I plan a move to Vancouver - or that side of Canada anyway! It won't happen till 2008... gathering my plans at the moment. I would really appreciate any information of basic nature: living costs, average rent, difficult finding flats in that area, jobs, stuff to think about, hemp culture  or anything you can think of. I have gathered some information already and spoken to the Canadian Embassy here in Stockholm - but I would like some information from real people!
Thanks for any help and God Save the Queen... actually fuck her life and future! :vengeance:

I think Vancouver sucks, it's too developed and overcrowded. You might try an outlying area. Richmond is nice, for instance...

Well, it is just a point of reference... I am interested in the whole state and from what I understand the nature there is quite impressive... and pretty close to Alaska (closer than from where I am now at least). I have had several synchronicities in the last five years directing me towards this area of the world. I tend to follow these - have done all my life - so I am going even if it is a dump.
I don't have a problem with over-developed or crowded - that is the MAIN problem of this Earth! About 2 billion people too many... but that is another topic altogether.

Well it's on the outskirts of Vancouver.

For some reason I wanted to take a trip to Vancouver for some years after having read a nat geo. article about it when I was 17, but never found the time/bothered, now Im indifferent about it. Synchronistically I just remembered that recently: Vancouver and Wales...need to go there for some reason...

Then you should go!
Follow your gut. I have already done Wales... weird place...
I like the road signs because the language is so abstract - for us who don't understand it that is (reminds me of some Tolkien language)!

I've been told by several people that I really need to check out Nelson (http://www.city.nelson.bc.ca/)
Kind of a postcard town from all appearances but supposedly a lot of cool people there etc...
Looks small though...

Of course it's weird, I live there
There's nothing abstract about the Welsh language.
Sindarin is based on Welsh
BTW, that sign is in the town where I live. :)

I've been to Nelson... it's cool. There's a big Ashram nearby... Also recommended is Victoria, on the Island... Major Occult Culture there. I understand there are some private Islands owned by Satanists... Vancouver's not bad, It's BIG... But if you are into hemp culture, then you are going to the right place... I am on the way other end of Canada, but took the trip there once years ago... very cool. Good luck...

Yeah I agree...although I must say it reminds me a bit of a small town I lived in in Washington.
One thing about towns that small is it's hell to try and make a living.
