So there's a short version a long version. I'd be interested to know what peopel think of each. Many peope say the short version only is real. Here's one version of the short version:

1) The truth, certainty, truest, without untruth.
2 )What is above is like what is below. What is below is like what is above. The miracle of unity is to be attained.
3) Everything is formed from the contemplation of unity, and all things come about from unity, by means of adaptation.
4) Its parents are the Sun and Moon.
5) It was borne by the wind and nurtured by the Earth.
6) Every wonder is from it
6a) and its power is complete.
7) Throw it upon earth,
7a) and earth will separate from fire. The impalbable separated from the palpable.
8) Through wisdom it rises slowly from the world to heaven. Then it descends to the world combining the power of the upper and the lower.
9 )Thus you will have the illumination of all the world, and darkness will disappear.
10) This is the power of all strength- it overcomes that which is delicate and penetrates through solids.
11a) This was the means of the creation of the world.
12) And in the future wonderful developements will be made, and this is the way.
13) I am Hermes the Threefold Sage, so named because I hold the three elements of all wisdom.
14) And thus ends the revelation of the work of the Sun.

I like it... THe short version itself in very commitable to memory... THere's such a strong resonance with Plato here, eh? It's really a recipe for projecting a total Hermetic mind enclosure (and the darkness shall disappear), and erecting a 'virtual reality' of forms and fire... Now as this is the revelation of the work of the Sun, its father, it'd be nice to know what the work of the moon is in this context. The threefold structure of the Shou is emminently applicable to, Since this is basically the story of 'Man' becoming a contact point for heaven and hearth... And thus the temple of human consciousness is crafted, eh?

I'm not so sure about a work of the moon though personally...The Illuminator certainly has a very detailed creative/manifestational work to accomplish, yet the moon could be said to act as the passive receptor/pole making this active procedure possible by it's static nature and existance. Giving the creative procedure a place to stand on and for it's fruits to take place. Just my opinion though,

Once, in a time past, I approached the great Barrier, and saw on the shores where time exists not, the formless forms of the Hounds of the Barrier. Aye, hiding in the mist beyond time I found them; and They, scenting me afar off, raised themselves and gave the great bell cry that can be heard from cycle to cycle and moved through space toward my Soul.

Fled I then fast before them, back from time's unthinkable end. But ever after me pursued they, moving in strange angles not known to man. Aye, on the gray shore of Time-Space's end found I the Hounds of the Barrier, ravening for the Soul who attempts the beyond.

Fled I through circles back to my body. Fled, and fast after me they followed. Aye, after me the devourers followed, seeking through angles to devour my Soul.

Ah...Dr. Doreal, -another lightworker from Colorado. That state seems to have a penchant for producing them - must be the rarified air. The complete version http://www.energygrid.com/destiny/emerald-tablets/index.html of this came to us in 1925, and I always kinda liked it, it's very poetic and resonates well with me at a conceptual level, even though it's historical value is suspect. I credit Doreal with being the first of the red hot new agers, which is a bow to him, as he was 60 years ahead of his time.

I've never heard of the long version but I think the standard (or "short") version is important. For one thing, it's where we find "as above, so below" which is considered probably the most fundamental Hermetic axiom. I had a specific translation of it memorized at one point (the one promoted by the BOTA), but I prefer to contemplate several different translations now. Actually, OC, I find that passage very evocative... I like it alot... It's not the emerald tablet, as far as I can tell, though.... it's really interesting... Lovecraftian in a sense... It's interesting the juxtaposition of the angle and the curve, as it implies a mind-body dualism, warning of the rise of materialism divorced from the spirit... The whole passage 'decodes' rather clearly and beautifully into a description of our current social/psychological dillema, I think... Thanks for posting it... I wonder if there is a 'proto-line' which can collapse into either angle or curve... THAT would be an alchemical gemstone...

Well all you need is the short version, so in this sense it isn't that short. On the other hand the longer version, if it can be called that, is very poetic.

On a sidenote anyone thought about the opening phrases of all the different ET resemble the USA swearing in the courts: I swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God!

Does it actually originate from this, coincidence or what? Anyone read anything interesting on this? It is not disputet that some of the founding fathers had a little occult knowledge, but did they draft the swearing in the court?

And here is more news the Newt was right about the Bigger and Smaller Picture...the Macrocosm and the microcosm.

Today his same equations are being used in a completely different domain, the MOLECULAR world.
