Those who know me know I'm heavy into ritual, and treading a dual path where both involve ritual makes it easy,I'm wondering.my four main tools are an offering bowl,a censer,an athame, and an altar cloth, plus various colored candles.
Other tools are a wand,a staff,a scourge,a sword,and a measure stick[Egyptian path,lol]
what do you use when you work up some energy?

I am perhaps a little more zen with respect to meditation sessions (ritual varies with the specific rit intended)...
I am good with:
a private room that will not be disturbed for many hours at a time.
a low strong table draped simply in a solid black cloth.
2, sometimes 3, tapered beeswax candles, preferable black, with a replacement set in spare.
comfortable seating but low, cushions, pillows...no chairs...
music system and a good selection of music to last at least 8 hours.
something to act as a fulcrum which might be many things, magic mirror, talisman, crystal etc...the thing that will serve as the focal point of directed energy.
something to serve as a short wand...I am actually partial to certain pens if they are strong and elegantly crafted.
writing materials...set aside and not to dominate the set.
food, wine, smoke, incense, sacraments all easily accessible.
wall hangings, images, decorum harmonious and nothing cheap or common...a room surrounded with either no images or else images that uplift and inspire.
and that's mostly it...I may add something if I forgot anything.
m1thr0s
damn, that takes some scrilla, sounds tight though
do you actually turn it out or are you just layin back in the cut lavishly?
I know my idea is lame but it's all I have since my life fell apart and before that red victoria's secret robes and a busted stick for a wand maybe with a little abramelin oil. ghetto.
it is what it is.

Not to forget the fireplace and grey italian marble floors. ^_^

Meditative music, preferably something I made myself.
Various forms of insense
A small table, decorated with verious symbols and sigils of personal origin.
A very old mirror
Tattered bronze dagger
Robes and cloth
Pendants
Pen and paper.
I also drink and smoke various legal herbs specialized for different occasions.
An example: Calea zacatechichi for things that rely heavily on visualisation (Enochian Magick ++) or astral workings.

Oh gosh not again, damn browserzzZZzz! I was going to write a long post and then I accidentally hit the home button so the browser went to google and as usual when I hit "Go Back" all the freakin text is gone! *SIGH*
Anyways, I have carpentry in my veins so to say. So I pretty much like to create as many things that I possibly can or can learn to create myself. (and thusfar atleast when it comes to practical things I fortunately learn exremely quickly)
I usually dont go about looking for items, eg Athame for Rituals. I try to rely as much as possible on synchronicity ;)
The thing is that my father has always been somewhat of a "fencer" of like, everything.. and he is also an antiquities collector (we are a working class family so we dont got like, cash..) But my father has gathered alot of cool stuff through the years (alot through fencing stolen stuff) and he still gets hold of really awsome things from time to time. Fortunate for me! :P
So to the point then, if I dont create the stuff that I need myself then I come across really sweet items through my father anyhow.
Im planning on carving a huge Shiva Nataraja statue in wood someday, to have out in our country estate/summer house (which I btw will inherit one day together with all of my dads Loads!! of stuff, since Im their only child..)
Im also going to carve a Rune stone in traditional Swedish style and place it out there too. Perhaps Ill even manage to create several stones and statues over the years, maybe Ill even make some to sell?
Hell! Im still only 23 years old! :D
Anyways, so far I havent gathered that many of the things that you "usually" need for "standard" magickal rituals, but I havent really commenced my magickal work for "real" yet anyway. Not in the "original" sense anyway..
Well I suppose thats it for now? ;)

I hate when that happens, did that with a pm the other day. Sculpture is a good field if you find the right market, wood doesn't seem as popular as stone or metal though, but you can find some beautiful wooden sculptures on National Geographic's Novica website. You havn't commenced magickal work for "real" yet? What do you mean, like out of a book or something? I think most of us here started as children so I bet there is probably something you remember from then that was actually real magick.
What's a fencer of stolen stuff, I don't get that part lol...

You know what! Ive been thinking that for quite some time now too!
Naomi (http://forums.abrahadabra.com/member.php?u=148), Thanks for the reply!
What I meant by "real" and "original", was that I havent started to work in (through? with?) any specific system. Like Crowleys A.A or Peter Carrolls Chaos Magick system or whatever, you know..
But I do recognize what you mean when you say that most of us allready started as children :)
The "natural" and real work begins at birth, as does the "magickal" ;)

Anyone ever see a stupid Sorcerer?
Not a dabbler,a Sorcerer. There was this kid on my forum[Naomi probably remembers him!]who kept trying to insert all kinds of bizziare substitutions in the formulae, tapwater for rainwater, daisies for roses, junk like that comes to mind.
He disappeared and no one can find him.
No, I don't remember him, but I definately believe in having the right plants on hand, since the DNA code is what you want, and rain water comes from the sky, not the ground, so it's charged with heaven energy instead of metal/earth energy :)
I remember Shang Tsung from OF who used a tuna can lid for a sigil base and a rubber skeleton as props in a Goetia evocation...

Ah,I LOVE the fact you understand so completely!I wish my students were all as wise as you!you should come read house of Magus on LHP,I get the feeling you would appreciate it!

I think Shang was the guy I was talking about, not sure.he changed his name when he came to Void.
Thank you, I will as soon as I remember my username/password.
I also think magick is about seeing something great, so sometimes if you get the BODY itself working for you, tapwater may change into rainwater and DNA itself can shapeshift, one trains the inner eye on splitting apart molecules and riding time itself so we can never be truly sure what changes have been made. Really,it's all in the panache
