Just a bit of fun:

Before history was written down by people contemporary to the events they were recording, history and myth were tangled together. As a result real people would be transformed by folklore to become epic heroes, demigods and even deities centuries later.

Imagine that our present civilisation suddenly disappeared in some global catastrophe, our technology along with it, so that we were forced again to transmit history orally. Which historical figures would be remembered centuries later, and what characters from popular culture would become deities or demons?

How would it affect occult symbolism? For example, would some arcane power be associated with the MacDonald 'M'?

future archeologists would certainly wonder: "what was the purpose of the neck-tie?"

does it count as a sycronicity if i was watching a movie about author at the same time as i opened this thread to read? i own a very huge/good book on arthurian mythos...

i would think that they would piece together our history quite piecemeal and find ...well quite possibly get everything wrong..i recommend you all read a good short little book called "the we-ans" its a great parody on archeology and how possibly we really did'nt get it all too right in the first place.

i wouldnt be too suprised if our empire falls sometime in the next hundred years or so though. at least i am praying for some sort of paradigmal shift of some sort.

The Bush epic will become known as the work of the *Bushaka* spawned in the bowels of hell that rises from lies and deception to destroy whole nations from within. It will be finally observed to have actually been a particular class of demon who...like certain parasitic insects of the Amazon...bores holes in the brains of its victims only to use them as hosts for its own prolific reproduction...

finally defeated but not before taking down millions of innocent human lives...

David MacCauley's "Motel of the Mysteries" (http://www.powells.com/biblio/1-0395284252-2) kind of addresses this topic

Great fun.

as regarding the mysterious *golden arches*...future archeologists will find ample evidence to show that this was a religious death-cult that sprung up nearly overnight in the late 20th century linked to Metatron a very high-ranking angel with the power to hypnotize his enemies through his *dance of confusion*...

It rivaled Christianity itself and spread rapidly throughout all parts of the world and involved copious amounts of animal sacrifice combined with the peculiar custom of consuming plastics and other synthetic substances fashioned to look like food. The cult ultimately succumbed to a number of pandemics involving liver failure and diabetes and assorted other critical health catastrophes on a global scale.

At its height it boasted a loyal following numbering in the tens of millions and appears to have been overseen by priests robed in elaborate attire with flaming red hair and oversized noses designed to frighten evil spirits. Followers would line up for miles to pass through the *golden arches* and receive a blessing by the priests, followed by ecstatic gorging which was eventually the undoing of this astonishing cult...

future archeologists would certainly wonder: "what was the purpose of the neck-tie?"

I am given to understand that the necktie is an initiation symbol. Patrick Conty has a method of converting labyrinth patterns into different knots, and it would seem that the necktie knot is analogous to the 7 circuit cretan labyrinth.
