I have been studying Tysons Portable Magic, which is a great read on how to use Tarot for ritual magic.

I am also heavily influenced by Aristotle, especially his chief intellectual virtues, of which I focus on the following three:

epistime - deep historical knowledge
techne - craft
phroneis - practical wisdom

I use these three terms and some other symbols to construct my sigil but following Tyson I have assigned the following corresponding cards for my ritual:

episteme - the emperor
techne - temperance
phronesis - the magician

I construct a triangle and in the centre I place the knight of cups, my own signifcator card...

comments????

Also, have you designed your own cards...?

If not, which deck(s) do you use...?

jean noblet mostly but also rider waite

i was thinking of developing a 'virtue' spread using the virtues as positions and markers for the querent

as for the ritual, i have also have representations for other correspondences for the moon, water, and a numerological 3...

I am a little bit unclear as to what the purpose of this particular ritual is, which might very much effect which cards I, personally, might chose to use.

still, for you, I am more feeling:
episteme - the emperor
techne - the magician
phronesis - the king of cups, perhaps. or possibly Temperance even, or Wheel (?).

but you see, it would totally depend on the "real" purpose of your magic/ritual, you know? :o_O:

Do tell us more...

A ritual that contains representations of many of the correspondences for my personal identity in order to ground my inner self and provide a platform for deeper understanding and connection with the spiritual world.

I've been developing, for several years now, my own version of Tarot Magick (long before Tyson's book). I've used it many times, as have others, and the results are significant. I'd be glad to share some of my understanding of Tarot Magick, as well as a few common spells -- if there is an interest, that is. ;)

Peace.

Then you should create a thread on your Tarot system!

I like Tyson's idea of Taort cards representing visual and astral platforms for the magician, as of they are suspended magic carpets that rise into a vertical position for the best form of visualisation

Barring illness, I'll be posting an introduction to my Tarot Magick sometime this week. Stay tuned . . .

Peace, or not.
