This is just one of the most condensed, yet simple, articles on the properties of Prana I have ever seen in print, so I want to log it here in case no one has run across it yet...there is a lot going on with this and it sort of outlines a principle overview of yogic theory and practise in a surprisingly concise package...
The Secret of Prana (http://www.dharmacentral.com/articles/prana.htm)
I ran into it researching Udana Vayu (upward wind) which is discussed towards the end of the article. The Udana Vayu has been referred to in some alchemical texts as the "levity energy" principle in nature, although strictly speaking this is a parallel and not the same thing exactly.

In one state I did experience how the prana came into the meridians through breathing. Got quite surprised that it actually had something to do with the breath. Though my highly sceptive mind says that it might have been placebo, but still there was this subtle fullfillment in the place the prana came into with the breathe.
Franz Bardon had a breathing technique where one breathes from all directions into every cell of the body with new fresh energy and then out with the used energy. Imo it's a highly efficient technique.
Pranayama alone is already efficient in healing the mind / body mechanism from it's troubles. It is also easy to shift through Ida and Pingala nadis with mere breathing. I recommend a healing pranayama with alternating nostril breathe. Where you breath in from the left side and out into the right side of the body. Then again in from the right side of the body out into the left side of the body. Keep doing this until something happens. :tlaugh:
Through all the nightmarish experiences I have always had my breath. It's quite vital to remember when going through alot.
There is an excellent book (http://www.amazon.com/dp/8185787840?tag=abrahadabraco-20&camp=0&creative=0&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=8185787840&adid=0FGH627J9GE3AW2Z4NQM&) on Prana and Pranayama by Bihar school of yoga. It goes through all the stages of the breath and has a quite explicit repertoire regarding the different pranas in the body. Thank you very much for the article. You gave me the key to unlocking the imbalance in the body of light. It's very much messed up with clogged pranas here and there, which in turn causes this whole insanity process. Apparently with breathing alone it can become balanced and fixed. So I'm very thankful

ah yes...that is a very good book. sometimes the more simplified information gets through the best...
I must remember that in my own future endeavors...
Apparently with breathing alone it can become balanced and fixed. So I'm very thankful :thumbsup:bah...thy wit has made thee whole...glad to be of any service though...
It's a shame that there does not appear to be a comprehensive (ie, complete) copy of the Book of Breathings, purported to have been written by Thoth instructing men on how to become gods etc...I have looked all over the place but it appears that all we actually have is broken fragments which are in themselves no more than shadows of the original...
We do at least have some idea what such a book would have necessarily been comprised of though...if it would have been anything actually useful to human beings...for this we have the writings on pranayama to thank...

Incredible article m1thr0s, thanks for sharing that! I have actually been doing some research on the Vayus myself this week, so you've made a wonderful addition to it
