Hermes garden chapter I. (ex. libris de gratus mortus)

In the last of time there was a man who stood up on the mount " versus" and forced the seas to bow to him, and so the mountains called to him to find a home and lay there. Poor Hermes could'nt comprehend the frail things words so he tripped off into the valleys below and trampled in the green earth and took in the sun light for a while . he Smiled a big grin and lay back in it trying to find shapes in the clouds above him and to find shapes in himself to guide him along the way.

He had been dreaming a while and was trying to remind himself of it as the return to the land of mena meant to have a power he could not understand entirely but could have an influence on more that the land of the waking which he had inhabited. He remembered when he fell asleep but it was almost as if it was yesterday and both a thousand years ago at the same time. That moment felt as if lived in the same moment that he was in at the present moment puffing on a shag cigarette and watching it creep farther back into the past like some alive creature and the future walking closer to him in the shape of a tree.

The tree bore a load of apples and carried with it a snake like presence shining its reptile eyes and hissing uncontrollably in the growing din that followed it. It glared at poor hermes as so did the past as it left him, and his current moment was none to thrilled to be ignored as well so it sat at pouted riding right next to him and kept trying to tell him to avoid his last visiter and to keep the future far in mind, cause it seemed to haunt him a bit.

"Present?" hermes called , and present turned around and gave him a quick glance. "did I just chop that mountain down?".

Present answered "yes, but it went with your past visiter and strayed off into the netherworld. I could not see exactly It was with me for a moment and then faded away"

Hermes shook his head and gazed at his destination which he was aware of but could not place in his near reach, it seemed to stretch farther away as he traveled closer to it always eluding him and present was quickly perturbed that he kept being asked about how to get to the netherworlds and would quickly clam up. Hermes then would keep asking his present ,a creature that seemed far wiser that what he had once been with a second ago and a thousand years prior. He also seemed far wiser that creature that so eluded him on his quest to find the temple of truth that was made of jade and emeralds somewhere in the far reaches of this fertile country.

Once caught in the quandary of being both in the beginning of time and in the birth of the end of time he slowly sank deeply in the grass below the tree and ate an apple that it had given him in pity for his sad position, the present knew that he was not easily out of the circumstance but still felt not to draw him towards his destination as he had been bouncing unrelentlessly back and forth through the held territorys of these three entitys, even if they did basically hold the same small piece of land in the center of maya somewhere.

Through his travels though it was a venturing through the lands of what was that taught him the profession that allowed for a continuing forward. Did hermes bear a burden? That trickster and devil of the gods whom perilously trod the earth for his own recognance and purpose? Hermes shrugged to himself and took a bite from the apple trying to put something together even as his traveling companion tried to once more bring to light his quandaries end.

Beside him with the ever knowing present stood a mistress whom had kept him company after the last venture deep into the river nile and alongst the pyramids built high to set her bountys worth with labors book. So she came with him, farther along the rivers outskirts farther along the bank into some garden that she had'nt seen before but which was well spoken of by her peoples slaves whom called themselves the judes and kept true to the one who inhabited there which they called "oh grand un-nameable" and would speak of its greatness as it would have created them as Adam or his wife whom bore the first of mankind.

At the moment the lady shook in some weak state and having eaten from the presents gift awoke again into her own current state and almost seemed to have a giddy youthfulness about her as she too lay back under the soothing shade below the tree which had done its best to make them forget about its close relative haunting about in the deserts that surrounded this oasis of peace. She bore a child somewhere in that desert not in the place she was and conceived it behind in the presents path that stretched behind them, it was if she could'nt see it if it was'nt for where she had been.

The Judes warned her that the garden was in a place that took learning and a solemn devotion to its secrecy. If she were to step one foot their she would have to prove her purity of spirit to the angels assigned to guarding its gates, that when she entered she should learn the truth about her traveling companion and his voyage and in return she would teach him of where he has been- being that his ancestors were the first to discover that land that bore the First crop of the speaking trees who would teach her of the old ways and the birth of the gods.

