One of our moderators just discovered this: v3.7 has changed the default email display value from no to yes without seeing fit to tell anybody. This means any member can get hold of your email address whether you want them to or not. This board isn't as plagued with spammers as much as others but this is still something you'll want to attend to.

Users can override this new default setting.

In the User CP:
--> Settings & Options
--> Email Options
--> [ ] Receive Email from Other Members

Uncheck that box and your email address will disappear from public view.

I'll restore the registration default settings but at this point registered members will need to set this however they want it...

sorry for the hassle...that was just plain dumb on vBulletin's part.

Better change this right away.

non-members cannot access this information at least (I just verified as a guest viewer) and the weird thing is that not all users appear to have been affected by this. A random sampling indicates that some user settings are still set to *no*, so I have no idea what's up with that. Some glitch in the upgrade of some kind...

So check it...make sure it's set how you want it.

Odd that they changed it. Thanks for announcing it.

It appears to be more a matter of having changed the way the email contact itself displays. In the old version you would click on the email contact link and the system would forward your message to the recipient without displaying their email address. Now you click on it and it brings up the email address so you can see it. Some members may have opted to be contacted by email via the old system that don't want their actual email address displayed to just anybody who clicks on that link...

non-members can't access it but I'm not sure about search engine spiders...
