I'm not much of a sportster, but I've always
likened playing sports to performing music...

One practices alone to develop technique, and then
rehearses with the group on the teamweaving...

Finally, they perform the event (w/lights, sweat, crowd, adrenalin)...

I guess in the video, we were more or less
witnessing the technique development stage...

It just seemed at first glance to be weirdly regimented...
