Heh heh, I was always intruiges By Frank Herbert's idea of teh "Butlerian Jihad" that after the rise (and fall) of externalized technology, humanity evolves various non-machinic technologies that far surpass the efficency of machines... The whole Idea, for example of a 'Mentat', a human computer, who, from childhood has had a vary specific set of neuropathways structured into their learning process such that they can make calculations at Millions of times the speeds of our fastest computers... Just a thought...

Man, I have to admit...considering how complex all of this Mutational Alchemy stuff can get at times, I could make good use of being able to compute at millions of times the speed of computers...

Not to scare everybody...it doesn't have to get that convoluted at all...I'm just a sucker for puzzles within puzzles sort of thing...

Right now I am still sort of waiting on a de-encrypted version of the King Wen arrangement of the I Ching hexagrams for instance. That could easily chew up a whole lifetime (or two) and actually has done so for others already...

Do not be tricked the thread is absolutely right, without wanting to arise conspiracy scenarios, I would not expect any thing more from a kapitalistic society...I mean when economically, control over the masses is essential for the well-fare of the Capital and knowledge through research is liberating and ascending, does anyone think the opinion about Transhumanism would differ????

Transhumanism and ascensin are faced the same way throughout history

1) Mutational Alchemy in the middle ages was faced with the goldhunting of the philosophers stone and the Inquisition

2) I-Ching in the Maoic China was faced with executions and persecution , one of the greatest of I-Chings researchers escaped death cause luckinly Mao died before him

3) Tantra and Creative spirituality were at first prosperous in the newfound USSR but after Lenin's death, a philosophical movement that represented that the battle of the taxes exist spiritually, was mutilated and its leader, Rerih was killed...Soon after the people of GPU who studied in Rerih's Bon-Po cult were executed too...

well, technically, Mutational Alchemy has never really made its debut yet...it's just beginning to do that now.

And it's curious to me that it really does amount to a form of transhumanistic engineering but is not reliant upon one scientific model of reality alone but rather combines models from all points compass...

I think it may be the only real defense we are going to have against the more materially aggressive "capitalistic" transhumanism we see emerging...

That's true...it is. Awareness always is our strongest defense in the end. My hope is that in going directly to people one-on-one I will be able to bypass the "system" entirely since I have a real quandary with a thing like this...I need to get the word out but it's potentially a dangerous tool in the wrong hands...

Fortunately, there are a number of rather curious built-in defense mechanisms though... It will be very difficult, if not impossible, to actually deploy the thing improperly. What they would have to do is communicate it's properties so badly as to render the thing useless...

Imo our brains are already quantum computers. It's just a matter of how they are used. Which means that with the right frequency, whatever one tunes the mind/awareness towards gets answered the second one asks the question.

This is possible with all symbols and pictures evolving around the matter also.

I agree. The less we 'out-source' to technologies which depend on devices external to us the better, I think. Dont' get me wrong I am aware that I am doings so all the time, but I think it's always best to be able to fall back on what we have immediately. Maybe a 'transhuman' hybrid would be able to do that, but I'd hate to have a whole whack of implants, and then find myself without the resources to maintain them.... Maybe I just don't know enough about the real transhumanist stance. I've read a fair deal of good sci fi though...

While I could make a plethora of jokes about people wanting to "transcend" humanity by cramming circuitry up their butts, I'm actually on the other hand genuinely concerned that this movement will be taken seriously, and what the consequences of that might be, particularly because of the way technology operates. I was told by an air force pilot that the military had cable internet as we had it in the late nineties waaaaay back in the 70's. By all accounts he wasn't pulling my leg, and if this particular example is true, imagine what the government might have their hands on as it is now.

Thankfully, bio-nanotech is designed not to need batteries. They derive electricity from your bodily fluids, such as your blood or saliva. It's like how you can run a digital clock from a potatoe or a glass of pepsi by using the right type of electrodes.

I don't have much of an issue with nanotech being used to increase the efficency and accuracy of our current medical technology - like directly targeting cancer cells with chemo-drugs or nanobots in toothpaste breaking tartar off my teeth. It's when we get to the point of doing things like enhancements that push our bodies beyond our natural abilities that it starts to get a bit iffy. I'd rather not use robots designed by, say Microsoft or Dell, to modify my body - at least not without knowing exactly what the effects are and how it works.

