Ah, finally a spare moment - so here goes.
Like many of you I stumbled on this place quite by accident and, though the particulars escape me atm, I'm sure it was really a funny serious of events which led me here. That said, I couldn't be happier to have found the Abrahadabra forums. As I said in my blurb when seeking membership here: one of the things I sorely lack in my practice and pursuit is the companionship of kindred spirits - with a number like 9 I'm quite the (mental) recluse and so my ideas don't get out much - so really I'm looking for some buds. :)
A bit about me: Academically, I'm a 5th year senior of cultural and psychological anthropology currently in my final semester of study. Religiously, I considered myself a buddhist for quite some time, perhaps I still am, so Eastern philosophy plays into my belief system a great deal. While I've only recently become entangled in the Western esoteric traditions, I can tell it will be a long affair. My primary interests at the present are numerology, which I think is fantastic, myths, and magick - though I confess I know very little pertaining to the latter. Alchemy, insofar as I have read here and elsewhere, is also especially interesting and - as I'm sure many of you have already noted - has striking similarities to certain Eastern practices, this is especially the case for internal alchemy - but then, there is much overlap between eastern & western esoterica.
In addition to numerology, myths, and magick, I'm also quite intrigued by the ideas of Jung and I hope I won't play out like a cliche if I say that I found his septem sermones ad mortuos sublime. Among his other works I enjoyed 'Man and His Symbols' which I saw one of you had recently started re-reading. I'm also fond of Latin and, as are many of you here, German deswegen studiere ich deutsch als nebenfach bei der uni.
So, just like any individual my interests are wide and varied, east and west, sun and the moon. It's a real treat to be here and I sincerely hope to get to know all of you better, to become more familiar with the intricacies of magick, to say what little I can, and to learn from each of you about the innumerable things I've never heard of.
Kindest regards and thank you for your patience regarding my introductory novel,
C.
