My name is Nnonnth and I just joined you guys today. I class myself as a chaos magician roughly in line with the direction of people like Jan Fries and with a big appreciation of Austin Osman Spare. My activities are meditation, energy work, astral projection, working with spirits (esp. animal spirits at the moment) and spellcasting in a chaosite manner although with the addition of herbs and elements of other traditions. I am ultimately no-path I think.
I hope to have some interesting chat here and to see what stuff you people are into, swap info etc.

Thanks again for more greetings which I return wholeheartedly. ;)
BTW is this a forum that was begun as a part of an organization that existed in Finland or something like that? I just notice a Finnish predominance one doesn't normally find most places!
I would find this interesting in itself since one of my favourite magickal authors, Jan Fries, has written a little about the Sami shamans and their ways, and Michael Winn over at healingtaousa, although he doesn't talk much about it, has lived with them for a time. He says they are amazing people with alot of interesting spiritual approaches, and although their way of life is being encroached on too much by civilization, their magick stops them from being kept down completely.
I expect that Finnish members of the board can tell me more about that than the paltry things I imagine and read about here in London... NN

lol...no, but you might be right. They must grow them smarter in Finland for some reason...

Do you have an url for the articles? Would be interesting to read them. I'm myself finnish and have been born in lappland (above the polar circle). But only lived there for 2 years, whereafter we moved more south. Something in me urges me to move back in to the middle of nature though. Seems like my brain works better when I'm not overwhelmed by the city demons :)
Actually going to look for some shamans to see if they could help me out with these dead spirit issues. I could almost bet my horses that they could help me because they've had similar experiences in their initiation process.

Which dead spirit issues are those? Have you detailed these things somewhere - this is my welcome thread remember I'm new! And yes I'm sure you could find someone to help you up there. Might be quite a ride.
As for Michael's experiences with them, he only talks occasionally about it on the forum there as I remember for example here:
http://forum.healingdao.com/general/message/4929/
If you joined the forum (don't say I sent you!) you can probably ask Michael himself for more info, he is rather cagey about it sometimes. Knows alot of other stuff too, has done rituals in the Great Pyramid and whatnot... doesn't teach that stuff though.
Jan Fries has excellent stuff on the saami in one of his books - 'Seidways' I think.
You're right about nature. I work with nature spirits alot and even though I'm in central London by 'chance' ("if chance you call it" as the man said) I'm five minutes away from the best park in London and 15 minutes from the nearest zoo - on foot I mean. I have trees both sides of my house and I know all the trees down my street, all the clouds overhead, and the sounds of all the birds. This is what keeps me sane. Arguably. I recommend this kind of thing to anyone with a love of nature.

I have just been looking over the 'Abrahadabra' material itself. Sorry to say it appealed to me so little that as quickly as I have arrived I am leaving.
All the best to everyone, NN

:o_O: Oh.
Well, it might look a little dry I suppose, but working with it can be amazing, yes? No?
Oh well, can't win 'em all.
Wish you well on your journey anyway.