In a somewhat related note, I happen to think that human cloning is totally fine if used as a fertility technology. I think it may even be more "natural" than in vitro fertilization. I object to people being cloned for spare parts, however. That just turns my stomach.

Can you clarify? Do you mean that it doesn't matter if we agree with the uses of technology or not, that it will be developed and used in these ways regardless? If that's what you mean, then I agree that you're probably right. There are a lot of powerful (ie. rich) corporations and individuals who have a vested interest in these technologies. There is a lot of momentum behind it that would be very difficult to counter. Some or all of these technologies may already be developed and in use out of the public eye.

It would be pointess of us to thrash against the tide of corporate empirism anyway...that's going to happen no matter what. The classical Chinese take on all of that renders it all the force of the Yin in things and what it tells us is something pertaining to its balanced opposite. In the future (beginning right now) what is really relevant in terms of so-called spirituality (ie, the Yang) is going to have an increasing amount to do with taking control of our own biological mechanisms in the here-and-now and a lot less to do with any after-the-fact ascenscion to heaven or whatever... Either we do this on our own in our own ways, or it will eventually be done for us in ways we did not necessarily choose.

It's a lot easier to steer a stampede than it is to stop it...

I was just trying to say that a confrontation with the matterialistic world is something that we cannot avoid but the real thing here is that the deep control and understanding someone can achieve with his whole existance cannot be matched with anything...

Surely, technology has served at some point humanity and still does now, but the whole system of links humanity has created with the matterial part, thus leaving the energy and spirit behind is something sad and serious...

I believe that for spirituality with its deep understanding does not answer the tricky question of matter or spirit ? Spirituality by understanding the trinary state of existance is the question and needs not answers...

I personally think that any occultist who thinks otherwise either doesn't know what he or she is doing or doesn't know how to do it. Call me arrogant, but that's what I think and I think I'll stick to it.

Hmmm... is deserving to be a cyborg a good thing or a bad thing? haha. Seems to me the majority of people are already half robot. Might as well actually replace their human organs with cybernetics. Would make it easier to control them.

Yes, I do agree it is a self fulfilling prophecy. I'll just go ahead and hold on to that belief and perhaps it will give you some more momentum. :p

When I am around machinery mostly it feels very serene and calm, even in the case of large machinery there is no malice there despite what is portrayed in that scary movie by Stephen Spielberg featuring a homicidal semi truck.

I was handling Greg's Sigarms pistol the day before yesterday and trying to discern the feelings I got from it. It felt a bit more serious than other items I have encountered. Very serious. Whether this was the German make or the fact it had been used in combat I had no idea but it was an interesting feeling, and also there was loyalty there, and perfectionism, but again, no malevolence.

All of that is just talk, but I had one instance where I did get evidence of machines having a spirit or at the very least, psychic ability when I was driving home in our new Honda Hybrid which had just arrive from the factory in Japan. Greg asked it offhand as we were driving what it's name was. He concentrated for a second and said "Sejuro." I replied, "No, that's not right, he says "Sochiro."

So we decided our car's name was "Sochiro" Later that week I went on Honda's website to look up something about the car and I was astonished to find out the founder of Honda was named 'Soichiro Honda', something neither of us knew.

Haha!

So, for me, there is just as much spirit in technology as there was thousands of years ago when the new technology of swords was invented, and the makers knew that too had a spirit. Furthermore, native americans today call their cars or trucks their war ponies and treat them like people too.

We may give them spirit by instilling it in them when we make, cherish and use tools and machinery, but the spirit is still there, nonetheless.

The neat thing, is once you get it switched-on and running, and burning momentum.. there is nothing on this planet which can stop it, not even you... But, should you skip a process in construction, your foundationless base cannot sustain any cosmic weight.. and your whole reality will come tumbling down the moment it is scrutinized...

Changing the old ways word, "sorcery", to "transhumanism".. merely tosses out all the wisdoms of the Ancients, and starts everything back at square one, digging up all the old graves again... repeating and collecting every learn-ed thing, again, like it were something new.. like lost echoes, in the mountains, changing color on their own....

Does this describe a decreed blind-loop, or an non-decreed blind-loop..?
Or is it essentially taking an old poop, and inversing it, in the lab.. to avoid the need to confront any New, when all the old is at its end..?
Then run backwards, pretending the direction is forwards.. and simply start it all over again, seems to be this Culture's best working solution to running out of road...

I can see how it could be confusing.. it was a bitch to write... It's a futuristic thing... I see all the technology in my mind...