Hermes glanced over to the lady and asked " why do your people call me Thoth?". The bride pondered a bit and spoke" because you are the one who guides us to the spirit lands which the gods reside and some days return", she bowed a bit and head still lowered continues" if you were from any other place how could you not be so highly spoken of by the sages and prophets in this land. Hermes closed his eyes a bit and returned her words with a bit of wisdom that he had himself learned from her" I could never be that of which you speak, I am merely a creature which is lost as well in the between places of the menas, I have come seeking as well to find order to this place that I now inhabit for I once had been in a land farther north and should soon return."

"what land? My people have spoken of you for a long time past and have not told any tales of your land that you have traveled from, some say that you tricked the gods to allow you to walk amongst us and profit off of your knowledge starting schools of mages and molding mens minds to believe in them. "

Hermes smiled, and sat meditating under the tree which was trapping them there. Its branches strung over them in a protective fashion and blocking the heavy heat that was pouring down on them from the sky above. He wisely pointed over to the hanging ghost that he had been chasing for a while now as it sits over a pair of grand mountains and continues to try to console his traveling companion. Hermes then spoke" woman , you are just the same in years as me and have walked just as far to this place that we have yet to fully see- do you think us a pair of blind beggars? Me the Brahman, and the messanger of the gods, me Known to you as Thoth , and you a queen of this land once the sole inheritance of the grand jude kings and their enemies."

Hermes waved his hand slowly over the horizon and again pointed his hand in a direction , but this time to where they had came from speaking " this is the kingdom which you have come and before us shall be new kingdoms, but be warned that in its discovery you will destroy the kingdoms behind you as they crumble away in their passing behind your feet- so then Dear queen we are in the only land that should ever remain standing and is built over the lands that we have traversed."

The queen ached a bit and in digesting the words of Hermes came to a understanding of the land Mena and its residing creatures. She had known them only in her looking for them and at the second that she needed to find a guide here they would transpose and invoke themselves to bring her along the path that she could not see looking back or even looking far into the outreaches beyond her further down.

The creatures only knew of what they had around them and soon as she would step farther forward she would find one replacing the other knowing more of what she would find and more about what she had discovered. But along the path dear hermes who had came to get her a years passing ago would return to check on her travels and what she had learned about the land that would be her inheritance so far down the road.

He would some times ask her riddles to see if she had learned what she needed to travel on and would test her knowing of herself as she got closer to what her slaves called the "sacred tree" that resided in the belly of the breathing land that she traversed, in the middle of this breathing creature lye that land of mena of which all the creatures were parasites to the higher being and worked in unity with its parts and helped to keep its health well and to maintain its structure as they would pass on eventually into another realm and then another would replace them.

All but the higher creatures , its immortal servants wandering the stretch of its infinite planes reworking its creation and making sure the servant mortals kept well in there trade for a happy home in its deep expanse and bowels that would prove impossible otherwise to travel , being that no other creature but its own could go the great distance and keep any sort of youthfulness about them in the years it took for them to cross the vastness that had been filled so quickly with the globes and stars that hung themselves on the masters presence.

Here on the globe Maya deep within the lands of mena and deep seers the queen got lost and if was'nt for the help of dear hermes would not have found the garden buried deep in speaking and hidden behind a wall set with the gilded seals of the prophets to warn any passing mortal of the dire consequences of any one entering, even that it sat high on a hill by the river and for all too see besides the kingdom of those who built a tower in which to see into this garden so highly placed and well guarded.

In some ways the guidance of hermes had helped her find her way there and left her speechless in the launguge of the king Adelphi for he was warned not to allow her to unite those two lands in the knowledge of the secrets of the gardens- so she was struck dumb until entering only bearing a traveling companion and witness whom spoke of her highness and told men to keep their heads bowed before her if they wished to pay her proper respect.

In the lands of Babylon she cried out with a vengence on those whom blasphemed the name of thoth like a banshee wailing along with the traveling minstrel that strummed a lyre telling bards tales of her journeys and gathering monies from those who would give her shelter in the last stretch of their passage.

They had met in the garden before and now returned to the garden through a land that had grown in a thousand years labor divied out now seeing that the tower falling had brought forth a division amongst the inhabitants of mena, whom spoke a launguage of unprecedented power and had a culture that was built upon the tenets that they learned in the gathering of those in that day whom had built the tower to see into the gates of heaven , and see the paradise that they had worked so hard to return to after their fathers fathers had been expelled.

