I had a good block of time yesterday to do a little r&d
with some new audio and video editing software...

I tried out various linear and chromatic fx to
get an idea of the range of possible variations...

The video loses a bit of detail due to compression
to meet the file size limitation on youtube:

YouTube - 8-lobed red on yellow w/audible sinewaves

The sinewaves may annoy some listeners,
so turn off the sound if it bugs you, but try
to watch it til the end (it's only 3 min.)... ;)

The low frequencies may not be
audible on small pc speakers...

Check it out in full-screen mode if you can...

Thanks, frater...

I've been on an '8' kick lately, so I started there...

[edit to remove a broken link]

But I'm planning on doing the next clip using a six-lobed
motif, which will both approximate and animate the FoL...

Here's a rough draft of the six-lobed motif:

YouTube - 6-lobed white on blue / no sound

It's silent; no audio track...

The last part is pretty trippy...

The middle section reminds me of Chladni patterns:
