I saw this here introduction area and said, "hey, they have an introduction area. I bet they'd like it to get used." The power of reading. ;)

I'm a firm believer in preparedness. To me, to be ready for zombies is to be ready for anything. You're not locked in to being ready for a flood or a fire you can adapt. Hence the zombie gun club. Better than the damn boy scouts by far-we have liquor. And guns. :ninja:

So that's my hobby. Being ready for the apocalypse. If I die you can have my stuff.

Otherwise, I'm an artist with a focus on sculpture. I do paint and draw as well though. Whatever it takes to get the idea out.

So, I guess the rest you can learn in context. I'm not the autobiography type if ya dig.

Thanks for the intro Z...

Some pics of your sculpture would be fun if you happen to get around to it! :)

welcome to abrahadabra forums!

Hello, Zgc...

To echo m1thr0s, I'm interested in seeing some of your art...

Thanks for the welcome.
Some of the things I make, probably the ones that would be of most interest here actually :p , I just don't take pictures of for personal reasons, but I'm sure I have something laying around.

I've been rather enjoying your posts MythMath. Sacred Geometry is an interest of mine.
Are there any posts of interest dealing with the effects of color on humans? What is the word for that? Thanks for taking the time.

[Re: color fx on humanoids] Biochromaticism...?

I don't recall any threads specifically about colors, per se...

I know there have have been mentions of color vs sound
frequencies and the various King et Queen color scales, etc.
but it seems like we do need more 'colorful' threads...

In psychology we learned that some colors do certain things.
A blue light will keep you from eating and orange will make you eat more-that kind of thing. OK
But I had this customer...

He wanted indigo.
Oil? Acrylic? Colored Pencil? Whaddaya need buddy?

He said it didn't matter. They all have the same frequency. He intended to stare at an indigo piece of paper in anticipation of his meeting with the IRS.

He went on at some length about the more mystical side effects of color meditation.

Rothko was into this as well I think.

Something else for the toolbox if it's workable.

Intergalactic Radiotelekinesis Society

different IRS...conference login screens are always indigo...:o_O:

who knows...

colors have all kinds of dynamics. Orange is said to agitate people into action which is interesting because Mercury has this color in the usual Tree of Life spread...favorite color of fast-food joints because it makes people want to finish up and go...

there are nobler applications obviously...

I regularly use color correspondences in my spellwork - my own grimmoire has got a little bit of this and a little bit of that, with a bit of backround on some major color correspondences, and I am happy to send you a couple pages if you like.

I have often read in various pagan and wiccan trads that wearing blue to a job interview will help one with a "glamour" of trustworthiness....haven't ever consciously tried it myself though - so can't really speak to its efficacy. Many hoodoo and voodoo spells also involve the color blue or indigo in terms of persuading another individual to see things from the spellworker/practioner's perspective.

There are also many folks, some of them probably right here, who work with the Indian "chakras" and their color correspondences, though, again, that is not something that I, personally, have worked with much.

I will try and dig up some more "scientific" type information on the matter...now I'm a bit curious myself.

thanks, btw, for the most excellent intro - it's a great addition to AF to have you here, imo.
welcome.

Thanks for all the nice words. I appreciate you inviting me Persephone.

The fellow I met was convinced that altered states of consciousness could be achieved just by staring at color. Isn't that true of anything that one might stare at?

So, here's the latest thing I'm working on and a less cryptic reason for no pictures.

So, this log that looks like a torso was moaning at me from where it had so unfairly been imprisoned in a dead tree.
Being the kind of person I am I risked my own death by climbing a dead tree in the middle of nowhere to save this bit of lovely. With a chainsaw.

This isn't my first time.
What I do with these pieces of wooden anatomy is to carve and polish them until they satisfy the Renaissance Master that lives in my head.
Then I throw knives at them. Perfection sitting right next to damage. It makes the perfection perfect only when it's juxtaposed with the scarring and decay.

This piece of wood is already rotting. I might not throw anything at it at all. But in either case, when I'm "done", I'll coat it in a clear waterproof dip. Any further deterioration will happen inside of that-Like an ant farm.

Finally, I'll take it back to where I found it. Unsigned unreported unmentioned.

I bow to you all. Have a great day.

At the risk of sounding naughty - that is a mighty handsome bit of wood there.

I hope you will take at least one more pic, preferably several, while you are working, before you put it back so we can all enjoy it a bit before you leave it for others to discover (or not).

Great project!

I sure 'wood' love to happen upon one of
these finished works while out on a walk...

I don't know if I'd think it was 'intended' for
me to find, and therefore take it home...

Or leave it in situ for subsequent viewers
(or vandals) to appreciate it further...

It would probably depend on its weight... :p

Some years ago I spent all day setting up some unfired clay masks. Back and forth, up and down the mile long trail. These things were fragile and meant to deteriorate so I took lots of trips.

I climbed trees and tied them all over. I was quite satisfied with the horror of it all and took some pictures. The intent was to come by once a week or so and document the deterioration.

The next day I went out there to massage my ego- and they were all gone. Probably twenty of these things. Not smashed or shot, just gone. Even the rope was gone. There weren't even any broken off clay bits on the trail.
Not just that, if you don't count the night in between, they took them down faster than I put them up. Amazing.
When someone likes your work enough to go to that much trouble you can't very well get mad when they take it. I was always taught that when you give a gift it is no longer yours to dictate how it gets used.

I have since stopped checking on "my" works. Whatever will be will be.
It's more fun looking for the next one than the last one.

Persephone- your wish is my command. I'll take pictures of this one as I get time to work. I think I'll make them Creative Commons though so I won't retain ownership.