Basically... What's the science which will obsolete nearly all sciences of today?..
What's the next step?..

Oil can be made into synthetic replacement tissues and organs, to boost human life expectancy to near 300, and eventually to our peak of near 700..

With this technology we can grow plastic androids almost like we grow babies... and people will be so into screwing their toys, that it should give Life a chance to quell and phase-out the present rampant STD plagues... And while they're doing all their mating with robots, the human population will decline, to a quantity that the planet can support.. then maybe there will be some planet left for our children's children....

We can grow our PC's, from these new plastics, stuck to our fore-arms as skin grafts, which feed off of inerts introduced into the blood... PC's that grow their own softwares on-demand...

Opening the bonds of the inert elements gives us about 80 new base and acid chemical compounds, to mix and react with the ten million plus we already have...

For us to discover this new technology, I need a small lab, state of the art laser lab and lapidary lab... The rest is easy...

Light can be made to release its electricity... Essentially "electricity" is "Light's chemistry"... Fragmented light "particles" instantly decay into liquid electricity.. which evaporates extremely violently in a matter atmosphere... thus thrust for flying cars, and moon capable RV's, and no more burning gas... The air pollution levels drop.. The air gets to smell better.. And we are having lots of fun driving around in the air...

Thing is.. we are going extinct very fast... We might as well have some fun, while on our great slide toward absolute oblivion...

The only dangerous thing about it all, is that mankind is using up the planet faster than it can repair and restore... which means that one day this planet will simply run out of life at this rate of our mindless destruction to Life on this planet... Essentially what I have in mind, is a partial-cure to our global mess...

I know it's difficult to accept any New.. when our Culture conditions us to fear everything that threatens to bring change and new... We fight to remain as we are, because this way we don't need to process anymore difficult thinking... We are like clams, stuck to the rocks for the duration... We've found our cozy spot, and we ain't gonna change nor move for anybody, nor anything...

I see all the technologies that bridge bio-tissues with synthetics...

I doubt I could put it any simpler... We just don't have the words yet... which is why I'm writing a dictionary...

This stuff is so confusing for the norm to try to even begin to grasp, that a nuke physicist I chatted with, couldn't grasp the first 60-seconds of the description of how the liquid electricity rocket worked... A minute into the description, his chin dropped, his face turned pale, he struggled to speak, accused me of "speaking/talking in the forth dimension", barely managed to stand, barely managed to walk three paces, and fell flat on his face...

For me to get financed, the scientific community, and the money world, demands "full-disclosure"... There is No-way I'm gonna give them Any disclosure!.. They would just run with it, like pirates, and leave me in the dust, like humanity has done with everything new I've disclosed... It's either, I win a lotto, or this human race finds me a small lab, a credit card, and a genius corporate team.. or they do without all this lovely new technology.. and the only way you'all is gonna be seeing your lovely "flying cars", is if'n you drive your gas guzzlers off a cliff... end of story...

Maybe you just haven't noticed the obvious signs...

Most of us are just too busy, and too bust, to think of anything but work, fun, survival, and what's on tv and in our PC's... We fail to look at the big picture.. because this culture's educational systems conditions us to see only little pictures, because religion doesn't want us to see the big picture, because that would mean we would see that religion is a great scam, and religion fears that if humanity wakes up to some reality, that religion won't exist in the future.., so the general attitude is "everything is ok.. and if it's not, then god, science, and democracy, will fix it for us"... With our minds switched off, we can't think... The Media provides us with our new thoughts, and our new fears, daily... We have fallen into "media dependency"... Most humes haven't had a single original-thought on their own in their whole lifetimes, and these days it's just getting worse...

A couple of points that prove me right...
Have you heard news about the huge "black rivers", in the Arctic, which scientists found flowing under Arctic ice..?
That's "lampblack", better known as the exhaust from diesel engines...
That black powder is settling on the Arctic ice, and holding in the sun's heat, and transferring the heat to the ice, which is why the Arctic is melting so hard and fast...

The planet's weather depends on the cold breezes which originate from the air currents which flow over that Arctic ice... When the poles are melted, the planet's weather stalls... Where there's no rain, the planet transforms into dessert... Not in our lifetimes, but soon...

