Ok, first of all, I blame m1thr0s for the fact I can no longer just learn about scientific frontiers without finding some kind of application here...:rofl:
I say that partly in jest, but I've been rereading the material here, and working the mirrors, and as when ever I do that, intuititve flashes just really start percolating around in my brain.
More to the point, I've been working some of the trigram field meditations, and about a 1/2 later, watched this weeks NOVA, which was about this:
RNA-I (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RNA_interference)
bing*bing, and I had to share. RNA-I, research suggests, could be a key to life extension or immortality through its ability to inhibit the reproduction of virus RNA/DNA. Ok cool, but grok this; the mechanism by which it operates has to do with the way RNA recognizes and reacts to mirror images of itself.

wow. that's pretty damn intense fr. novum...
you know, I've always felt that the basic job of any would-be magus is to correctly ascertain the intent of nature itself and thus incorporate that into ones overall magickal methodology. That's a pretty big mouthful of words when it gets right down to it and not necessarily as easily accomplished as imagined, but easy or not, it's still the essential job description.
when we somehow manage to achieve this, how can science be very far behind? we, who have nothing to fear from knowledge and are free to bend whichever way the universe inclineth will live to see this pattern repeated time and time again. truth cleaveth unto truth as the saying goes and here at the dawn of the so-called information age, this enginery we call science is there to lock this whole thing down. we need only attend to what it's actually all about.
great snag...I'm going to have to re-read that whole article more carefully...
mirror-wisdom indeed.

Very interesting indeed!

I would like to add the following:
When cells die, due to free radicals, they duplicate and life goes on. But each time a small portion of the DNA molecule is lost and not copied.
This loss is usually to the telomere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telomere) and it has been noted that as humans grow older these telomeres shorten till eventually they are so short that the losses in replication affect the vital DNA molecule sequence thus preventing the cell from its ability to duplicate, which brings about the aging process.
Only in the germ cells, that are the progenitors of sperm and egg, are the telomeres restored by an enzyme called telomerase making them basically immortal. Also in cancer cells are the telomeres restored and this is the reason why tumours are so deadly, because they can duplicate ad infinitum.
If the telomeres are artificially lengthened so is life!
"The telomere is a "ribonucleoprotein complex" composed of a protein component and an RNA primer sequence which acts to protect the terminal ends of chromosomes." Wikipedia

yes, ive been interested in telemers since fary null turned me on to them years ago.....his suggestion is micro-nutrient to prevent telemer shredding, but i've always wanted to get down there magickally, try to mess with them on that level....failed in every intent so far, but I never had the Abrahadabra tools before either
