Swe-Eden!

It sits there almost all alone, as the ruler of Scandinavia, in a reliable cradle of supreme orderliness and safety. If Capitalism and Communism ever formed the perfect union the offspring would be a lot like Sweden. In the whole of the world it is difficult to find a safer and more modern place, and yet, even if you did, will that nation have the same values as Sweden does?
Will it see the individual as obliged to control his own life, but with the constant blanket of the State to protect him/her if things turn bad? Will it judge every great thing to be not too much and not too little? Will it be ashamed of achievement and proud of standards? Will it fear patriotism yet love it all the same? Will it be democratic yet have monarchs too? Will it be neutral yet manufacture and export products of war? Will it be safe and still have its leaders murdered on the street? Will life be of such a high quality that it results in more suicides than almost anywhere else in the world? Will it be a small and insignificant nation with a past of conquering glory? Will it deem itself as boring, stiff and artistically impotent yet be efficient, professional and altruistic? Will it deem the greatest compliment to be worthy only if it comes from bigger and more powerful states? Will it whine that nothing will happen and yet hope that nothing will? If so then you have found another Sweden, although it seems improbable you have.

To call Sweden extreme may not be true enough. To see it as a nation too good for its own good is perhaps the best description one can make. If you have never been there you will go there soon, and you will witness that insurrection and revolution does not only happen, and need to happen, in states with fundamental and despotic leaders.
Sure, perhaps compared to more downright genocide infested nations the problems of Sweden seem luxurious, but Freedom should never be pigeonholed. Either you have it or you don’t, and if you don’t then it does not matter where you are or how well you live. If you are not truly free you are nothing but a slave, and then there is only one thing left for you to do: break free…
So with these words I bid you welcome to Sverige!

Bofors
The name Bofors has been associated with the iron industry for more than 350 years. Located in Karlskoga, Sweden, it originates from the hammer mill Boofors founded 1646. Since 1873 it has been producing war related products. In 1894 Alfred Nobel acquired Bofors and he played a key role in reshaping the iron manufacturer to a modern cannon manufacturer and chemical industry. No wonder he founded the Peace Prize, probably out of guilt.
According to Bofors website its environmental policy, amongst others, are “...to ensure its processes do not cause personal injury, damage production plants or the surrounding environment.” Pretty ridiculous policy for a company that manufacture bombs.
Among the eight nations that export the highest amount of war material in the world five of them are in the UN Security Council. Sweden is in 9th place on the list of nations with the most export. Funny that a neutral country is so high on the list, and even funnier since its main buyer is Switzerland, which is another so-called neutral country.

Sweden is no better than the USA. Fuck them both and all warmongering morons. Is peace such a difficult idea?

Is peace such a difficult idea? Unfortunately yes, it is. The problem always boils down to who will control the peace and how it will be enforced. Until somebody can demonstrate some other way that a stable peace can be established and maintained against hostile opposition by some other means, this will continue to be a barrier that nations cannot effectively negotiate.
I'm not saying it isn't possible...I'm just saying world leaders have no idea how it could be accomplished. There doesn't even appear to be a reasonable fictional example of how this might be doable. This is one of the main reasons peace-movements tend to die out once they get beyond some immediate issue or another. The cry of peace only seems to have any meaning in the context of specific conflicts run amok. Beyond that it seems to always implode from internal contradictions.
Change that...or else change that perception of things...and you may stand some chance of convincing others also. Most people prefer peaceful resolution to any of life's problems but when those problems become insurmountable...they'll go with war over hopelessness over and over again.

