Anton Lavey had stated, pertaining to Satanism, that quoted "People are BORN a Satanist, they cannont BECOME one".

Personally, I believe that we are all born a Satanist. We are all born free until our parents, grandparents, teachers, and who ever else that has an influence in your life dictate your actions/thoughts/beliefs ect. Once you realize you have been spoonfed bullshit all your life you can overcome all that and truly be liberated in every sense of the word.

I believe that we are all born with different pshychological tendencies and potentialities. Such things, like intelligence (to a degree) are based on our genetic makeup. The environment in which we are raised then creates the means by which our potentialities develop into actualities (or wither and stagnate). Those who are born with a neurological temperament that lends itself toward a Satanic outlook will eventually, IMHO, come around to that awareness, regardless of their upbringing. Whether or not they choose to follow that awareness to it's logical ends is dependent upon their free moral agency. Conversely, those who are not predisposed toward such an outlook, even if raised within that frame of refrence, will more than likely find themselves moving in a different direction.

If you've read the Satanic Bible, you've no doubt read what LaVey thinks of children. If you haven't read it, let me know and I'll try to find his exact wording for you.

Personally, I'm not sure I can completely agree. Sure, everyone is born free, but even without the outside influence of parents, grandparents, teachers, etc. I don't believe that everyone would naturally grow into a Satanist. While some Satanists my disagree with me, I don't really think this concept fits too well into Satanism either. Satanism is not really meant to be a majority...it's meant to be elite. When it's not elite, it just isn't very Satanic. I would say that the growth in Satanism over the years has kind of even proven this. Look at all the people who claim Satanism. Surely some of them just aren't very Satanic or elite.

Edit: Doc summed it up quite nicely! I think you will find that most Satanists feel as though they've always been Satanist and at some point simply realized it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Doc nailed this one solid...it's just hard to understand something like *neurological temperament*. I have tried to explain this to people before but it's very hard...I also am one of those who just sort of came to this realization and couldn't really avoid it once it fell open. I have all kinds of good reasons to avoid it like the plague, but I can't avoid the consequences of being a certain way and thinking a certain way...that follows me wherever I go and it doesn't make any difference what I might happen to call it...

I think that for those in my position at least it isn't really important that others understand it or agree with it, but it is important to get clear with yourself about it as much as possible. Somehow in doing that a lot of other things come together and you can better manage the fallout that comes along with this particular package...which can be considerable...

Being born has many limitations. Like actually being able to define what it is you are (if that is even a realistic concept). As we go through life we put the puzzle together as best we can, and arrive at a point that makes more sense than others.

We may have been Satanic since birth, but without the foundation of realisation it doesnt amount to mush at all. Its a catch 22 that involves labelling yourself in order to free yourself from randomness. Label arent so bad, really.

I came this way via Devil Worship, until I realised I was weaker for it after years of subservience to a being that was perhaps a construct of my wishes, and an act of social rebellion. So I agree with Ğanisty in the elitest issue, as if anything you do involves the greater public, it isnt high-lighting what you could be, in my case I was rebelling against society at the cost of myself. The next phase was to give all that energy back to me, to be self-energising.

and wow, that worked wonders.

So maybe we are born, and I know I was, but it was the experiences and occurences through my life to this point that has evolved the way I view myself and the responsibilities to myself and this life I have.

Born, sure, but its the maturity of realisation that sets the ball in motion. It is at that point of pure reflective response that we identify the being within as the same being we were born, and the puzzle is then at least half way solved.

The journey continues...

Seems like one could almost lay out a common pattern for 'our kin'. For me a pattern has emerged that the more knowledge that has come into me, the less I believe in anykind of deity which has and is currently worshipped. The deity has merely got another label in the egregore category and life rolls on. The fantastic and scary part has been to grow up from an enviroment like this and see the world-view turn 180 degrees with an inverted dimension coming up about how things have really been. I suppose the same will and has happened with humanity as it continues to wake up. Naturally Self-Deification will be a huge factor in this whole process. As I see it, we are all gods.

As Terry Prattchett had it "It's hard to believe in a God when you saw him for breakfast each morning".

There is probably also a correlation between Satanism/being a satanist and some emotional wound with a lot of guilt. As this guilt will certainly keep one from feeling like a saint, which means that one will naturally seek somekind of area which accepts this guilt, and who's better at accepting a huge sin than satan himself? :D On the other side we have xtianity who wishes to use the sins as a way of control.

So how do you become a satanist?

Be a leader from birth, get traumatized by society because of ones strength, and so on.. If you want to be a shaman, then ask the aliens to put a crystallized 3rd eye, which registers data 24/7 consciously and get traumatized a shit loads more. Welcome to planet earth.

Eh... I wound up here simply because I thirst for knowledge.

That was what I wanted from the misguided pact with the Devil, the downward spiral. Which was as far from illumination as I have ever been. Waking up to how to get there was the turning point. I figure that it is true that Devil worship leads to damnation, but not because of god almighty being neglected, but more so because of the neglect to yourself. Guess the only fabrication of the religious that seems true to the word.

It was always "I want", so it took me along time to realise that that was the key: ME!

As long as we were all headed for Rome, all roads lead there eventually. Mine was just long and physically/mentally exausting.
