It is stated in the TwinStar 001 and elsewhere that there are 19 paths within the TwinStar. It is unclear to me what this means. A "path" in graph theory is defined here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Path_(graph_theory), but I sense you mean something different than that m1thr0s. In general, there may be some useful terminology from graph theory that could be applied to "leyline engineering".

I have no idea how this can be confusing but our reference point here does not come from graph theory so much as simple plane geometry I think. In conventional qabbalistic terms, a path would be a line connecting any two points. What sets the precedent to paths may vary. In the TwinStar, they are defined as lines of force resulting from our counting system. In the Tree of Life these paths are based on the 22 letters of the Hebrew Alphabet, arranged symmetrically. There are 22 such "paths" in the Tree of Life and 19 such "paths" in the TwinStar. The Wiki article actually makes paths seem a lot more mathematically challenging than common sense would imply.
At least insofar as the TwinStar paths are concerned, the term "leylines" is as good as any term I know and is useful because it suggests lines of magnetic force, in this case established by our counting system.
What exactly is the point or need to be splitting hairs in this way? While it might be interesting to know that there might be some parallel terminology we could use (and indeed there might) there is simply nothing wrong with the terminology being employed already...
In any case...from what I can tell, graph theory doesn't seem to resolve this very well. How would graph theory define a line between two points only? That's what I am not quite getting from that article...when does and "edge" become a "path"?
edit: it should also be recognized that occult terminology and scientific terminology may not always be the same simply because they are emphasizing different kinds of things. graph theory is not interested in the energetic interplay between points whereas occult interest is very high in this respect. The occultist doesn't just want to know that a "path" exists but also wants to know what kind of path it is. The term "line" might altogether suffice the scientist but will not work for the occultist who wants to know the vital nature of the endpoints as well as the energetic interplay between them. So the term "path" will always mean more to the occultist who is not just trying to connect the dots but also trying to apprehend their natures.

In retrospect, this was a silly question to ask. Thanks for the clarification.

well I may simply not see the point of it...I am always interested in technically accurate terminology. It is true, however that the the two usages of the term "path" are not really the same...
