OOPS

So...A few of us were staying with this woman for a few days and the first morning up she stumbles out and says unbidden: OK which one of you assholes does the big cat belong to??? It was in and out of my window all nite.
Get a leash on it before I boot your asses outta here....I needs my sleep.

Well I fessed up and she worked with me for a week on control techniques which I needed so desperately and provided me an experienced sounding board that I had been sorely lacking.

I still have the Lava rock mortar and pestle she had gifted me with at our parting and cherish it.

I took some amazing pictures yesterday of one of my shapeshifting forms...er, well, Greg took them of me. You should have seen the look on his face when he couldn't get a photo of me but when he took pictures of inanimate objects they looked fine! I left the camera in the car though so hopefully I can upload them tonight and analyze them close up.

It's weird Kazahel, seems as though we share multiple forms/similar experience. Could mean anything, but I found it interesting that I also use shark/crocodile/lion/wolf and serpent too. Puzzling, really, as I only have one other form I commonly use. Correct me if I'm wrong...but I think we both know we can "grab" whatever we like and fetch it through. But it's interesting that we both chose/were chosen if you prefer to take those ones.

My mother always tells me never to share my power animals because people can use it against you. That's a bit of an native thing, you're not supposed to talk about any native power/medicine stuff and people will actually magically attack you for giving secrets away, not unlike some Western lodges. But I feel very comfortable on Abrahadabra so I think it's ok and the research is important. This shapeshifting thing keeps coming up and in the mainstream humans even, it's arising as the anthro/otherkin scenes. I'm not too familiar with them, but the seem to be rather spiritual if even in a shallow and frilly sense.

Aaahh hahahahaha!

My animal is the coyote.

Interesting - while I don't shape shift, coyote has always been very important to me. In fact, in High School I would go "survival camping" in the Ochoco Mountains for a month each Summer. During those trips there was one coyote who would follow me around, share my scraps, and occasionally snuggle up next to me inthe middle of the night and wake me up with his incredible foul breath!

That is interesting.. especially with the crocodile... I wouldve thought you wouldve been a alligator because you's dont get crocodiles over there do you? Mind you, we dont get wolves over here so yeah. But I'm not sure if I can just grab anything I like though... it seems as if I dream of the creature before I later shift into it. The crocodile was the only one that I didnt do that with though.. that one was really out of the blue. Also I cant shift into a serpent(or I havent tried)... I guess because I usually run to shift, so to shift to serpent I would have to slither instead or something. I look at the serpents as not really a shifting form though... because I dreamt they went down my arms like tattoos... and they wernt really a thing to shift into. The lion was given at the same time for me, so it was more like the lion was the shifting form with rainbow serpents inside. Kinda.

I'll share some of my shifting dreams, just for a read I guess..

The first time I shifted I dream shifted into a very tiny fish.. I basically was having a lucid dream and I saw a small stream of water(like a puddle).. so I dove into it and thought 'fish'.. and when I hit the water I had shrunk down to this little tiny fish. So I swam in the puddle which was all murky and I couldnt see so I thought about going somewhere else.. then instantly I found myself swimming straight down under the ice waters of Antarctica. Which scared me because it was very dark, so I thought about moving on and instantly again, I found myself swimming in like caribbean waters.. but I ended up seeing a native spear fisherman who was trying to get me, so I just swam in amongst the reef trying to hide.

Then I had the dream I cut the head off a werewolf which had been hunting me for months. After that dream the next time I went lucid I just knew I could shift into it. So I tried and I noticed straight away that I grew. I was bigger and much stronger but I went pretty wild in the dream... like I just killed everyone around me because it just seemed like what to do at the time. Anyway I did this for ages... I would go lucid and shift and then run around and kill for the night because it was a thrill basically. Somewhere along the lines though I was running in this form, and for some reason I just put my hands down to run even faster, and when I did that I fully shifted into a black wolf for the first time. Which was a wonderful feeling... it was much better than the standing wolf form. So that became my new thing... I would go lucid and then I would just run as fast as I could.. and then at peak speed I would place my hands down to fully shift. It worked a treat. So I did that for ages and slowly my wolf mellowed, I even changed colour slowly from black to grey to white.. it seemed as if when fully shifted I wasnt as angry like a standing wolf. Its kinda because it was just so much fun to run in that form that it makes you not as aggressive. So I had about 10 years of lucid dreaming where I mainly shifted into the wolf.. and over that time the wolf only mellowed and in the end I was trying things like howling and stuff and my changed colour to almost fully white in the end. What I also found was after ages of lucid dreaming and then running to shapeshift, I would sometimes have normal dreams where I would be running and then during that I would place my hands down to run faster which would then shift me into the wolf which THEN made me go fully lucid. So the running ended up being used as like a trigger into going lucid. Which was a bonus.

