Hello,

My name is Kathryn.

Sock sugested I drop by here to check this forum out. I see its run by M1thr0s, who I remember from when I used to haunt at TLoK. So anyway, here I am :)

About me, lets see... I've been into occult related subjects all my life, from theoretical physics, to psychology, philosophy, comparative religion, etc. I have always been quite 'psychic' though that term makes me a bit skittish due to the association with new age.

About 6 years ago I went through a shift where the psychic perceptions I was used to having became much more noticeable. This coincided with several other life changes, including my leaving the church of my youth and young adulthood.

Since then I have been delving ever more deeply into magic and the occult. I would rate my progress as very fast for 6 years time. I feel driven, to an almost obsessive degree, to learn and excell in my magical learning and profficiency. I come from a very strong background in psychic vampirism. Though I no longer actively practice, it offers a unique (and I think 'usefull') starting point for delving into magic. Giving particularly strong intuitive insight into perception and energy manipulation.

I consider my strengths in practice to be in : energy manipulation, constructs, astral projection, summoning, daemonology, and inter-mind effects (empathy, telepathy, mesmerism, glamoury, etc)

I consider my strengths in study (related to the occult) to be : khemetic, greek, and mesopotamian mysticism, CMT, psionics, dark spirituality, parapsychology, psychology, theoretical physics, cosmology, linguistics, and history.

I'm a fan of taoism, though i'd be considered a heretic by most taoists. I am also a fan of vamacara (tantra), though I am only just begining to really learn about it, it is my latest fascination and interest.

I have a mentor, whom I consider to be by far the greatest boon to my occult study. But for numerous reasons, I would be reluctant to discuss her openly in the forum. Perhaps in private message, if it came up.

I work with ritual, but only rarely and only by my own design. My goal is to reduce nonliteralism out of my magic, doing away with representative symbol and attempting to work directly with the forces employed. This includes an effort to shed the dependancy on visualization as well.

I'm not a huge fan of ancient systems of highly regimented and ritualized magic, preffering instead to stripmine the magical concepts from such sources and move on. Leaving the cerimonial motions, dogmas, etc. behind.
I'm uncertain how that will mesh with the content here.

Anyway, enough of the dry stuff. I'm tall, auburn, & freckly. I just got a new car which i'm quite happy with. My fiance cheated on me not so many months ago, and is now history, not without lingering heartache. I love art, and literature, and cooking, and camping, and swimming, and movies, and music, and stargazing... well, a lot of things. I have four favorite emotive states, humor, awe, sexual bliss, and love. Though wrath, predation, entropy, and egotism are nice too. I am a fan of hollistic ballance :)

also, I like cheese

Welcome Kath,

I have been doing the same thing for a little while, perhaps you would like to start a topic on what you do and how you do it.

Welcome Kathryn - we have the same name, although mine is spelled Catherine and everyine here calls me feranaja.

I share your love of literature, art, film, cuisine, and stargazing...and music...:)

I'm not really much of an "occultist" per se, despite years in Wicca, Witchcraft and many in Golden Dawn style magickal training; but I have many interests that seem to overlap ( I do a bit of tarot, I'm an herbalist and an amateur naturalist, that sort of overlapping) . These days it's almost beside the point what others are interested in - I can learn from everyone and as long as we click, that's basis for a friendship. And you certainly have a wide range of knowledge and interests...I admire your energy already. :)

Good to meet you,
feranaja

Nice to meet you all, both familiar and new faces :)

hmmm, i'd have to think on that and let it gel a bit. I haven't really pondered yet how to expound apon this as a shared thing.

'Catherine', those zaney westerners and their funky spelling... Oh well, Kathryn is pretty butchered too ;) Actually the most original variant of our name is the first line of my signature. Thank you for the compliment by the way.
