Garlic and Honey!
I know most people have heard it before, but I thought I would start a thread on it anyway. If it is not used, it can die a desirable death.
I learned a long time ago from my Elder that daily intake of garlic and honey does many wonderful things for your body. I will post some recipes later and the benefits of each.
However, they are a boost to your immune system, great for your diet, have many healing properties (garlic works well in some situations as an antibiotic and honey works miracles on cuts....it must be raw honey however).
I eat 2 cloves a day and a tablespoon of honey as well.

I haven't tried honey for anything, but garlic should be a staple in the quest for and maintenance of health. I do like pure maple syrup, and in fact am considering a cleanse that involves its use. Ordinarily I use it on pancakes, on oatmeal or along with heated Grape Nuts with blueberries - one of my favorite cold-weather breakfasts.

I have used home remedies all my life. In my mind I have been able to cure whatever ails, well....except cancer. They would name a library or road or something after me if I could cure that.
I am nit sure exactly what the rules of this forum are for posting home remedies and holistic cures and such. I will have to check with the boss man before I post actually recipes for cough medicine and other things.
I will get back to it in a few days.

oh well...I don't know...I get so sick of bending over backwards to accommodate the whole paranoia machine...maybe some little disclaimer saying that these are just what they appear to be..."home remedies" with no scientific guarantees etc...
If we get enough of these going on it would warrant a forum of its own perhaps in which case we could just create a generic stickie-disclaimer and be done with it...
we're mostly all adults here anyway...

Stops cough and eases throat pain:
In a glass or stainless steel pot mix:
16 oz Lemon Juice
2 tablespoons thyme
1 teaspoon danelion root
1 tablespoon horehound root
1 teaspoon wild cherry
Bring to a boil then let steep for 20 minutes
strain into a heat resistant container
ADD:
4 tablespoons of raw honey
4 tablespoons of liquor (I prefer Cpt. Morgans Spiced Rum)
Mix well
This can be taken daily by the teaspoon as needed for a cough. If keeping for a long period of time, place it in an airtight container in the fridge.
Prior to steeping I often add licorice root, boneset, bee balm and a good handful of mint and some garlic. I have made it without these indredients, but it seems to work better for me with those things added.
You can take one tablespon prior to bed if coughing is keeping you awake. In addition, a few tablespoons are good at night for an all around let me rest medicine. If used to soothe a sore throat, you can increase the honey and let it cool in the fridge. It will thicken a little and coats the throat better.
