This is a page from my magickal journal which I have been using quite a bit after having an anxiety attack not too long ago. It's a simple thing, but sometimes simple is the best bet.

Stress is often debilitating, and causes mental blocks, emotional buildup, physical tension etc. Calmness allows one to breath in all aspects of person hood. Memory improves, dreams become clearer,
the effects the world have on you are easier to manage and appreciate, problem solving improves, creativity improves, and it's all around necessary for spiritual and magickal workings.

Calmness is not entirely intuitive. It is a skill to develop, and with practice it becomes easier. It is our responsibility to learn to manage one's stress in order to develop, and the benefits will carry you well regardless of where you are as a person.

I have decided to charge a stone, in this case a fluorite (for personal and aesthetic reasons) to carry out my will. I held it in my hand while relaxing and concentrating on mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual calmness, and let the flow do the work. I allowed myself to visualize that which soothes me, chirping crickets, the breeze through the tops of trees, flowing
rivers etc.

So now, this fluorite serves as a visual reminder of the benefits of continual calmness, it's presence in a room can trigger that subconsciously, and it has the energy of my intentions flowing through it. There is a New Age belief that stones represent certain things like love, clarity, physical health etc. Personally I don't think this is true. I think we place our own meaning and intent into the stone, or any object to get results. In this case the focal point is a pretty stone with colours I associate with deep seated calmness.

PS-Not only does fluorite have beautiful colours, if you look inside, it appears to contain galaxies. :) The picture above doesn't do that justice.

This image is a little better.

Even though I don't believe a crystal has inherent powers, it's interesting to read this:

"Crystal healers consider Fluorite one of Nature’s most powerful mental healers. Those who have experienced the power of Fluorite have labeled it the Genius Stone. To them it has the ability to influence the activities that occur on the mental plane of consciousness and amplifies, focuses, expands and creates new pathways for the mind."

Radiant! Beautiful greens, and the cool drops of water. When I was meditating with the stone, much of the calming imagery and sounds had to do with water: babbling brooks, small rivers, rain.

Also there is that fresh Earth smell after a storm when the air is crisp and moist. That picture makes me smell it!

A paper bag also works.

The exercise is not meant to deal with the anxiety attack itself, but rather the tension and stress that triggered it in the first place. Even if I wasn't prone to anxiety attacks and mania, I cant help but see this kind of exercise as beneficial regardless. I find it better to work magick in that calm flowing space where you can feel it work.

I was being cheeky.

On a more serious note, I got rid of anxiety by confronting it head on. The causes of anxiety are ultimately psychological, not environmental.

Cheeky monkeys get spanked. :P

I think it's really a combination of environment and what's in your head. Confronting it is the best way to deal with it, however sometimes I find I can't see the cause because of the tension. It's easier to deal with my internal problems when I'm calm. Otherwise I'm stiff, and there is all this emotional and mental buildup that makes things hard to see.

The fact that that particular product is no longer available gave me an anxiety attack....

Anxiety issues were environmental for me...more specifically dietary. I used to get anywhere from 4-10ish anxiety attacks a day. It sucked. I learned to function around them.

I cut casein completely out of my diet and I've had 2 anxiety attacks in the last 18 months...both of which were based on circumstances.

So much hinges on nutrition vs. autotoxification...

It astounds me how often the human animal,
despite being hard-wired for survival,
routinely self-destructs in slow-motion...

Usually in unconscious self-denial... :(

I'ts crazy how diet effects us. I found that when I'm having a case of depression, mussles stabilize my mood. There are people dismissing the idea that food can act as anti-depressents. Really? Why wouldn't it? Food effects our whole body. The mind its part of out body. Easy? Perhaps the idea that we can be so influenced by what we eat makes some people feel like they have less control. I know some people freak at the idea that being animals, it makes them feel less special as people. Don't understand why.

Here's a scan of three pieces of fluorite I have including an Octahedron:

I think crystals are the same as the so called "Placebo Affect", whatever works - works! No nasty side affects However, for 'big Pharma', the Placebo Affect is like ignoring the elephant in the room. They regard the Placebo Affect as a nasty side affect to making squillions.

Good point, wiz-oz. Placebos work! I mean, why deprive the mind of the trick that it's getting better when the trick leads to it actually getting better? It works the other way around, too. If you think as if your sick, you'll get sick. Psychosomatic episodes lead to a lowered immune system, in my experience.
