Words from another magician I heard about seven years ago, after I told him of a new comrade I had just met, who had appeared in my dream space.
Dreams are an important aspect of pathworking for many, if not all people, usually more important to those who seem to see the world in a dreamlike manner in the waking world.
So, a few days ago, I had a night dream.
In it I was in a parking lot. In this parking lot was a man and a woman I know. They gestured at me to follow them. I felt as if it may be something of importance.
We walked inside the building the parking lot was for. It was like a large brick structure shaped like a house sized termite mound with jagged edges...almost like a primitive step pyramid. Inside I found it to be very crowded....perhaps with other sleepers, but I'll get to that later.
We entered a chamber and the man and woman went through a tunnel filled with books. I asked one of the assistants to remove a few books because I couldn't fit through. It was nothing more than a crawlspace. we entered I followed them into a courtyard that was ancient middle eastern in origin, and filled with images and symbols I was unfamiliar with. (The event of me seeing this is what lead me to a search here on Abrahadabra for M1thr0s's writings.) I saw the man standing in front of a figure, recieving a medal or amulet of some kind. I was too busy examining my surroundings to assess what the ceremony was about.
I found myself in the parking lot again with the man and the woman. I don't recall his exact words, now, but he said something to the effect of "You performed flawlessly."
We moved on to another entry. As I exited, I found myself in a colorful temple courtyard, one filled with grass and bright objects of some kind. Egyptian hieroglyphics were painted on the walls. Of note were some eyes of Ra. They were painted on the wall but moved as if they were alive, and they were all watching me. I squinted at them suspiciously, and we were quickly moved to the next room. Before entering, I turned to the woman and asked her about her beliefs, and if she agreed with the man. She said "No, not really. I just follow him." I felt myself encouraging her silently to feel a sense of loathing for his belief, my trickster spirit wanting to stir up trouble within the perfect order of this place. As I watched the man, a priest recited some impressive words that had to do with granting him dignitas. The temple here was very beautiful and pleasant feeling.
The next chamber was also a temple of sorts, but...it was also a mall. A great big mall full of alternative people of varying sorts...from hippies to goths. In it was for sale just about anything you could want. I went straight for the one item I knew would get me in trouble, abandoning my two guides. It was an item both of these people hated. I felt the need to rebel against the people posing unwarranted authority over me. Oazaki will know what I am talking about here, as will many others. (I'm the picture of lawfulness and charm when a polite policeman or policewoman stops me, just as an aside...) The man and the woman I didn't see again. Suddenly as I was about to bite into a huge mouthful of gouda cheese, for some reason, Greg (TheTengu) grabbed my arm and said "Let's get out of here."
I woke up, feeling a weird sense of admiration of the accomplishments of the man and a sense of relaxation, the kind you get after a thrilling movie or a lucid dream like this. Something wasn't right. I reflected on the words I had heard from that magician years ago and knew I had just been the target of a mass glamour spell meant to garner favor from a crowd of people. Whether I had been singled out or was merely viewing a stream of a preprogrammed spell unfolding, I do not know. Each symbolic motion in the dream felt like a ritual, like someone weaving an illusion through a pattern. As soon as I questioned my feelings the spell was broken and I regained my true feelings of the man and woman...not friendship or awe, as I was experiencing before, but that of distant geniality and equal respect.
The first temple was designed to make me regard the man as knowledgeable. The second temple was designed to make me regard the man as beautiful. The third was meant to regard him as popular and charismatic.
I thought it was well done and thought I should share it, though not the name of the person, because I do happen to like the individuals, whether or not they are being gauche with their magical practice. :mcool:
Has anyone else had some foreign dreams in their life?
