Does anybody else here play video games? I'm currently playing Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne which I'm really enjoying. It's basically a turn-based RPG, but the party consists of demons that you can convince to join your party. You can then let them level up and fuse them together to make entirely different demons. It's very interesting. After I'm finished, I'll probably take a short break from the series though even though I've already purchased the next game. I never finished playing Metal Gear Solid 2 and I want to finish that one before I play 3, which I want to have finished before 4 comes out on Playstation 3. I also want to play through Castlevania: Lament of Innocence again before the next one comes out.

Unfortunately, I play through these games very slowly because I have a full-time job and too many hobbies. Does anyone else play video games? If so, what are you playing right now? Any suggestions (like I need more on my plate)?

That game sounds cool.

Currently I am playing World of Warcraft and not much else, although sadly (or fortunately, more likely) I don't have the time to play much now since I came to uni. Nonetheless, when I get some free time then I play that. I am utterly addicted, haha.

So, are you from the UK, Australia, or New Zealand? Just a stab in the dark.

Of course I play video games. Violent, demonic, hate- and sex-filled video games. It's un-American for a seventeen year old not to. ^_^

I don't know if you happen to have a GameBoy Color, Danisty, but the game Dagon Warrior Monsters is similar. In stead of fusion, you breed them. It's pretty cool, methinks.

No, I don't have a GameBoy Color. I've never had a GameBoy at all, actually. Actually, the only Nintendo I've ever owned was Gamecube which I gave to a friend about 2 months ago. The only reason I got it in the first place was to play Twin Snakes.

I so need to get that, by the way. I need to see Cyborg Ninja in better graphics. ^_^

the only video games i play are pretty old skool- i have a supernintendo from when i was in highschool, and i play a lot of grandtheft auto three- and mod it which is actually more fun then the actual game. And i play return to castle wolfenstein and the online game for it.

I scarcely spoke with Phosphoros for months...he was playing Warcraft.

I play mostly old school games, too, when I play them at all. Tetris, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis...the most recent game system I own is the original Playstation, and even that I didn't bother playing often.

I do like these plug and play consoleless games, such as Tetris, Ms. Pac Man, Galaga, etc.

I'm more of a chess man.

It's called the Sicilian, my friend. That's why you you always move the pawn in front of your king.

How American!
I prefer to exhaust my opponent, leaving only a few pieces on the board before claiming my victory.

Your "shock and awe" campaign will get you nowhere with me, boy.

Chess is one of those things that seems to bore me very badly when I get forced into playing, and yet I usually win. I don't always play with the best players though, but hey, a W is a W.

I would LOVE to know how to do a 3 move checkmate as I was under the impression that its not possible.

I know how to do a 4 move checkmate where you lead with the Pawn/Queen/Bishop/Checkmate lead but I was not aware you could do it in 3.

Please, tell me more.

Has anyone seen that game Shadows of Collosus? At first I wasn't interested, but I saw it on G4 and now it peaks my curiosity. The basic plotline is appearently some maiden that you are in love with dies, and you ask some dark power for assistence. The dark power will give life to the maiden if first you kill the collosuses (collosi? I don't know), which are some type of god-like beings. The dark power even allows you the use of "dark arts". Could be interesting...

Ico was a really early PS2 game. It was a puzzle-solving adventure game. By the way, I've checked, and this is the sequel...should be pretty good.

I saw a bit on this on G4. The representative said it wasn't a direct sequel, but definitely a "spiritual successor."

All I know is that I didn't miss the LHP references in the game description, so it peaked my interest.

Smackdown vs. Raw 2006 comes out soon, and I've been eargerly awaiting. With the promise of a better character creation, His Infernal Majesty, Lucifer will rise again! All will fear his devastating finishers, the Fall from Grace and Twist of Cain! Mwahahahaha!

Wrestling games always have the best character creation engines. I don't know why. I can't personally stand wrestling, but it's fun playing the games just because you can really make almost anybody.

