http://abrahadabra.com/images/firebullet.sm.gif Introduction:
Buddhism is often described as a religion and a collection of various philosophies, based initially on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, known as Gautama Buddha. To many, however, Buddhism is not a religion, nor a philosophy or a set of doctrines, but rather teachings to guide one to directly experiencing reality. Buddhism is also known as Buddha Dharma or Dhamma, which means roughly the "teachings of the Awakened One" in Sanskrit and Pali, languages of ancient Buddhist texts. Buddhism began around 5th century BCE with the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, who was born in Ancient India, and is hereafter referred to as "the Buddha." - source (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism)

The website, Free Buddhist Audio (http://www.freebuddhistaudio.com/), as it's name suggests, is a library of free to stream or download audio recordings from various talks, lectures and retreats on a wide variety of Buddhist topics. They also have transcripts of some of the talks as well.

The site was founded and is maintained by the fwbo (http://fwbo.org/).

Also from the fwbo, there's also some useful stuff in this (http://fwbo-buddhist-articles.org/internet-directory.html) archive of articles, essays, and transcribed talks.

EDIT

Damn intrigue scandal and controversy! Why is it so hard to get the truth these days? This (http://www.fwbo-files.com/) site presents a story of the seedy underbelly of the fwbo that is, despite it's sensationalism, quite convincing. Anyway, have a look at the material and make up your own mind I guess.
