Hey guys,

My band Pleasure The Priestess just released a new track titled "Unending". It's currently in it's instrumental version for use in an independent Vampire movie coming out later this year. Vocals will be added to it for the album version and the instrumental portion may be thinned out and clarified a bit in parts. I'd love to get some feedback if anyone here is willing to take a listen. Here's the URL:

Thanks!

eesh...this is like an invitation to blow your own foot off or something...

I will tell you the truth as I feel it to be the case and you will either hate me or respect me for being ballsy enough to do so...

At the level of technique I like it but there's a hole in it I can't quite place...like you need another influence that would push your sound right over the top. It's like you folks are sitting there poised on the edge but not quite going where you intended to go...

powerful backgounding...excellent engines...perfectly tight and tuned...and still there's this freaking hole...I can't quite put my finger on it...

xst...there's probably no damn way that sounds encouraging. It actually should...I could point you to maybe 1000 bands in Seattle that sound a fuck of a lot worse, which is probably why I am trying to figure out what seems to be missing...

anyway...that's the straightest shot I've got for you Luciftias and I am no musical genius or anything so take it with a grain of salt... I think it's cool as hell what you all are doing...I really do...

I like the band name, I like the intended use of the music, I like the connections with Vampires... I don't honestly get the music, and I know pretty much nothing about how to put music together... but generally enough, like it a bit, not a favourite, but see potential there, and like the focus / direction. And the name of your band man, that is just sooo cool. Mebbe could work on a collaboration there, am working with organising some Temple of Venus musical things and festivals, mainly frame drumming in this field, but Zohar (http://www.noasmusic.com/whoswho.html) is quite well known internationally from that crowd, and it seems to have quite strong potential for being funded by government bodies and things, and they are looking to branch out and go more mainstream... Dunno if that sort of thing might appeal to you, but if you're already working on movies in a way, then there is potential there I think.... Looking to be moving this sort of stuff ahead come around October / November I think, and really, as I said, I'm just involved on the outskirts of that, but could serve useful purposes on both sides I think... so, maybe something to bear in mind perhaps?

Good luck with the progress of the musical scores and nice to see the direction, I like it and it pleases me :)

all the best,
Oazaki.

I like, but you need better quality Piano in the opening track. Like HIM's Piano was very effective. or the ones on 2Pac's tracks...sounded real. This sounds like keyboard piano.

Also Ultra is good but it needs a louder clearer sound to the main beatline and some diversity. There's a desert of repetition going on at some point and the little bit of timid piano doesn't serve to relieve this. Towards the end, when the piano and beat lifts up, why not get rid of the noise in the bg (ie clean it up) and then let it shift back into the song. Just keep tweaking it (sorry I don't know music so this may sound completely ignorant)

Haha. I'm not like some people who ask for feedback but are actually only asking for praise. If you thought it was perfect and loved it as is, I wouldn't complain, but you can actually learn something from the people who are comfortable enough to express the little thing that they think is "off". I'm not looking specifically for the opinion of trained ears either. We make this music for everyone, not just other musicians. I always appreciate real feedback. Thanks.

Yeah, we all feel that, actually. We would like a 4th member, for instance. Preferably a lead guitarist. The main songwriter has been doing lead guitars, but that's his secondary instrument. He would like to focus on just singing and some keyboards. I'm very confident in his composing. This new song, Unending, was written in the shortest amount of time that any of our songs have ever been written. I think it was completed up to this stage in just two weeks. It's going "as is" into the movie score. We didn't get professional mixing and mastering for this version, but plan on doing so for the album (band album, not talking about the soundtrack album.) This in itself will definitely help make it sound a lot closer to something that should be on the radio. I would be interested to hear what you think of the song once we complete the album version. I'd also be curious about your thoughts on a live version (even just recorded at a live venue.) Both will be different from the instrumental and from each other in various ways.

Thanks for the feedback Oazaki. Where are these festivals going to happen?

I like it... happened to get the 666th play... heh heh... reminded me a little of some of the stuff Delerium has done... a bit crunchier.... comes in waves and waves... a certain monotony to it which might be helped by a few departures from the main tune... I'm no musician, though, but I listen to this style of music quite a bit... I tend to like the wacko industrial stuff the best; Coil et al... I always like to be suprised... It's really nice, though, and I mean that...

Israel, Cyprus and Sicily slated on the table at the moment. Looking at Germany and Argentina too also... but it's a few friends of mine who are organising that side of things really and I don't stay in contact much there when out of Cyprus. Will let you know as things develop if interested :)

all the best,

Hey, thanks for the feedback.... that's a strange comment for me to hear because it is actually a professional studio recording of a real piano. It's been cut up a bit and rearranged, but the signal is quite clear and hasn't been heavily processed or distorted with effects. The album version is turning out to be quite different, both stylistically and it isn't an instrumental. The new EP should be out this summer and I'm getting really excited about it. We'll be getting it professionally mixed/mastered when the songs are finished being written and recorded.
