does anyone here practice these? do you think they are beneficial, if yes how/for what?I've been practicing very close or at cases identical excercises with these, as dictated from the Hindu Yoga perspective (which is quite similar). I think those are quite rejuvenating practices indeed, both in a physical and subtle context. Physically, they improve blood circulation and flex muscles that have a quite powerful effect at the nervous system (and thus the mental state). Some of them (like the 2nd and 4th) have a particularly powerful effect in intensifying the processes of the bowels. On a subtle anatomy context, they help efficiently resolve very common energy blockages at subtle channel junctions found in the excercises' influence points. Thus, they increase the potency of energy circulation around the body in a subtle yet powerful way.

They are most beneficial as a warm-up for more direct energy work/meditational practices however, as by themselves their effect may not prove enough.

Hey cool, I've just been re-reading Kraig's Modern Magick, and just got through his discussion of those techniques last night :)

I think that any stretching, limbering, balancing, and core strength exercises can't help but be useful, as to why, Kain said it very eloquently!

Yo Chaka,

Yeah, I did the Five Tibetans for around 6 and half years starting at age 23. They're cool. Powerful. The first Tibetan (where you're spinning) is the most important as it physically does lots of very useful things:

Spin free the sexual energies up and down the spine. Ida and Pingala activations.

Draws in energy from base, or grounds energy from base (depending which way you spin)

Most importantly, causes your expanded light bodies to spin, most specifically what is referred to in some of the literatures as 'circles' or 'spheres'. Having your spheres turning fast clears your karma, and is a bit like Aikido done in big, in terms of psychic self-defence is superb.

Then you move energies between chakras and balance the chakra amd endocrine / nervous system out with the other four. IT's like a full-body 'tuning' without having to do it yourself thru focused intent, because the mechanics of the exercises and how they inter-relate to each other cuase the energetic changes themselves. A bit like a cross between how hatha yoga and Chi-Kung purport to work. Kinda appropriate given that the Tibetans were developed historically between India and China.

They energise the body and keep its abilities within the ability set of an active 19-23 year old, better even after some continued practice. However, this effect on thier part is mainly due to the increased energy-level state of the body that this series of exercises brings about with continued, daily practice. It's a bit like an accelerator device: builds on previous momentum.

That's the other big thing with them: the other exercises do 21 or more times, but not much more really. The first one though, just keep spinning for minutes at a time. I time it by songs: eg three songs of spinning, one song's worth, etc. Also: aim to get the spin going really fast. Be strict on form first: you must be able to spin in one position without deviating from that set spot. Then up the speed till you can spin as fast as as you can with no loss of balance or orientation. More you put into the spin, more power the rest of your technique (exercise set) has.

With time, you then activate the four spiralling routes (Ida, Pingala, then two more, pretty much the same as the other two, just in opposite directions). Then the exercises begin to produce actual youthing as opposed to re-enrgising. By this stage you should definitely be spinning in both directions, at least for some of your day's practice. And generally, fine tune the exercise set as comes to you daily once you have internalized its insights and forms. To get the full immortality effect working you need to activate 16 of those Ida-Pingala routes. Also pretty sure that has effects on the DNA in some way, cuz they look the same, just more strands. You will be meditating on these energetic structures and moving them consciously by the time you're activating all 16 fully, ie the power begins to just surge of its own accord, even if subtly. an interesting side-note is that the faster you do the spin series overall/consistently, the subtler and gentler wil be the energy release when you come round to the 12-activation, or the 16-activation, and so on. Compares notes on these with some students that I've had on these, done a few workshops on them in New Agey type circles over the years. Do occasionally get some insightful people o those sometimes...

The other things to get into would be Chi-Kung and, perhaps, look at Taoist Internal Alchemy. Mantak Chia's system actually works for that, once you learn the Greater Kan and Li, and he just sells it to you for, like, really little money when you come right down to it. I find that kinda funny: 'Here, have immortality for $3000 (plus some time and application of your own)' <No thanks, I'd rater buy a plasma TV> *shrugs* I learnt my Taosit alchemy through that first, and my teacher there (whose reall birth name given to him by his parents, with which he was baptised is actually Vladimiros, ie Vlad for short) has now decided he's attained physical immortality. It's all White Cloud's doing... *shakes head*...

The other people who actually do this stuff all the way and teach it openly are *shrugs*, who knows...

So, wanna be immortal Chaka? Is that what attracted you to these exercises in the first place? It does alter your perspective on things cuz you're like 'Well, if not this year, then next year, or a hundred down the road.' Relaxing, chill-out sort of thing then. All the women like it too, it's really shiny to them as a present, even more so than money and gemstone stuff. If you're interested I occasionally teach a workshop on 'Youthing and Imoortality Practices'. Get someone to arrange me a workshop in Istanbul with at least 20 participants and I'll come over there to teach it to them, and you plus three friends are in for free :) Delegate to someone else to do the footwork though, there's people who do these things and are quite happy to do them. They can get 8-20 per cent or smtg, more by PM if you like this idea.

If not, stick to the 5 Tibetans and maybe look into Mantak Chia's system too :)

all the best,
Oazaki.

Hey Oazaki, thanks for the input and others too. I dont think I intend on achieving physical immortality and keep on living here forever :) But this can help with other stuff I intend to do. It'd be really nice if you did that workshop thing here, just for the fun if nothing else but I hardly know any occult, spiritual practice people here since real ones are hard to find and silence is power. But I'll let you know if such a thing becomes possible.
