Not really my kind of thing, or actually perhaps it is a question of time and digestion rather than taste...

Although I love the name!

Some of those tracks were less than others... The second is the best... They strike me as a band who would be very good for live jams involving mushrooms...

oh they're into disharmonic noise

I used to know this guy who was in totally head over heels for me who was way into that stuff, so I remember it, but otherwise I don't listen to it much.

I don't like live music either, generally, unless it's really good. crowds annoy me...unless, well, it's a crowd of occultists, then it's fine tuned....

Well, they flirt with noise, but there' pretty melodic generally. They're basically a gritty-grimy psychedelic rock band... There is Way Way Way more noisy stuff out there. Look up John Zorn or Nurse With Wound, or Genesis P'Orridge... (Throbbing Gristle). Music for the sake of texture over melody... it's actually HUGE where I grew up (Ottawa), mostly because of Montreal. The French Canucks can even out-do the Germans on that front now...

You know you're far gone when you can actually weigh the merits of one noise band over another... it's not JUST noise, lol. Tim Hecker is a really really good one... One effect that listening to noise ambient had on me was that I sortof stopped being all that into buying music... You begin to really dig on ambient sound itself... I haven't had an Ipod or Walkman or anything like that in years... I just listen to my environment...

Crowds of occultists... can be good. Can be awful... depends on what qualifies an occultist, really... It's sometimes nice to be the sole Magi in a particular space... We got a role to play, but I don't think we should entertain the hope that everyone's gotta play that role... Blessed shall be the few and secret, and all that... But I might be wrong... let the Universe play that one out!

I hate the few and secret, I think everyone is a magician and I had to think that one through and get yelled at by m1thr0s over it....

oh I don't know if he really yells...it's a figure of speech.

but it could have happened...really

:D

I'm glad you like noise, I meant that experimetal noise stuff with the ear shredding screeches and things like that...not guitar or drum, just Noise....

Are magician's necessarily occultists? It seems like everyone can emit a will-pulse on some level or other, and thus warp/direct the continuum... many folk do so only very nominally, some do with powerful intensity, and yet aren't occultists... Secrecy has the adantage of letting you pull off miracles... I can handle experimental noise, but what I prefer is just sound... Jeez, there's a peice by John Zorn on his album 'The Hermetic Theatre', called Beuyzeblock, or something like that, which is basically like a piano sonata, only the piano is very simple and minimal and accompanied by like 90 odd different instruments such as: Blood, Honey, a circular saw, an iron pipe, the carcass of a hare, 83 dollars in cash, and so on... Oh, and maracas... We used to listen to it after shows for weirdness sake.

Intentionally iercing the veil of the hidden is an occultist to me, some others take a different stance, I suppose...I don't hide my miracles....father nature doesn't either...

Well, I guess as a performing magician, by the very nature of the art, I am inclined to respect secrets. I mean, if you knew that Criss Angel just had a Fake Leg that came out of his velcro-ed trousers, and all he was doing was stepping up on a ledge with his concealed foot, then, well, it'd be less cool to see. Or maybe more cool, who knows... Put it this way, I'm not 'for' nasty ass creeps secretly controlling all our lives and making them shitty just to maintain some weird fetish they may have, (ala fundamentalist Christian Right) but I do like to keep the elephant of surprise on the go, if you know what I mean, and that means, having 'occulted means'. Occult is hidden, is secret... it's true.

This would be more ambient noise than hardcore noize, but it's nice, still... I love the sound of oscillating fanbelts and freeway overpass...

Oh check this out. John Zorn is a BADASS noize guy, but of course, he's way more... this is Masada... Lots of his stuff has magickal/kabbalistic/mystic stuff. Jewish end of the spectrum...

YouTube - John Zorn - Gevurah

Saw them play, loved it, would do it again. And again.

Yes, everyone should have a connection to it, that's what I believe. It's a hard path to travel, so there are few.

hmmm. well I used to listen to these guys (literally this group) live and cd so I'm not one for laid back and subtle...it's gotta be loud, brutal and totally devilish. Even this is too tame. pussies.;)

The Flute Music experience at the Indian Reservation War Memorial at Wounded Knee really moved me,The offerings to the Daemonn or spirits.I am really privelaged to see the scenery, the rolling plains & hills. What a beautiful place.

Did you see Chief Sitting Bulls Ghost Dance Shirt, the one which was returned from Glasgow after nearly 100 years since a Sioux Indian survivor of wounded knee traded it here(Dennistoun,Glasgow) when he was with Buffalo Bills Wild West show.
Do you reckon the Sins of the Fathers thing, the curse that followed the Sioux nation after they dishonoured Sitting Bulls pact with great spirit to get victory at the Little Big Horn is over & unification can begin again?

I'm sending that place all the love I have & some daemonn I liberated at the weekend who are expert horsemen that I found deep underground, buried.

That was real special, kinda inspired me to do some Scott stuff with bagpipes & Ulster Scott with Flutes.
