View Full Version : A strange effect of Astral Projection

I would like to post this question here for everyone to see and share their opinions..
As I have posted elsewhere, I have been practicing meditation for about 5 months now and only recently have I achieved a situation like the one we name Astral Projection. Since this happened I have been witnessing a strange phoenomenon, without any notification a strong smell of incence hits my nostrils and sometimes its so strong that wakes me up when sleeping. There are times when instead of the smell of the incence I smell something like rosemary or parsley...Has this ever happened to you???
I mostly smell like shit both in the physical and the astral. The stench is so bad that it makes it's whole own atmosphere lol. Must have some serious issues to work through rofl.
Anyway, someone said that the smell/scent are because of guides trying to contact or some other thing. It might also be interesting to use the astral-scent sense to smell on the different writings of different religious Scriptures etc. Usually there is a rosary scent added to them to make the concept sell :D
Urgh,... PRobably some Spirit going to hang my balls for writing this...
I have a really bad relationship with smell in general, so it is naturally possibly the weakest of my senses both in daily life and esoteric workings...I have not experienced anything similar although I have previously heard what Amur also states.
It is said that all 5 senses have their subtler equivalents. I have always been best at subtle touch and vision, although those are primary senses for me in a purely physical context as well. My point being that people are different, and that it is equally possible that you are simply perceiving the subtle equivalent of a sense you have a good/intimate relationship and understanding with. I say run with it, see where it leads. And if your meditative session eventually finds itself mainly driven by scent, hey, why not?

There interesting part is that I smell as bad as the place on Earth itself. As I register every energetic bit transfer going on and when having no outlets it gathers up quite the smell lol. Feel like No Face (http://www.pulpfilm.com/anime/senimages/large10.jpg) from Spirited Away, prior to His Bath.
You might also want to use hearing and perhaps try out a whole new sense which doesn't exist in the physical body.

Smell is probably the strongest sense in the entire animal kingdom. It is only very lost on humans but it's still in there affecting everything we do. There is not a lot committed to writing about the role of smell in higher energy workings but it's a powerful sense that links to instinctive knowledge of ourselves and our surroundings. Metaphorically we often use smell as a way of alluding to precognition. We talk of a situation smelling bad or another smelling right. People talk about the smell of success or the smell of failure but more significantly the smell of truth or lies, or many things unseen or unheard, indicating smell as a sense of knowing without knowing...
So I wouldn't discount the possibility that there is something very significant occuring in relation to this smell. I have no idea what it is exactly...smells very auspicious to me...

i have a very strong sense of smell, but more to the point, from my experience, i'd think of this the same way as we do in magickal correspondences. certain smells are associated with certain concepts, spirits, planets etc. I would take this repeating smell as a sign that something is trying to contact me, or there is something i need to look into more deeply.
check the correspondences for those smells (777 or some such tome). then try to work with the planet/spirit/sephira associated. if it is a 'spirit' make sure you test it.
oh, and bone up on banishings...

Smell also has very powerful links to memory which is the same area of the brain many spiritual visions and phenomena are thought to occur...though I would have to research this a bit more to be more specific...just things I have picked up on in passing etc...
Memories, as we know, can be faked by the brain itself in certain cases like if you had 6 different puzzles all cut the same way it would be possible to combine them in ways that seemed to fit but would still be faulty assemblages...
So the link to memory is an interesting thing to watch out for. On the one hand it might really be a memory association of some kind...might even be a "higher memory"...but it might also be an illusion...
I would certainly agree with good ground controls when heading out in this direction...

Smell also has very powerful links to memory
This is very interesting M1thr0s, you see for the last 3 days I have been trying to reach out and find the part of my memory where I have found this smell before...Last night I realised I have encountered the same smell somewhere in the past but I just can't find where...If it comes to any progress I will let you know...
The point I can get is "why" smell, you see smell is a strong sence of mine and in many cases I have found that people I dislike smell awfully to me, bodily I mean, and vice versa...
The thing I dont get is why does thid happen. I mean why has this occured now and why concearning a scent of the past???
PS: Amur what do you mean you smell bad? Bodily or in another way?
The thing I dont get is why does thid happen. I mean why has this occured now and why concearning a scent of the past???Well, it certainly signifies a sensory connection of sorts, I think we can be sure of that. The mind usually functions as a connection maker concerning the faculty of perception, and that is why it is often so important to consciously train it and have it make and register the most efficient correlations and automatic reactions possible. Since you function extensively with the sense of smell, I guess what can be practically gleaned from this experience is that you have at some level of consciousness *attributed* this particular scent with certain characteristics. Since the mental connection naturally goes both ways, the subtle nervous system is trained so that when those characteristics are met the scent is met as well, and vice versa. This is the way trained-in reactions and experience works in general, and it is an integral part of the overall function of ourselves.

The thing I dont get is why does thid happen. I mean why has this occured now and why concearning a scent of the past???why indeed...it would appear to be a mystery that needs attending to. you know, I think that if I were you, I might want to find a really good herbal shop or something and methodically pin the smell down to its source...assuming it is an earthly smell...also assuming it is organic. But it might really help just knowing what the smell actually is...
There is also the first three years of life to consider...before learned speech started modifying memory itself. I have been told stories of people being taken back to very early childhood memories via smell therapy. just because you can't talk doesn't mean you can't smell and also process information about your environment...
One way or another it's an intriguing mystery...something is vying for your attention for some unknown reason.

If you got a partner, you might like to smell how she smells.

What a fascinating phenomenon you are experiencing, Seipiriz. I have read plenty of cases in which people experience phantom scents in conjunction with ghosts. Perhaps like clairaudience, which is where your brain registers sound, music, and words without them entering physically through the ear, spirit scent is a form of spirit communication.
When I have been meditating a lot and looking for spirit world interaction, I am often awakened by a sound such as clicking, or electronic beeping, usually around 3:00 a.m. (give or take). I have come to think of it as a message from those in the spirit world trying to assist me by awakening me at a ripe time for interaction. I don't know the specifics of the science behind it (brainwaves, such as delta, etc.), but I do know that my brain is ripe at this hour in the night in a very nice balance between sleep and wake. This is when I receive (and remember!) amazing visions, messages, and chances to make conscious astral projection exits (which I have not yet done successfully). But I do believe the sound (perhaps it is scent in your case) is the trigger to wake me up, or at other times to make me aware of a presence without alarming me.

Yesterday night when meditating I tried to think what this could be , after an hour or so I was really focused and had stopped thinking about the thing at all, it was then that I realised what the whole thing is about... The answer came to me as if my mind was doing its research by itself without me giving instructions and guidance. When I was a youg child I had to stay for a year with my grandmother as my parents were away doing their master degrees... My grandmother was a simple person who was caring and loving and she was truely a person of the land . She wpuld wake up early in the morning and gather herbs (welived in the countryside) and then do her daily tasks of the householding... Above my bed she used to hang a little bunch of rosemary as she said that the smell of rosemary helps the babies get a good night's sleep ...
Now I am opositively sure that the scent that comes to me is the same smell my bed as an 8 year old boy used to smell ...The reason why this comes to me now is still something I cannot understand...
