What does the two of cups mean to you?

Note similarities and differences in the attached pics.

At first, it looks like two lovers, but then there is already the Lovers card which seems to be more about romance and sexual attraction, so this card suggests something else to me like spiritual connection and it is maybe even related to the Gnostic idea of a twin or someone who is like a twin to us even if they are our opposites in character, gender, interests etc. Maybe even someone that we ‘work’ with here on earth.

I have played around with the Tarot for many years now and the two of cups was never a card I really noticed until last winter. It occurred nearly every time I asked about someone I know, yet as far as I am aware, the person has no romantic interest in me; this must mean that we are close in another kind of way which I presume to be magickally. I have never quite sorted out the reason for the appearance of the card but after a many months of it turning up with a determined regularity, it never appeared again.

Do I consider my work with the person finished or have we accomplished something together that may never be known? Who knows? I feel no pain at the ‘loss’ because in some ways this person is much closer to me and yet the card no longer appears.

Its another little mystery, so, what does the two of cups mean to you?

There's far more in this card than I can go into here. But, I would like to make a couple of observations:

The two people in the card seem to have something (a present?) for the other. It is as if they are there to exchange gifts, of some sort.

The caduceus above the cups in the third card is very prevalent on the card from the deck I most often use. This would indicate that these gifts are of a Mercurian nature -- perhaps the ability to convert Quicksilver into the Philosopher's Stone. ;)

On my card the two figures are dressed very differently. The male is dressed in browns and reds (with roses on his vest). The female is dressed in blues and whites with a green wreath around her head. Perhaps they represent two halves of the Tarot -- the male is wands and disks; the female is cups and swords. If that is the case, there is far more to this meeting than appears.

At any rate, there is great friendship and harmony in this card. Reaching beyond the physical, this union of the two opposites represents deep, spiritual communication and interpersonal growth. Whether or not the two are aware of this exchange depends on their level of spiritual maturity.

Light, Life, and Love.

For a Peace Profound,
