The *Philosophia Perennis* (Perennial Philosophy) forum hasn't felt quite right from the beginning, yet I am more convinced than ever that it has an important role to play in these discussions. Initially I had it divided into what is ordinarily considered its 3 primary divisions in general. What I am finding is that discussions of *ethics* and *psychology* in particular only vaguely appeal to those more interested in occultism itself. Perhaps we have simply had so much of it that we are a little burnt out discussing it, perhaps these things seem better suited to less public kinds of discussion. Whatever the reasons, these sub-forums have experienced very little traffic.
I have reconstructed this forum in an attempt to bring it more directly in line with those kinds of emphasis that would almost always have some real significance to occultists, and are still an integral aspect of the Perennial Philosophy itself and therefor not necessarily borrowed from anywhere else.
One of the things I want to point out regarding the terms *comparative mythology*, *evolutionism* and *transcendentalism* as they pertain to this immediate discussion board is that we should not regard the *academic* take on these terms to be the final tally on their overall rhetorical significance in an occult context. It has been my experience that these terms have often been taken up by people who are in many cases the least qualified to expound them, so I am going to be as lenient as possible with people exploring their broader implications in a more global magickal/mystical light. I just want to clear the air on that. I will look for resources that may serve to guide these forums somewhat but I do not expect they will be of much use to us if we confine ourselves to their historical academic connotations alone.
We'll give it a spin and see how it goes. This is a difficult forum to perfect in terms of structure but I do think this marks a real improvement over how it was before...