Sometime during that time I also shifted into a vampire abit... just to try it... it was like a standing wolf shift but I flew in the air. The first time was very gory though because that shift made me really angry. I think because I dreamt someone was trying to break into my house... so I tested out a vampire shift on them. lol. And bascially the first guy I picked him up by his neck with my teeth only, and I flew in the air and just had him hanging there screaming. So I kinda ripped my teeth outta him which took half his neck away and I dropped him from about 3 stories up. Meanwhile the other guy was almost at my front door... so I tried vampire speed thingy.. and it worked really well and it was like time slowed down as I moved. Anyway I caught him near my door so I pushed my claw through his chest and pulled out his heart to show him. Which I took a bite out of to freak him out, and he sure did look pretty freaked. It was like a warning for any other dream characters in future.

Anyway then years later(around the time my wolf went white) I had a semi lucid dream/vision thingy where I was taken to a big lion in the sky who had a rainbow above him. I basically got pulled into the lion and when I was standing inside it, I reached my hands up to feel the air kinda... and when I did that it like disturbed the image and it all kinda spun around me. Then I noticed a green serpent running down my right arm and a red one running down my left. They were very loving and you could just tell they were nice and not to be feared. Anyway after the heads finished on my hands, my arms were just like fully tattoo'd in these colours and funny patterns. It was really trippy. And the next time I shifted I just shifted into the lion. Like I didnt actually try to shift either... I dreamt I was showing someone else how to run in a dream and how to shift, and as I did that I actually shifted, and THEN I went lucid. So I naturally shifted kinda. And I could feel the difference straight away... it was better on the cornering bascially.. like your claws stick into the dirt better I found. Anyway so I checked out my body and looked and I saw I was a fully shifted lion(I was only small though)...my tail was moving like crazy too and I couldnt control it which was trippy.

Then not that long ago, just out of the blue, I dreamt I was a crocodile swimming in murky fresh water. I didnt go lucid until I saw a human trying to crawl out of the water. When I saw him(he looked like a soldier), I instantly went semi lucid and because he was just starting to crawl out of the water I had to act fast. So without thinking I just swam up really quickly and I even walked on the land just briefly so that I could reach him and drag him back into the water. So I grabbed his legs and did that and death rolled him, which just seemed to come so naturally.. it was a great dream because I really felt like I understood how the crocodile works.. he is somewhat lazy and sneaky. Anyway as I was death rolling him I could see all my teeth but not alot more because of the water.. and when I saw my teeth it made me understand that if I want to take another human I had to shift into something that could eat quicker.

So I placed my feet together and turned them into a tail, and when I flicked it to move I fully shifted into a great white shark(which I had been dreaming about ealier). It was really easy and what I found was that the shark moves very quickly and its very powerful but mostly I had the biggest mouth I've ever had(which felt really strange). Anyway the water then changed to more like the ocean and there was a female swimmer who was about to get out of the water. So being like jaws I went for her. It was a classic scene from a movie hey... I swam up from under her and I could see her legs kicking etc.. And as she was about to climb the ladder to get onto the jetty I grabbed her and started eating. That was really strange hey... she was like a fleshy water bomb.. blood went everywhere and her legs got kinda stuck in my teeth so I had to shake my head very fast(like you see them do)..to get them unstuck.

So yeah.. they are some of my shifting dreams and how I do it.

I've also been a tree which was very peaceful but alittle boring.

My animal is the pan-thera. this means "all animals". but is also the black panther- actually I myself dont shift into animals but I can do so by borrowing friends forms like the panther or spider. normally its not necessary. I rarely think of it. Im a human/demon/god/alien type. I work more on energy and empathy or choose to be "not defined". In dream I use no animals for movement- (its too slow). Maybe cause I dont come from a "native" tradition, dunno. Never have thought about this and maybe I should. I like animals in my normal life; what I detest is unnatural behaviour torwards them: I talked to my dog as if I talked to a human. ;)

p.s. oh yes just remembered: tiger is really ok with me too. (esp. sabertooth)

 made me laugh Kazahel. Those are some really powerful medicine dreams huh? You're in Australia? Arn't dingos "wolves"? I always thought well, serpents are everywhere...you have that there...but well Manabozho (Lord Rabbit) he must be god of Australia because the rabbits are so huge there....and he's a weirdo. Ever see him in Donny Darko or as DoomGuy's pet? I dunno. Yes, crocodiles, not alligators, I'm not much of a conservative when It comes to native american stuff or the 'right' animals. I believe in preserving the original religion for posterity but I can't be bothered to chain myself to any one system, I regard each of them in turn as jewels in case and I take what I want from each.

