View Full Version : A Glossary of Terms?

As I read through the posts on Abrahadabra and M.A. I find the posts may be well served by a central glossary of specific terms related to it (like Twin Star). Perhaps there is one and my search was incomplete in which please delete this post haste. However, if there is not one perhaps those in the know might add a term or two when the have "free" time? The interlinks to other threads are great but a glossary would also be a good exercise to developing the ideas as clearly as possible.
Peace out! Meeeehhhhhhhhh (said in goatly glee)

A Glossary of Terms is a great idea Nuhad418, although "free time", these days, is a bit of an oxymoron...
Still I think something could be started at least and added onto periodically...I'll try to get the first bits put together sometime later today...

I know of at least two members that would be grateful for this.
Sounds like you know what a few of these terms mean Nuhad, hint hint ;)

I'd also vote for a version of the goat's thelema glossary down in the magick forum......

Did any of this ever happen?
If so where, and if not then why not?
well here's the scoop
Anyone who has actually attempted to pour over my posts has probably already realized that I bounce around between a lot of terms you may have a very difficult time tracking down via Google. Believe it or not, there really is a powerful thread of continuity running through all of this, but in order to understand what that is, you have to first understand what it is that I do best and where the vast majority of my personal emphasis has been placed throughout my own esoteric practise. Rather than just lay out a "glossary of terms" as was suggested by one member, I am going to try to initiate this ground-up discussion and stop at intervals to clarify those terms I am introducing for the first time.

I recalled this just as I posted: http://forums.abrahadabra.com/showthread.php?t=582

well we're just all over the place arn't we? :D
That glossary doesn't have much except Thelemic trash though it has nothing to do with Mutational Alchemy.

maybe that's why it's called:
Thelema Glossary Index
...and I don't regard it as trash personally. It took hard work to put it together and it's a very decent glossary. I just haven't done the same thing with Mutational Alchemy. I think NuHad418 might have been hoping to encourage me to do so by his example, and it is a good idea...I just haven't done this yet for a number of reasons...not the least of which being that simple definitions don't always really explain things. A term like Trigrammaton for instance, defined in a only a sentence or two would not really define the term at all.
Even so, it is still a good idea I think.

No I wasn't speaking to you either m1thr0s but I don't like Thelema so my opinions of it have been somewhat cemented since before ever spoke. I don't think what I said can be taken out of context after all they are my opinions.

oh yeah...I always assume people's expressed opinions are their own. Regardless of who one may or may not be addressing, blanket statements in a forum setting pretty much belong to everybody...
otherwise it would just be a chatroom/channel...whatever...

Well it wasn't about the list itself it was a statement about Thelema itself, I've studied in the shadow of this crap for years and I'm tired of it, no offense to Nuhad I'm sure - not that he ever shows around here anymore...
I realize you, like perhaps 80% of this forum body has a connection to Thelema, while I have absolutely none, it's infested my life on its own and I've taken a strong dislike to Crowley within the past six months which is a trend with me and anything from that particular era - strong like followed by dislike...I don't know.
But yeah I just wanted to clarify I'm not trying to accuse anyone I just have strong opinions on the subject entirely and I won't compromise unless I'm shown reasonable proof of non-entropy. Were in in the same position I was 5 years ago or 7 months ago trying to research everything on Crowley, Thelema and related topics, I would surely find such a list useful but not now and when I have an opinion, you sure as hell are going to hear it....claws, teeth, etc...

personally, I don't see any problem with starting a *The Problem with Thelema* thread...particularly since I have my own misgivings about all of this...
I just don't think that discussion is a good fit in this immediate thread...you can dislike a thing on one or more levels and still appreciate its value on others I think.
