Edge Question from 2005

"WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS TRUE EVEN THOUGH YOU CANNOT PROVE IT?"

Great minds can sometimes guess the truth before they have either the evidence or arguments for it (Diderot called it having the "esprit de divination"). What do you believe is true even though you cannot prove it?

I believe there is no god but man...

which is not the same thing as believing there is no god...

or that man is somehow greater than god...

or that god is just some man...

Well, I would have to say that mine would be very close to what m1thr0s is saying: "There is no god but self."

Also, I would add: "Earth is not the only planet that houses 'intelligent' life."

Beyond those two things, there is not much that I will 'believe' without proof, although I may have hunches, ideas, hypotheses or even theories.

I believe in 'the good people', ie *The wee folk*... Children are supposed to carry bread or silver in their pockets when playing in the woods around here lest they be 'taken'...

Actually, I think my favorite part of that belief is the fact that I have no proof.. It makes it extra fun...

There's nothing I believe that I can't prove given enough time/motions. Even if it's not true, I can make it true. Though it is not always in my best interest to prove things or to waste energy on people who need such things proven to them.

Funnily enough and in contrast to Anibis, I do believe in the "good in people" (not only the *good people*),

Another thing that I cant really prove but that Im confident in is that I can clean up every mess that falls in my sphere.

 yeah true enough...

I'm with Anibis. I've always been down with the Sidhe/Aelf/Fae.
I also believe that all matter is sentient, in reincarnation, telepathy, healing through 'laying on of hands' and
a whole BUNCH of other stuff.

LOLOLOL that list sounds like the scene in ghost busters where Ernie Hudson is applying for a job.....
