System Upgrade v3.7.0

We lost a little functionality on this one. I am aware of it and will be reinstalling the mods involved...

v3.7 was a biggie and a few mods will have to be updated with it.

the new *conversation* feature might be fun...I haven't played around with it yet and you can only use it with one person at a time from what i can tell...but hey...it's a new toy and vBulletin has been sort of dancing around the idea of developing in-forum chat functionality, so this may be a first step towards that...I think that's what's up with the new PM menu as well...so you can receive different kinds of alerts etc...

I'm not too likely to use it much myself...there's only just so much idle talk I can handle before I start breaking shit...:laugh:

PhotoPost Pro is still coming btw...haven't forgotten or anything. I needed to get vB 3.7 installed first and update a few mods and so on...trim out a few things...and I need to make sure PhotoPost is keeping up with vB's releases but I think they are.

Site may be down for a bit getting it all configured...next day or two I think...

I think that's so we don't have a hard time finding something with obscure thinks to search for? Like if we need a post with "ng" or "dna" in it we can tag the thread with Ningishzidda or genetics or something so it's easier to search for later. (you can't search for stuff with three letters or less)

Might be my settings but now all the images doesn't work as well anymore on Safari... but on Firefox it works fine.

Instead of some of the buttons etc there is a big blue-ish questionmark.

that's pretty strange since the images are mostly gif images and I don't think any of them were changed in the upgrade...might try a right-click-->properties to see what they read out as. I haven't seen anything like that so far on either explorer or firefox...

Not only that, but all of the unknown images in the upper right hand corner of the right hand side content boxes are broken as well....

I don't get it, are "albums" the gallery feature we're supposed to use for our art? Is that the image software?

that's funny...firefox just doesn't display anything while explorer displays the broken image links...

thanks for reporting those. these are new images that vB has included without telling anybody. It's no problem if you just use their ugly generic design template and upload the full update package including all images. Those of us with custom boards have to update without images and then meticulously go through the boards replacing new images one at a time...

please report these when you find them...they might show up anywhere...the ones you just reported have been identified and uploaded. refresh your browser and it should all be ok...

Well now the fault that I mentioned with the questionmarks is sorted... although on the right side where you have pics of your friends there is an image that can't be seen in Safari for example and that is when a member doesn't have an avatar. Look in my profile (http://forums.abrahadabra.com/member.php?u=261) and at Ritual Kiss...

The image that replace her missing avatar is an X or a ?.

huh...I never monitor that crap but I may need to put a security cap on conversations...it's a new feature and vBulletin hasn't explained it very well...I'll look into it.

I'm not real keen on that...vBulletin seems to have opened this up to *visitors* when most forums I know of would prefer it were exclusive to members.

thanks d...new features will be the most likely to be missing images.

it saves time all around when you find one of these to do a right-click on the missing image and copy the properties line, then give that to me...

in the one I just fixed the properties is: http://forums.abrahadabra.com/images/styles/abrahadabra/buttons/upload_pictures.png

this tells me what the image is (upload_pictures.png) and where it should be (buttons folder) and means I don't have to go looking for the page that gets me there...

just a little faster that way...

I think I sorted out how to prevent the spiders from viewing conversations btw...it was a new default permission assigned to non-members/guests allowing them to view that type of content. I shut it down and haven't seen the spiders viewing since...or if you see a little stop-sign it means they tried and got busted...

I'll keep an eye on it...
