Just want to share some ideas/facts that I find interesting...
--------------------------------------------------------------

Melatonin is a natural neurohormone, which we all have that helps us sleep, and when we do the melatonin goes through our blood and cleans our cells up. For example it scavenges out free radicals.

People with an excessive amount of melatonin are unfavourable towards sunlight (a clue to the formation of the Dracula of Stokers novel perhaps). Vlad Tepes, the real Dracula, attended the Austrian School of Solomon in Hermannstadt which gave him scientific understanding of the bodily effects of melatonin and serotonin, which enhance longevity and increase consciousness. Perhaps he even experimented with his pineal gland trying to open his Third Eye in a dark twist of creativity envisaging new forms of torture?

Vlad Tepes would also in time possess an in-depth knowledge of alchemy, kingship and the ancient Star fire customs and one day follow his father’s footsteps becoming initiated into the Order of the Dragon.

Anyway the production of melatonin, which is the pineal glands principal hormone, is reduced with the arrival of puberty. This suggests that the abundant levels of melatonin in children hinder sexual development. The failure of the pineal gland to produce melatonin from serotonin each day beginning at sunset and throughout the night may lead to disturbances normally associated with aging as melatonin has wide-spread integrative and regenerative effects.

Perhaps this hindrance from sexuality is why a child’s imagination is more potent than an adult, who is more often disturbed by sexual emotions, and the obligations of society. It has been noted, also, that the pineal gland vibrates…

In Fulcanelli version of the Emerald Tablet it says that“the eternal Will is contained in it. Here, on earth, its strength, its power remain one and undivided.”

Although the powers of imagination, and the force of the pineal gland, may diminish with age it is still always there, sleeping, coiled at the root of our being. Would it not be wise, even if it turns out to be false, to place our attention at this gland that sits in the midst of our brain?

Now there have been experiments in several laboratories where scientists have taken human breast cancer cells and exposed them to a cocktail of melatonin and then applied a very low level of varying electric field. The experiment shows that electromagnetic radiation from power lines and appliances can reduce the melatonin ‘cleaning-up’ effect on human breast cancer cells.

When the cell phone signal is held next to the brain there is a change in the brainwaves of 70% of people. To sleep with the cell phone by the bed results in poor R.E.M. sleep. This causes a reduction in melatonin and thus leads to impaired learning and memory skills. More disturbing than all this is the fact that the TV seriously influence the pineal gland in such ways as harmful to the intellect.

According to the Emerald Tablet “by means of this one thing all the glory of the world shall be yours and all obscurity flee from you.” Can any person deny such a possible reward? It would certainly be better than winning the lottery. Would it not?

Why can’t Science apply occult thinking when investigating such matters as melatonin and serotonin (and the pineal gland). After all the ancients must know something?

I assume that no such effect occurs when the device itself is switched off...or not?

Good question but I imagine that is would not. And if it did not so much.

On a sidenote let me quote Philip K. Dick’s speech How to Build a Universe That Doesn't Fall Apart Two Days Later concerning TV:
“An EEG of a person watching TV shows that after about half an hour the brain decides that nothing is happening, and it goes into a hypnoidal twilight state, emitting alpha waves. This is because there is such little eye motion. In addition, much of the information is graphic and therefore passes into the right hemisphere of the brain, rather than being processed by the left, where the conscious personality is located. Recent experiments indicate that much of what we see on the TV screen is received on a subliminal basis. We only imagine that we consciously see what is there. The bulk of the messages elude our attention; literally, after a few hours of TV watching, we do not know what we have seen. Our memories are spurious, like our memories of dreams; the blank are filled in retrospectively. And falsified. We have participated unknowingly in the creation of a spurious reality, and then we have obligingly fed it to ourselves. We have colluded in our own doom.”

Fun facts:More than 100,000 chemical reactions go on in your brain every second! The brain is also a radio transmitter, which sends out measurable electrical wave signals. In fact the brain continues to send out these signals for as long as 37 hours after death!

Among the brain's many jobs is to be your own chemist. The brain produces more than 50 identified active drugs. Some of these are associated with memory, others with intelligence, still others are sedatives. Endorphin is the brain's painkiller, and it is 3 times more potent than morphine.

Scientific research over the last several decades has led to the revolutionary discovery of opiate-like chemicals in the body that associate with opiate specific receptors in the brain and spinal cord, including Serotonin, a hormone manufactured by your brain. - source (http://www.angelfire.com/hi/TheSeer/seratonin.html)

The best drug is for free apparently...