The WWE can kiss my ass but I can spend weeks screwing around with their character creation in the games. It's addictive. I'm glad they don't have a clock on that game like they do on RPG's. I'd hate to see how much of my life I've wasted.:D

Shit. I wasted 50 bucks. This game is nowhere near as good as the last one. They changed too much. *sigh*

I've been playing a 1995 MS-DOS game, Discworld 1, the first Discworld series game ever to be published for the PC (as the text adventure The colour of Magic was for Amiga).

As for more recent titles, a Dead or Alive 4 tournament from time to time is a classic value...

Age of Mythology.

Involves building armies and destroying the enemies. You can be Egyptian, Greek, or Norse gods, and rule over an army of undead or mythical heroes. I prefer Zeus as you can get the medusa, and with 15 of them freeze any army that comes along.

Yes, it is a continuation of the theme, but directed towards the mythological. you have powers that are seen amoung belief systems. makes for a great concept.

I personally like to play the 2D Castlevania games. I think I'd even go as far as saying that it's my favorite series. Resident Evil 4 was really good too. I love RPGs, and the most recent one I've played is called Riviera: The Promised Land. I'm thinking of getting a PS2 when it's price drops again to help get more of an RPG fix.

The old forum (Cabal Lux Ferre) had a skin featuring some art by Castlevania artist, Ayumi Kojima.

If you pick up a PS2 for playing RPGs, I must recommend Xenosaga. The first one is better than the second (and the third is coming out this fall and is supposed to be much better than the second one).

When I was a kid, I used to play alot of text based adventures and stuff. Anyway, THIS game was rather exceptional, and may have alot to do with why I became a magickian. Check it out: Fool's Errand (http://fools-errand.com/).

Yeh, I hear the second one was disappointing. The storyline in the second one was just as good as the first, but the battle system wasn't nearly as good and the side missions were annoying. If you play the first one though, you'll probably end up playing the second one to find out what happens. The first one leaves you with more questions than answers.

I also want to pick up the new Valkyrie Profile that's coming out for PS2.I've never played that.

BTW, how did you end up liking Shin Megami?Funny thing, actually...I haven't finished playing it. My PS2 broke several months ago and I didn't have the money to replace it until recently. It was such a long gap I started over. I'm nearly finished with it now and I absolutely love it. It's got a great plot and it's fun fusing demons. The music is pretty cool too and it just happens to come with the soundtrack on cd.

I've never played that.

Basically, you're a valkyrie who can sense when a spirit of a warrior is near death. Then you go and recruit the spirit of that bad-ass warrior into your army to help fight along side you in Ragnarok. I thought it was pretty cool back when they released it for the PSOne. And now they're making a prequel!

Yeh, from what I'm told, the character designs and the story are quite good. And I really like the whole post-apocalyptic atmosphere. If I get a PS2, I think one of them is a definate buy. And there's a third one coming out soon, I think.

I've got that game (or some "Call of Cthulu" game) for X-Box. It's pretty sweet. You just see what the character you're playing sees. Instead of a life bar, when you're injured you see red and your vision blurs. There is also the possibility of going insane, and instead of a sanity bar you get less agile and your vision blurs. You can go nuts and start shooting off your weapon (if you have one) and may even commit suicide if you go too bonkers. It's a pretty creepy game and can get pretty intense.

I was totally addicted to GTA: Vice City. It's such a fun game. Road Rash II for Sega Genesis is a classic. I also used to be a Shining Force series junkie, including the precursor Shining in the Darkness.

I don't really play video games very much though. I've got a couple games that are fun but I've only played them a couple times. Mercenaries, for example.

Waiting for Neverwinter Nights 2. Hopefully the storyline is much better than Nwn 1, which was very awful. Hate those linear Final Fantasy type storylines. Seems that they made better games before the whole thing turned into $$$. Got a problem with playing things as I see the energy that is connected to the whole game. Or the impulse behind that game and it can get quite unnerving these days to see what kind of crap ppl have spilt into the games. Or atleast I think I see them, might be another schizophrenic personality-type inside me pulling it's jokes :D

Anyway NWN 2 has got great visuals for magick hehe.

Some games I've really liked as a kid:

Starcontrol 2
Dark Lands
Fallout 1 and 2
Baldur's Gate 1 and 2
