Hieros Gamos - Holy Wedding or Sacred Coupling

Hamos Gamos in various forms appears to be a very ancient ritual which has in some shape or form remained in just about every religion and spiritual disapline from the modern buddhist tantric practises to popular views of the relation between Jesus and Mary Magdalene, from ancient egyptians and sumerian practises to those of the aztecs and folowers of many modern and old cults.

Hamos Gamos greek for 'Holy Wedding' is a sexual ritual of copulation between a man and a woman in which both participants take on or channel a respective deity i.e one male and female.

I wonder if anyone has produced a listing of the different formats of these rituals and the deities specifically imagined taken from different traditions?

or can give a better more fuller explanation of specific hamos gamos rituals?
