Greetings,

A few years ago I stepped away from internet forums to focus on my path in isolation, I realized I had been spending too much time theorizing and not enough practicing. After spending countless hours debating the nature of Magic and Spirituality, it became lucidly clear that there is only so much you can learn from books and discussion without putting the principles in practice. Setting my books aside for some time and shutting down my computer to focus on practicing all that I had learned was the difference between epistime based on knowledge through set paradigms and assumptions and gnosis as union with the object of knowledge. Needless to say it was a Mind opening experience that shattered many of my preconceived notions regarding the Art and the principles under which it operates.

Anyway, a little more than a month ago I returned to the world of internet forums. For the most part I have been heavily disappointed with my return, seeing most forums filled with posts regarding mundane topics of sentimental experiences and fantasy driven subconscious delusions instead of a drive for understanding the transcendent principles of the Art.

I happened to stumble upon Abrahadabra Forums by chance. Thus far, I have seen a much deeper appreciation and understanding of esoterica in these pages than I have found elsewhere and I look forward to participating in your discussions.

As for my own path, I am a practicing theurgist and spiritual alchemist. My blend of practice is heavily influenced by Western traditions (Pythagorean Mysteries, Kabbalah,Hermeticism, and GD/Crowley practices) though I highly appreciate and have dabbled in the Eastern counterparts . I invite any of you who wish to know about my own practice to visit my blog Reflections from the Black Stone (http://cdcruz.wordpress.com/), it is still in its nascent stages, but it will hopefully give you an idea of my stance in regards to Magic, Philosophy, and Spiritual development.

Generally speaking, I am a traditionalist through and through, seeing in all religions and cosmologies a common thread pertaining to primordial Principles. Regardless of the individual mytho-histories of different religions or belief systems, in my mind they are all paths that lead the same Unity of One.

I know there are many amongst you who share this Mind, and I look forward to our crossing paths.

Thank you for having me.

:)Hey Poimandres! WELCOME TO THE AF! I also stumbled (or perhaps I was tripped) upon this forum while "googling", but "chance" is not necessarily a given in a world that offers explanations grudgingly. Ha! MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME! AV.

Welcome to the forums.

On an unrelated note, I believe the correct declensions would be "sapiens dominatur astris" (the wise man rules the heavens) or perhaps "sapiens dominatus est astrorum" (the wise man is ruler of the heavens) or maybe even "sapiens astris dominor" (I, the wise man, rule the heavens). Regardless, the word "sapien"is not real latin and the word "dominator" is a noun and not the appropriate word for this sentence.

touche...indeed "chance" may not have had anything to do with it.

Wow...I feel so embarrassed. You are completely right, the proverb is "sapiens dominatur astris".

This place is awesome. Where else in the occult forum world do members casually correct Latin grammar?

Welcome.