If America's war goes nuclear, the toxic dust clouds will fall all over the planet for a couple years, irradiating the fragile pollinator's eggs to death.. thereby extincting our planet's pollinators... A few years after that, most of us run out of food.. and a few years after that the fields and forests start dying... and a great chain reaction of extinction begins, as all Life self-destructs...

Have you ever noticed that the nuclear capable third world nations don't have a nuclear waste disposal problem?..
Simple!.. They have been dumping all their extreme toxins in the Pacific, just below Japan, in the shipping lanes, into currents which bathe the western shores of the Americas.. as in, "out of sight/out of mind"...
Their five huge waste-dump strips are heating up the sea bottom currents, creating "El Nino"... When those Huge crude nuclear masses go nuclear critical, it will splash those extreme toxins all over the Pacific, and we will have literally killed an ocean, and its shorelines... And the disaster will spread to the other oceans like a great cancer... Essentially we are history.. We had it all, and we blew it...

I could repair most of the damage we've done to this planet, if I had use of a lab... I see the technologies to vacuum nuclear particles from nuclear waste.. but to build the alpha sampler circuit, I need to first build the liquid electricity emitter to create the required chemistry... And I don't see a lab in my immediate future... Seems I am being forced to take all this technology to the grave, because mankind is mindless... It's everyones loss...

I see how to create weather controls, but it needs the cold Arctic air to work... And the Arctic will be dry in 350-years.. and dotted with cottages, resorts, and thousands of no-trespassing signs... And humes will be dumping their sewage and garbage all over and around the Arctic, and pumping boat exhausts into the waters... If we kill the krill, we have killed all sea life... And the weird thing of it all, is we are doing it all just for more and more lovely money...

Money doesn't have a definition of Life in its equation... Money is spending life faster than the planet can repair and restore...
These days with money controlling all Life, just one man with a 100-billion dollars could pay poor humans to sell him literally All the animal's skins on this planet in just a couple years... So what about the thousands of humes who are paying the poor to kill endangered animals for them, today..? And then there's the Oriental folk medicine industry... In Canada, for the past 20-years forest rangers have been finding the corpses of huge grizzlies, and various other wild critters, with just the oriental folk medicine body parts missing... China depleted its own wildlife for useless fantasy medicines... Every day there is less and less life on this planet... Eventually this planet will simply run out of life because of our careless mindless use of the planet... Humanity has become the great cancer to all Life on this planet...

All I'm trying to do is wake people up a little to opening their minds to a little reality, but this culture has been conditioned to fear the mind, and fear everything too new to grasp... All I get from this project is insults, and people trying to damage my life and my PC's... I've found that most people believe my claims of new sciences, is "blasphemy"... I can't get a single word in through humanity's insanity walls of fear... My trying to teach humans how to switch on their minds, and use them, feels like me trying to teach chimps rocket and computer technology... I wasted my whole life acquiring all this technology, cuz I am not permitted to do anything with it... Every time I had done all the work to establish the funding to build my lab, some nutcase christian politician would come crawl from under his rock, notice the profit potential of my fragile project, and "rip out the rug", and run with his ill gotten booty, backed by an insane legal system, thugs, and more money than I've got... I fear that humanity will one day wake up, only after the discomfort levels have become too great to ignore and numb-out.. Humanity doesn't see any of this... Our perpetual evolutions of designer drugs numbs us to the truth... One day we will eventually notice that we've actually killed a planet.. but too late to do anything about it... I think that many people dont want to know...it frightens them so badly.A lot are in denial...and some people know about Nicolai Tesla and others like him and what was done to them.....I think there is an active sense of despair that lives in the psyche of most thinking humans that disables many as well.
But its great to see there are people out there like you.....by the way I read a piece by you in another thread where you said you were able to help people achieve success but not your self....well,that would be in your astrology chart...maybe a preponderance of southern hemisphere planets....or a hard aspect between the fourth and tenth houses.sorry to mention it here but I couldnt find the other thread.

