This may be an incredibly dumb question, but knowing nothing about abrahadabra, I thought I'd jump out there and ask. Have there been any tarot spreads designed with abrahadabra in mind?

Btw, m1thr0s, this feels pretty lame to say as an admin, but if this thread should go somewhere else, feel free to move it...lol.

I have not yet seen anything specific to Abrahadabra. I was actually working on a Tarot system a few years back that would link to the 81 Tetragrams of the Tai Hsuan Ching, which is all an integrated part of this immediate Abrahadabra thesis...but I have not seen what I think you may be imagining...

Personally, I would love to see something like that...especially if it was done with a little class...

edit: if something like this were done right it would probably wind up being very Pythagorean in flavor. Pythagoras was into something called *the eleven gradations of the tetractys* which was some way of dividing all of the kingdoms of life into 11 primary categories in some way. And there are also parallels to this in Buddhism and elsewhere...so i think it would need to be carefully researched but it could wind up being a really powerful divination method.

Well, having a certain interest in geometry and tarot, I would like to try something like this. However, I'm afraid I don't know enough about either to develop a system by myself. Would this be something of interest for us to try to develop? It would be something unique to try and do on this site...something that perhaps could be copyrighted?

There's actually a lot more to this idea than you might imagine Danisty. The standard *Celtic Cross* spread that most people use with Tarot is a 10-card spread but you can just as easily use the Tetractys itself:

*
**
***
****
...and with a querant/crossing cards in the middle you would actually have an 11-card spread as per Abrahadabra. I've actually used this with conventional Tarot and quite like it. Each of your card positions has a planetary value and from the planetary values you can derive the context that each card applies to etc...

So it's doable for sure...it's really just a matter of deciding the best way to construct the cards themselves...whether to go with the 66 points in Abrahadabra plus something else (22 paths etc) or the 11 gradations of the tetractys or whatever...there's a range of interesting possibilities. There is also the Kamea of Earth idea which Pythagoras would probably have been partial to from my understanding of his own divination tools. Besides the 66 points, Abrahadabra also reveals exactly 100 equilateral triangles in total, corresponding neatly to the Kamea (or magical square) of Earth...also called the Qamea of Malkuth (http://www.hermeticfellowship.org/GDRef/Qamea10.html)

One way or another we are talking about making a lot of cards though...you up for that much drawing???

...of course...we could always bug Rin until he relents...lol...

Already done it. 132 cards 93+39. Gnus at 11.

Anyhow, to elaborate, It's basically the 418 key worked into the structure of a Tarot deck. It has two components: a 93 card Traditional tarot, 'the Book of Particles' which has 1 additional Trump: the Juggler, and an additional suit: Lamps, along with 4 extra court cards. Then a 39 card 'Book of Waves', which is used to help assess what kinds of ripples are coming off of a given reading. It works, but is not really something to market as an 'Abrahadabra' product. It's really justt another Ibisis contraption...

Ever browse through the Encyclopedia of the Tarot? I think it may be up to 5 or maybe 6 huge volumes by now...my point being that there's always room for a really good idea to be approached from a range of angles.

Perhaps rather than just one such deck, it would be even more engaging to begin a business specializing in Abrahadabra gear of all kinds and calibers...like a peaceful little snowball rolling down the mountain, I'll bet it wouldn't take too long for that puppy to build up a pretty good head of steam...

Lol...I figured it would be a group effort...lol. Whoever works on it would get credited in the end obviously.

Exactly! And it seems to me from what I can gather so far, abrahadabra itself is rather practical and flexible. It looks like it can be as complicated or simple as the occultist really wants...depending on how deep into it they want to go. People like practical and flexible.