I didnt think dingo's are actually wolves.. like they are the native dogs to Australia, but yeah I've never dreamt of them before. And I'm not sure what you mean about rabbits.. but I wouldnt say our God would be a rabbit. That would be most silly. If anything it would maybe be the Rainbow serpent.. or where I live.. the Wagyl maybe.

Anyway.. So have you shapeshifted during lucid dreams much? Or is it more of an invocation thingy for you?

Lovely creature. Pity it's extinct.

Today, in the hopes that the Tasmanian Wolf is not truly extinct, the Australian Conservation Foundation offers $100 just for a sighting of the animal's tracks. So far, there has been none.

We call them Tasmanian tigers though.. its just if anyone asked an Australian what a Tasmanian wolf was, we would wonder if you meant the tiger. I figure you know that anyway, but I just thought I'd say, so people dont go around calling them Tasmanian wolves. lol

Like for everything, for shapeshifting you must establish a base...

Your first experiment need be a little simpler than "poof you're a panther"...

Lay on summer grass.. relaxing slowly into trance...
Open an eye.. See a blade of grass.. Get one with that blade of grass...
It'll all be clear when you get into it...

In my blade of grass experience, I was laying on the grass in princes island park in Calgary, on a warm Sunday... I was into the blade of grass so deep that I noted my roots were my head in the ground.. and my arms and gills reached to the sun...
I was just getting into how I make food, with sun, water, and elements, when a german sheapard, in full gallop, ran right smack over me.. hitting me with four hard paws.. and it flipped head first, and rolled... It glanced at me in total shock, as if to say, "Wow were you really there?"..

I suppose if you play "the blade of grass" game, you'll want to be someplace where there isn't any traffic...

The dog must have seen me as a blade of grass...

__________

My scariest shape shifting experience happened when two remote viewer Toronto dudes attacked me in a sent dream...

The young cop began to draw his pistol, and In a flash I changed into a tremendous beast, which in a flash leaned over him, and bit his head off, and spit it a couple city blocks away, seeing its head bounce off a building... Before his headless corpse fell, I turned to the other cop, eying his still holstered weapon, and his hand too near to it... I looked right into his eyes, and gave him a little warning growl... The intensity of the growl even startled me...
He sure looked scared, like he was about to wet his-self, or already did...

I wonder what having his cosmic demon's head bit off would do to that bully's remoting abilities..?

Cosmicbrat

Seems someone took that above post as a sporty challenge...
I pulled an all-nighter last night, and was sleeping in.. when two witch vampires, and a warlock vampire wrapped me in a cast dream this AM at 9:20AM central time.. which indicates that they either do their remoting as a corporate think tank, or they consume cold pizza and beer for mondays' breakfasts...

In the dream they took my shoes, and were about to chase me out into a dark stormy unstable forest.. as a key ingredient of a crucial ceremony of essence transference... Problem with that is that I love the forests, and the forests love me... and I didn't have my backpack on...

The major female witch claimed she had something in her blood which her son was to take of her when she died that night.. I can't recall the term she gave to it..? something like "capar"..? which sounded a little too "star-treky"...
She played the whole part quite believable... They all did... It was as if they were real, but the textures of the dream were not the textures of my dreams.. a dead giveaway that AH remotes were messin' with me...
I put on a new pair of shoes, and as I quietly exited their abode, I deleted their base.. turned invisible.. and gently pushed wooden kisses into their hearts... It was all done before they knew it was happening...

I just can't recall what missy hancho vampire called the thing that was flowing in her blood... She sure seemed serious... Too bad she had to die in flames, she was probably good for a couple good rockemsockem BJ's...
I tugged on mumma Sun's aka, and lit up as bright as the sun... The three vampires smoked and burst into flames...

It seemed the lady vampire's son was the essence of the Dracule... He resembled gates and beck, and cnn's drifter... She was one gutsy little bitch.. but I sensed phoniness in her storyline, like it was the first time she had told the story.. like she was desperately ad libbing, is when I metamorphed into Helsinger, while they were gloating over speculative expectation of a successful kill... In a flash I embraced each vile entity whilst tenderly lovingly pushing a stake into its heart... They never knew what hit them... That's gotta leave a nasty migraine, and a huge emotional scar.. and maybe worse..?