Ouch!!... that hits a big knot in me, which glows and burns and stings big inside... It's something that's really been bugging me bigtime.. why I can get myself into gear... I've got at least a thousand trillion dollars in new technologies and inventions, but I can't even afford to fill my truck's gastank, nor get my achy teeth fixed... I'm stuck in survival mode, and just can't find a way out of this hell.. You've hit the nail right on the head with that one.. and it runs a lot deeper than just "despair"... Actually it's Religion's conditioning, which applies a ceiling to thought processing... In that, the conditioned person is allowed to process only up to 7% mind usage... Processing illegal-thinking beyond the 7%, into 8% mind usage, causes the conditioning to restrict cerebral nerve plumbing, which results in an extreme migraine, which painkillers can't numb-out, unless one takes enough drugs to knock them out into sleep.. but they wake with the headache still there... The only ways to totally eliminate a religious conditioning migraine, is to either immediately start preaching about dogmatic icon.. Or to apply some extreme blasphemy to the inner self, which if great enough, will cause the conditioning to self-destruct, and to try to kill the thinker as well... You know you've triggered the conditioning's self destruct mode when you sense a couple of extremely painful crackles in your brain's right-hemi, top center, in the brain's creative center.. when the conditioning's connections to the brain literally burn-up... Hurts like hell!.. I'm sure a medical scanner would record a flash of electronic-fire in that part of the brain, at that moment...
The moment one feels those stings, the thinker merely cuts power to the thinking process, and the conditioning self-destructs on its own, safely... If one doesn't cut power to thinking process, then, it's very likely the conditioning would suicide the person too... Then one ingests a barrage of vitamins and nutrient supplements, and amino acids complex, and applies various self healing processes to the self... and suddenly you are flooded with billions of new thoughts, from having freed yourself from Slavery, "original sin".. in having joined the ranks of humankind...

That conditioning was created to prevent followers from ever thinking beyond what religion wants them to know.. Essentially a "mental prison"... created and implemented to defend and maintain tithing practices, by preventing faithful followers from discovering that their religion is actually just an evil money sucking scam...
Now days, Religion has humanity anchored to history with that vile evil conditioning...

I suppose one would develop despair from suffering the migraines, from every time they try to process illegal-thought out of the box... And TV forces people think out of the box.. so "migraines" is a big problem these days, and is getting worse as technology advances.. because illegal thinkers are desperately trying to grasp the new, while the old is desperately trying to stop them from thinking...
It all falls into that category, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop" adage.. which is really only Religion stifling science and humanity, to maintain and defend their free-ride...

I think I understand what the professor in the article is in strife about but let me just say that it is my opinion that something like this or the concept there of, has been an active project within the last 40 years.
This to me, like all things, it can't be legal unless it's marketable. Hell, if they could make cocaine less damaging to the nueral and cardiac system, and they could market it as some form of sexual stimulant, extreme weight loss while eating the foods you like, it'd be legal.
In that respect, despite the matter of spirituality going out the window, only higher economic classed people would be augmented or lucrative sociopaths as an investment for when they're on the lam.

What I don't get...what really makes no sense at all...if you're going to burn everything anyway if you don't get your way...where's the harm in taking some of it (at least) and turning it over to anybody that might be able to make it go? The defeats attached themselves to me... and I haven't been able to defeat them...

I ain't talking about "hero traps" my friend... though I can see how it could be viewed such... All the hero stuff is just superficial bullshit...

Every single thing I did to try to get me on-board, and this project going.. someone bigger a stronger than me would come out of no-where and Slap me down swift and hard... Every time I got on my feet, I'd get slapped down hard... I mean Every Single Time... It felt like the whole human race was fighting me to be silent... and when my noise got a little too loud, I'd be ducking and dodging bullets and blades again, or trying to heal from being poisoned again.. and I'd be evicted and/or fired out of the blue.. and/or there was that next professional-thief trying desperately to rob my life's work tools again, so I wouldn't have an income... I must have moved residence thirty times.. being evicted for no apparent reason... and I'd be back to square one again, just after I got things setup.. and out I'd be on my ass again.. loading my tools and stuff into a mini storage again, and trying to find a place as cheap as I could afford... And I'd just get comfy, with my tools and possessions almost safe, and barely enough furniture.. and things just barely out of their boxes, and on shelves, and started writing again, and BANG!, I'd be fired and/or evicted again for no apparent reasons.. and tossed again back to square-one again. back out into the street.. sleeping in my car again... And I'd feel the depression, and shake it off, and roll with it.. and get started again.. like the boxer who keeps getting up, even after the 30th bell...

Well.. There ain't gonna be any more battles nor bells... You win mankind.. You beat me down, and down, and down.. so far that it's not that I don't want to get up.. it's that I can't get out of the hole you buried me alive in... Most of us are just too busy, and too bust, to think of anything but work, fun, survival, and what's on tv and in our PC's... EXTREME CAUTION must be employed, in "cutting your silver cord"...
