The practice of Assuming Godforms is something which I find to be a quite useful skill in a Magickian's repertoire and find particularly useful from an Alchemical perspective (although I am by far not well-versed in Alchemy).

I intend for this thread to be used to discuss methods, effects of, and anything related to the Assumption of Godforms.

From my own experiences, one can use Assumption to cause alterations in oneself and one's magical body that can last for a variable amount of time but leave definite impressions which can help us. I have used it personally to help instill appreciation for certain virtues, vices, and skills as well as to boost my magical efficacy in certain areas temporarily. What have you guys done?

I have typically used the Assumption of Godforms to ascertain the hidden knowledge locked up in their symbolisms.

Case in point...so along comes some godform who calls himself RaHoorKhut asserting a symbolism he calls Abrahadabra. Well...what the hell has Abrahadabra got to do with RaHoorKhut? History cannot provide the answer since all we really know about Abrahadabra leads us back to the early Gnostics and there the well runs dry. We have no actual evidence at all that it had anything to do with the Egyptian RaHoorKhut. How then may we proceed to attempt to solve this mystery?

One solution is to attempt to actually climb right into the mind of RaHoorKhut and look at it through his own eyes! This is a dangerous thing to do..we must be very careful here and we must not allow assumptions to be the determiner of conclusions, but still, if we play our cards right...we may gleen vital clues...And indeed I have gleened vital clues doing just exactly this...

So that's just one example. I have repeated this process many times in all kinds of other ways...

But I'll tell you one thing I have learned...virtually everything you'll find in print regarding the assumption of godforms is bullshit. Not complete 100% unadulterated lies or anything...just vague approximations that don't really tell you how to do the dance itself...and it is a kind of dance...a kind of "wooing" if you will...

I've found that to be true as well; almost as if the standard instructions could help to get you in there, but then what the hell are you supposed to do once you're driving? The assumption can easily fall into a channelling, and that's not what we want at all.

(I'm sorry if this sounds off topic, but have you seen Being John Malcovich? The difference between just 'seeing' out the eyes and actually controlling the vessel)

I still tend to use god forms for either absorbing the god's energy/attributes into myself, or as a form of authority in astral work.