Sweden has run amok with psuedo-peace, and what a great irony!
The Nobel Piss-Prize!
The whole of my remaining realizable estate shall... constitute a fund, the interest on which shall be annually distributed in the form of prizes to those who, during the preceding year, shall have conferred the greatest benefit on mankind... ...one part to the person who shall have made the most important discovery within the domain of physiology or medicine; one part to the person who shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction... It is my express wish that in awarding the prizes no consideration whatever shall be given to the nationality of the candidates, but that the most worthy shall receive the prize, whether he be a Scandinavian or not. - from The Will of Alfred Nobel (http://nobelprize.org/alfred_nobel/will/will-full.html)
Has the winners of the literature prize really fulfilled what Nobel expressed they should. I don't think so. Perhaps Jean-Paul Sartre did, awarded in 1964, but he declined the prize because he consistently declined all official honours. Cudos!
http://www.jakvydelat.com/alfred-nobel/nobel-medal.jpg
Winners by nation (all prizes included):
United States: 270
United Kingdom: 100
Germany: 77
France: 49
Sweden: 30
Switzerland: 22
Netherlands: 15
Italy: 14
Denmark: 13
Japan: 12
Austria: 11
Canada: 10
Belgium: 9
Norway: 8
- the rest 6 or less
Still a lot of Scandinavians there for such a small group of nations, and only 34 women... ever! Perhaps Nobel should have included no consideration whatever shall be given to gender in his will. Ok, I know what you might be thinking.
1. The top nations have the best research facilities i.e. they get prizes.
2. Women haven't been allowed into science for that long.
Well, you only need a pen and paper to write a book. And also a lot of people who get these awards don't really need them. They have already had a career. Why not grant money to young and struggling artists/scientists instead. After all it says in the will that the nominations shall be for people who during the preceding year have done some great work. Most winners did their work decades ago!
In 1968 a Memorial Prize was added called The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel! I don't think I need to make a comment on this folly!
Anyway, this is one of the most famous things Sweden has granted the world and like cheese from the Alps it is full of holes!

The most common sentence in the Swedish language has been elected, and the winner is:
I don't know (jag vet inte)!
The next to the most common sentence is: I've never said that (det har jag aldrig sagt)!
I think this says a lot about the Swedish mentality, and it can be a bit sickening to think about...
but how can we change this anti-gnosis, low self-esteem, nature of the Swede?
Well, I just don't know!
Sidenote:
The most common letter is E, and the most common number is 0 (in both written and spoken Swedish)!

sometimes exaggerating a negative can produce a positive.
create a rule that anyone caught saying "I don't know" will be fined the equivalent of $10,000 if they fail to immediately follow-up by saying "I'm just a worthless moron!"...if they do follow-up they get to keep their money but will have something serious to reflect on!
ahh...if only I ruled the world...what a fun-house it would be!

Reminds me of Jello Biafra for mayor of San Fran. He had amongst other things a platform whereby all business people would be required to wear clown suits during working hours....

Sweden is not all bad... there are some nice music that I'd like to share (that is not death-metal). First up is the Swedish Sex Pistols/Ramones called Ebba Grön (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebba_Grön):
YouTube - Ebba Grön - Staten och Kapitalet
Next is Cornelis Vreeswijk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornelis_Vreeswijk) and his is a great singer-songwriter:
YouTube - Cornelis Vreeswijk - Somliga går med trasiga skor
And then there is Bellman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Michael_Bellman) from the 18th century here performed by Vreeswijk:
YouTube - Cornelis Vreeswijk - Märk hur vår skugga
And Looptroop (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looptroop) (yeah we represent too):
YouTube - LOOPTROOP - THE LONG ARM OF THE LAW

In my impression Sweden is a nice enough country, if one has to make such generalizations or subscribe to the concept of "country", at that.
Some "+" points to me where: you can camp outdoors (or was that Norway?), everyones friendly/esp. helpful, either German or English is well understood, you honk when you want to thank another driver whereas in other countries its a sign of annoyance or anger, theres lots of water- lakes, the sea etc- and great sea food, its very safe and politically stable, the living standard is very high, and most inportant: its nearly the only country in the world where I will be mistaken for a native even by the natives themselves! lol.
Some "-" points where (to me) : as in all Scandinavian countries the temperament of the Nordlanders was too cool and introvert, which doesnt fit my own too well (boring a bit and -as esp. in Germany too- No- dolce far niente! arrrgh thats bad for me), the restaraunts closed at nine p.m. or something, there were elks on the road at times and the alc was shitty expensive (also a + in fact)...
Thanks btw to give me some critical look from the inside, deviadah! The irregularities in the Nobel Price arent surprising (Austria also has gotten many of them it seems, but this is due to the high concentration of geniuses and madmen in this country ;))...no, its the same with every public award and recognition-therer always some politics and petty games of influence and boons etc involved in them, I personally dont take those too seriously, anyway...

These are positive points! :p
I say get the cars away from the roads instead of the elks. Those are great creatures, and quite spectacular to face in the wild.
The king shoots them... what a dick!