The queen seeking refuge once more in the garden being at once at the beginning and the end of her adventures bluntly sat dumbfounded knowing where she was and where that she was traveling to . She was now pregnant with child and returned to where she had conceived it at all the time only left for a measured amount of time and then returned before that time had passed. That in itself drove her a bit disturbed in the comfortable grass and the shade that cooled her so. That she came here to conceive of the presence of that who lived there bore no more confusion that she already had come before and that was here to give birth to this child.

Hermes rubbed on her belly and shook with a loud guffah , sitting back to his meditation and focusing on where he should lead this woman once more as she grew aware of the presents gift to her. He merely dumbly grunted a bit and kept a steady hand on the tree as he ate its fruit and lost himself in what had supplanted his previous adventures as the simple words that spoke out of him seemed merely a recanting of those spirits that drove him to this woman in the first place, as his own visage was granted a priviledge of seeing beyond his own world that he inhabitied and to understand these people who had made themselves a home surrounding that land that was his kings and masters, as well as its royal family paving the roads for the next visitors coming around and trying to share the wonders that were to be found by nudging them with prompts and trite questions that would bring forth pictures in the pilgrims heads. Like the humble servant he had become it his own sarifice of his own life, he had changed in is own way and found this girl to be one that he might just take well too. Even in his shambles of finance here was a grand princess allowing him a prensence of the worlds worth. Her name might restore that of grand hermes, to its rightfull aire and place amongst the people, of his true heritage met.

Still , the evils of man left him dumbstruck and witless , they intoxicated him and left him dumbstruck with a empty head and poor reasons. It was as if his gods would now allow him to romance the south, romance the fertile niles valleys and gulleys.

As who was before sat amidst him Hermes cried "gift" and re responded- gift crying out- "who is it that I am?". And hermes then bowed a bit and gave due reverance to the masters call. "whom is this that speaks me a common name? Whom is this who gives credit?". And hermes returned " the one whom is a son and now a father".

Yaweh settles hard. "have you given child?". And hermes answered . It was the spirit , I could not contain it- I was lost in lands of bounty , in gilded splender… and then here I lay in this garden of Hers…a gift given to her by her servant judes whom were granted freedom. And she told me of this place and I sook it and the mastery of this image that took to my head, and then I found a way of forming the dreams and the dreams would come to me more and more often.

"how did you come to the princress? "

" I had been held captive and sold at auction to a pair of her fathers men, he had kept me as a prophet - a seer of fortunes and keeper of that knowledge that was given to you from my father. That wisdom kept as your full spoken name, and the traditions that had been passed down. I had known may of the judes whom sook my knowledge and told me of my goodness to yaweh that I had done. So then I sought you relentlessly and tried to call you out, not knowing your true name, and so then did I come to the elders of your people and learn of the tree. After doing this I kept well telling fortunes to the grand king who kept easy on my people as I had proven my worth."

And so went hermes telling his master of the doing he had done, this wise prescence and the keeper of all grand knowledge who had a paticular habit of collecting mens dreams and adventures. Oh this noble sage wrote such good prose in his greatest of days in which he would keep locked up in his head until he next would come visit in the garden with dear servants speaking of his mastering of their formed words. For the master however the intellect would tire of the entirety of the blunt questioning as he did have a vast library of his observations in the halls of the conscripted heaven that he had set back in a territory long off. No one but the highest of the elders were even allowed to speak his name, as the repercussions would cause a grand bit of chaos to enter the lands he inhabited. The presence being of such a strong force the father would often cause his peoples minds to become as mere scattered fragments. Only those that have learned enough of the learning had been allowed to call for cassia and the great tree. And only under that tree would the spirit come.

So as the spirit passed time did return to where it had been they first came. To the garden of eden that drugging of strange senses that would come under it. Now hermes a father of a grand prince and a king of a great nation that would honor him as a lord among all his people- the great scribe of the gods - THOTH, the keeper of the records of the halls of the dead and bearer of burden of truth.

He should at then return back to the islands that he had became but through this journey he had seen a way far past the knolege that he seeked. But his fame would only play out as a minor player having to return to the great island and lecture on the ways of its doers

And how the great spirit had come once more and brought peace back to a burdened land.
