View Full Version : Just a note on safety

I thought it may be best to note that some safety precautions may be in order before meeting anyone you've chatted with online. You can never be too careful with things like this. If anyone would like to add to this list, feel free.
Plan to meet in a public place
Tell a friend where you'll be and when you should be expected back
Don't get excessively drunk or high
Take your cell phone with you
Use your own transportation
Don't leave drinks unattendedIt's certainly not my intention to scare anyone or to insult anyone. I just thought it would be best to bring attention to safety if we're going to promote meeting in person.
Don't get high? Count me out!
Just kidding...good advice, not that the bulk of us would need it.

Yes, good advice Danisty, if I may add some:
Use that cell phone if they try to harm you
If you have a gut feeling that they are trouble, watch their actions and see if they are trouble or not.
If they keep persisting in doing something and you don't want to, said no, etc., and they keep saying come on do it, then get out of there.
Keep your guard up at all times! I'm paranoid and do this all the time, but thats beside the point:D.
Hope that helps,
~Christopher

Hahaha... it's a cultural reference... It's from the 'Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy' (a novel by Douglas Adams; the idea is the only two things you need when embarking on an aventure is to know not to panic, and to bring your towel (because it it the most useful item in the universe). It's typical brittish absurdism, of course... it's totally ridiculous but I tend to use it as way of jokingly saying: stay calm and be prepared for whatever happens. We don't need rules and fear so much as good humor, and our wits... Just my way of saying 'be careful', but don't be neurotic or paranoid.
