Well I kind of dissapointed myself lately. The whole mysticism thing did not work out. Turned out to be too much mental masturbation(kind of wore myself out and had to take a 2 month break. I am going to purge my current
practices and start anew from lessons learned. On the upside the last 6 months have been very helpful overall.
I currently starting over with simple meditation. I am going to read up a bit. I am starting with a mix of Taoist,Occult and Laveyain stuff.
Anyone got any good recommendations for Occult books or web sites along these lines?

Apple Jack I've run the gauntlet with meditations for eight years. From the get go I've been looking for power through it. Finally found one that actually works, gives a deep sense of bliss with a high level of concentration to match. I guess you could say it's a breath linked mantra. Everytime you breath out through your nose you mentally hold your mind on that mantra( I'm just counting " one" for now)until the end of the exhalation. Only note the out breaths. I tried counting my inhalations and exhaltion and found myself getting tense. The out breath is the only thing needed to get to a calm relaxed state. I use to do alot of zen breath-counting and found it rediculiously hard. I just could'nt relax because I had to keep count. When I switch it to just counting one it just became easier. This is a path to complete mental absorbtion. My mind is now quiet and I'm amazed that my Luciferian beliefs are still intact. I'm not saying I believe I'll develop magical abilites( or siddhis) but with a calm mind in a world full of mindless robots, I'm having fun if you catch my drift. The new agers have made a sham of meditation, with there dumb smiles, and have turned it into a carebear adventure. This is an old way of meditation, one that get alot of flax from buddist, because they say it lead to bliss with no meaning, no wisdom, just a deep trance levels of bliss called jhanas. This is a path of concetration. Alot of buddist are more concerned with awareness training. Some forms of concetration are used as tools by them, like a rope into the mind, to reach the Absolute ( Satori) but mostly it is just looked upon as a tool for corruption of the ego. Thats why I picked it. When the bliss hits, your in the moment, and the ego is yours. Thats the only magic I believe in and if there is a Lucifer( I hope there is) he would like this path just fine.

Do most mystics really spend all their time living inside their heads (engagin in "Mental masterbation")? Pity. I suppose it's a good thing I haven't really met other mystics.

I'm sure it's mainly a question of how you define the word...People into tantra are often defined as mystics and I doubt that most of them have this problem...

Starting over is a natural part of ANY learning process...analytical theorists (such as myself) start over all the time. Knowing when and how to start over is actually a hallmark of experience. It doesn't invalidate your path, it just upgrades it.

Think I'll start over also, crumbling a bunch to dust.

Materialistic life, indulging, this dimension, normal mundane things + some artistic work. Will be quite the vacation from this overly mental masturbation with all the god voices and other shit. Ehhe. Fuck'em all here I come

For a nice clean and simple foundation to magickal/mystical practice, I suggest reading either Liber MMM by Peter Carroll (found at http://www1.autistici.org/amprodias/secreto/Peter%20Carroll%20-%20Liber%20MMM.pdf). It is the first section of Liber Null if you're interested in looking further into the rest of the book. Another approach which is nearly identical yet a bit more to read through is Aleister Crowley's Liber ABA (namely part one on Mysticism, which can be found at www.hermetic.com/crowley). Both of these are primarily focused around the practice of Asana, Pranayama, Dharana, Dyana, and Samadhi. Enjoy, and good luck.
