Having no experience, I didn't respond to the first post...
But please, let's read of your adventures...
Others will likely respond...

Yeah I have a bunch of them running around, Paimon, Sitri and Marbas, all cats....how about you?
I find them to increase not necessarily the intelligence of the feline but the receptivity to interacting with humans as opposed to other felines. I can't say I'm opposed to just plain cats either...there's different things that can be done with a hand-raised kitten with good DNA.
Cats born in Mei are also more likely to be good candidates for taking to such posession well. It's an upgrade more than anything. I hear a lot about soul replacement and killing cats and it's all a bunch of b.s. really, domestic cats make perfect candidates for activating higher intelligences onto the physical plane. (I think so at least)
Here's a picture of my main familiar, he actually does a higher level form than anything you can find in the Goetia, and this is in turn designated by his skeletal size.

It just upgrades....I believe it is part of our duty to enlighten all creatures in such a way as we come across them. That's just compassion I think.
I know my oldest cat, he thinks like a human now, and is really quite smart and able to channel just about anything I need him too. Cats make really good vessels for the kinds of archetypes average humans need to make contact with regularily.
I definately do not hold to any nonsensical belief that their soul is killed or anything. Maybe moved aside might be a possible term but I'm not quite sure a cat or animal has the protestation of free will available to it that a human has.

I have a familiar spirit, although I call it an IMP instead. It lives in my gut. I bring it forth when I am in peril, weak or subject to social pressure. It is a most powerful weapon!
