The fripp&eno-esque soundtrack was created
to replace the rather strident sinewaves and to
complement the clip's mindbendingly-groovy visuals... ;)

that's quite beautiful MM...really nice work. Are it's various movements random or programmed? Either way, the result is very elegant...

Thanks, I really like this one, too...

I'm developing more of an ability to predict and control the outcome...

This one was rather intentional, but most of the fun in the
process of creating these things is in the 'happy accidents'...

The other thing that's in constant refinement is the myriad of
technical details, i.e. sinewave and o-scope and camera settings, etc...

And with numerous rendering possibilities in the computer,
trying all of the combinations to find the sweetspots...

Dozens of different variables really affect the quality
of the final youtube.com viewing experience... :p

The music has brought this one alive for me and I found it quite hypnotic.

Excellent, thanks...

But I'm curious as to how you all feel about this peculiar delivery method...

Just what are these things and what is their 'energy potential'...?

Are they 'merely' entertaining; relaxing...?

Or could they trigger further therapeutic functions, for instance...?

Might they have any tantric or transmutational applications...?

One man's placebo is another man's cure... :p

something like this has explosive possibilities MM...it's a little hard to predict how far it could go. I can tell you right now that eventually you'll want to break away from the flat-screen modality somehow and move more into a 3D delivery environment.

I'd kill to see some of this stuff in a planetarium dome setting for instance...and for longer periods of time...60 minutes of this stuff and I suspect people are going to be walking out of there feeling like they just spoke with god or something...

and that's got to amount to something...

Nice pre-ritual, get you in the mood kind of thing is my first thought.

Live performance is the way to go, I think... if you can somehow play music AND have the kymo's on the go that would be pretty large. Get people grooving, I think....

I saw Cirqure du Soliel's new version of Saltimbanco the other day, and man was it amazing. Like a giant super-polished ritual, really... THe coolest thing was that the stage itself was big bright and shiny, and happened to be the Flower of Life pattern...

Live performances and mystical math make for Unforgettable experiences...

Live performance will be tricky I think. MM and I have experimented with these over a couple years. I'm sure he can elaborate more here, but, the patterns are obtained by tweaking sine wave pairs and panning and such. The patterns are not derived from the music you hear. It is an aftereffect for now. I was thinking that if he could figure out a way to do these in holographic form, that would be intense. I like the planetarium idea. MM?

Anibis

But can you play with/accompany the wave forms? What if you developed a dance piece to it?

I can easily imagine doing high-tech shamanic journeys this way. like the fact that sepheroth have their corresponding magick squares or the music of the spheres and so on...tree paths all have their unique topologies as do chakras, meridians etc...

Great ideas Anibis! I never thought of that. I'll defer to MM for further on this as it is his project. I only assist from time to time. I think you could definately do live music over the top of them. The tricky part is that I think it takes a bit of set up plugging in frequency numbers etc. MM?

Great ideas indeed...

We have a cozy little planetarium at a local uni, I'll call them
tomorrow to see if they're into hosting 'special events'...

And I also have some peripheral contacts within
our community's 'dance collective', maybe they'd
be into doing some choreoscillography... :p

It's certain that musicians could perform live with (pre-produced)
projected video animations; either by working out all the details,
completely improvising everything, or somewhere between...

After contemplating the thought of gigging however,
I decided that I'm not the right man for that job...

Ricci, regarding your suggested pre-ritual use,
do you imagine that dvd would be the best
delivery method for that intended application...?

Thanks for the suggestions all...

Here's the completed 'wobbling' 8-lobed video with
added ambient track and slightly altered color fx:

The colours don't work so well for me, but the main problem for me here is that the music and the lobes have two distinct clashing rhythms, whereas the ambient audio on the previous one did not clash rhythmically with the video.

MythMath
08-28-2007, 05:05 AM
Yeah I usually don't work much with these colors
and intensities, so I thought I'd experiment a bit...

It may work out as a contrasting piece
in an 'album-length' video compilation...
__________________________

Also, much of the movement esp. the pulsing and
the wobbling at the end, is initiated by, and locked to,
a low (60hz) wave that I opted to retain and mix in
as 'the bass' along with the synthesizer music track...

Depending on your computer speakers,
that low tone may not be audible...

And without it, as mentioned, there's no longer any
element that links the video with the music tracks... :o

It'll sound great, however, on the
sub-woofers at the planetarium... :p

Hey look at this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl507zEkxD0&mode=related&search=). Just something I found following youtube links from the kymotropes.

Sorry I haven't posted sooner...

I found the first two very calming, bringing me almost to a trance like state. I'm going to try watching this before my daily ritual work...

-A-,

I just watched some of those last night, I always knew
I couldn't be the world's only practicing kymotropist...

fr no,

While most of the clips I've done are popsong-length (<4min),
I have worked on a few of them that are extended studies...

I'd like to try to optimize some clips for you and
Ricci, et al to use in a pre-ritual application...

What's the 'best ' clip length...?

Any colo(u)r preferences...?

Favo(u)rite number sequences...?

{Ric, I do have a couple based on Fibonacci runs} ;)

Cool : )

Length a good few minutes I suppose for me.

Any colo(u)r preferences...?
Most colours, though bright yellow might not do it lol. Maybe Midnight blue or Burgundy or forest greens. Good strong dark colours I think.

Favo(u)rite number sequences...?
I just had a thing about eight points lately, but its variable ; )

{Ric, I do have a couple based on Fibonacci runs}
Ah, pyramids, very appropriate for Egyptian workings then.

Check out the intro to the song Caoineadh Na Dtri Mhuire (Lament At Calvary) (http://music.yahoo.com/track/15134970). It could go well with one of these videos.

Is it necessary to download their particular player...?

I don't think so. It took a while for it to work though.

...worked on my IE but not on Firefox

Ive been looking around, but to no avail. If you have iTunes you can buy the song for a dollar or less.

I'm afraid not. This snippet misses out the intro that I was refering to.
