Sorry if this has been posted already, but it just came to light for me.

A nameless movie trailer was shown before the Transformers movie that is being called 1-18-08 (for the release date) or Project Cloverfield. It's made to look like it's shot entirely on a cell phone or home camera, and there are apparently secret sites all around the web supposed to gives "clues," as to what the moster is. I think they are there to throw people off. This is similar to what Trent Reznor did with his latest album. I find the whole made concept of making a fake universe very intriguing. There is already a load of hype associated with it. People are saying it's gonna be Godzilla, Cthulhu, or something entirely new. One thing is for sure, I'm either going to be very happy, or very dissapointed with this flick.

I'm in love with moster movies, my favorite is Giger's Alien. He as an artist who describes the process of his work as an exorcism, which I can truly appreciate. I'm not going to go too much in to why I love the guys work. It might take some time. The movie itself is a classic.

Aside from that. There's this common theme in moster movies where the monster is not really that bad, but it's the people, and their reaction that shows themselves to be the monster (which I can certainly relate to...)

So, give me your slimy, your dangerous, misunderstood, your giant, clawed creatures, and lets give them a home here.

Oh Monsters are great... and I think it is more often society that is the monster and not the monster itself. The monster that has had the largest effect on me is the water (+ music) in Jaws (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073195/)... (and the fin I guess). I still think of getting bitten when I swim in the ocean!

It's the danger you can't see. You know it's there, but you don't know where it will strike!

You know, while murder might be disturbing to me under the general circumstances, cannibalism itself isn't all that taboo to my mind. In fact, I can completely understand the ritualistic concept of taking the empty vessel of a loved-ones into yourself as a means of preserving their qualities.

Not quite what Hannibal has in mind though. ;)

The interesting thing with cannibalism is its links with the rituals of the Church (eat the flesh of Christ, drink his blood), with the way we treat our babies (so cute I could eat you) and the way it pops up in the media now and again. Some crazy killer, or some urban legend about some hamburger joint in Moldova...

I think we are all latent Cannibals!

It's a bit funny how Catholics don't seem to make that connection. When they do, they believe it's different because they are eating God, and I suppose the process of it being transformed into flesh and blood through the Holy Spirit makes it beautiful, rather than monsterous. Which is weird, because if someone gave someone else permission to ritualistically eat them after they die, I can only imagine they would freak out. Lol, do you ever get that with a cute little loved one? That intense feeling of "I could just gobble you up?"

Well I can with cute small animals, but then I remind myself I am a vegetarian. I do get cannibalistic with people I don't like. I just want to eat their face off

There's a line from a good Canadian flick called "Ginger Snaps" about a couple of goth sisters in the suburbs, and werewolves (Menstruation is an important part of the theme, as well.) One sister is changing and killing things all around and after a school enemy accidently slips and hits her head, killing herself in their kitchen. Her sister asks of shes going to eat her. She replies "Ugh, GOD NO!!! That would be like...like fucking her

I remember the giant rear spitting bugs from the movie "Starship Trooper".
For some reason, I really like the movie and seeing Doctor Doogie in a movie
was funny too

And thinking about invasion, I wonder if we'll ever see bug warfare. These containers coming from Asia, are they intentionaly contaminated with tree eating bugs?