I have no shields, only connections to reality, extreme weaponry, and lightning reflexes... They didn't realize that I have installed a reliable alarm system, which wakes me the moment a cast dream is in process... My systems are attached to all my Being's weaponry systems, and to those forces and sources I have befriended, and to the essence of Life itself, which be my defense over that which resides in death and around death... Their mistake was that they believed I fear death as do they.. when it is that I see death as my best friend I have yet to fully embrace, given that the tool "death", is the moment I transform from this hell, into the rest of Life...
They failed to grasp that death is but a segment within a rung on a ladder, while they believe death is the ladder... Seems they embrace death as if it is a way of life... Sounds a lot like christianity defending itself from truth... ay fricken aymen...

There was something about a runaway truck in the dream.. and other stuff, not yet clear enough to put into words... It was an interesting build-up, but too along the lines of "dick & jane" to be taken seriously...
While they were playing out their dream, I was powering up... Seems they didn't have the slightest clue as to who I am, nor my capabilities... They figured they could bully me as easy as pulling the head off a mouse... Strike three mindless bloodless vampires... I wonder who those three assjoles were..?
I'm bets that a trio of unwashed gamy remote viewers, finishing up their bagels and cafe "lotays", somewhere in hell on earth, are experiencing three extreme nasty migraines this very now, this lovely fresh spring morning...

Now it's my turn to play, babies... Your homes will sink into the newly forming crevace.. Can you feel the tremors yet..? Your bloodline is thus tagged as dragon kibbles... Mudslides anyone..? I'll give you lessons in how to send nightmares, puppies... Oh We are going to have so much fun together in the coming days, like face-off, and kick the can... Best you lock your doors and windows tonight, break-out the bibles, and recite all your prayers, till even your prayers are spewing blood...

Shapshifting is not, "I want to be", as much as is it, "How it feels to be"...
In that, uncle eienstein boobooed, when he stated "you can't wish it done"...
Essentially he must have been a little bit mindless in the ways of sorcery...

Shapeshifting is not bound by any rules, nor cosmic laws... Shaping trumps law and matter...

Shapeshifting is probably the greatest rush the human can experience...

I suspect that the only drawback in shapeshifting, would be that if someone touched you while you were in process, the shock might very-well cause you to suddenly release your bowels on the spot.. unless you are practiced in being touched whilst in deep trance...

If you are to play these games, it is a good plan to practice ultra deep trance whilst riding the subway... Everything happened during my subway practice trance lessons... The worst being that the bus driver slammed the brakes, and a huge falling fat lady drove her spike heel into the top of my foot, and sat Splat! in my lap.. and it seemed for a moment she believed she had fallen into a comfy vacant seat... While she sat on me, she tried to make herself comfy... I shoved her back hard... "Get the F off me cow!".. Upon realizing what she had done, she apologized as she pulled her spike heel out of my foot... I replied, "It's ok, I have another one".. and I dove back into trance, to continue the experiment.. in hardening my emotions to be able to sustain any situation and any touch, while in deep trance, without sustaining any shock...

Just a word to the wise.. Establish a solid base before you take sorcery out into the world.. or the moment your base is stressed, it will crumble... I can't stress this enough for you would-be wannabe sorcerers... It's time to quit talking about the inaccessibly speculations of it, and time to get yourn hans dirdy, reinforcing your base.. and maybe even restructuring it..?
Without a solid base you are nothing but dreams and shit.. like a caddy made of toothpicks and flour glue, going 60-miles per hour in a thunder storm...

Vampires are incredibly arrogant but they're not that stupid. I wonder why they attacked you? Wannabes or something I suppose?

Sounds like a fun night, actually. Well not for the Starbucks vampires. :)

It's true...so many people want to jump right into shapeshifting or other shiny arts but they do not yet have the solid base needed to support this work. The understanding of the universe, of the laws of creation and also the absolute fearlessness required to apply these tools properly. Then there is the other extreme, the armchair magician, constantly reading and theorizing until it gets to a point where it is doing nothing but theorizing and studying. Either one is risky....both slowness and speed. It is possibly most important to understand the way of zen.

Black skinned bipedal humanoid but not much else Kazahel, most of my shapeshifting is a conscious choice during waking projection. Usually I'm just human-like, except...different.
