I think I have the flu - or some other seasonal plague. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make it go away faster? I've been eating vitamin C like candy, which doesn't do much I know but still makes me feel like I'm doing something to get rid of it.

Zinc tablets always seem to really help me...
Vitamin C is highly overrated...most of it just passes right through your system anyway...
the body doesn't really need that much C...it's all a marketing hype.

Yeah... the C is kind of a waste of money. Especially when you snack on it. At least they taste good.
So... zinc, echinaecia, and Nosferatu.

Hi Lucian,
I'm sorry to hear this! however, I would have to say that if you want to approach your health from a holistic perspective, it is both slow and systemic, you dont pop one pill as in allopathic medicne and bang, it's all better. So in other words, taking anything singularly like zinc won't actually help a whole lot unless the underlying problem is zinc deficiency.
Before I go on a health rant I'd ask a few more questions. You say you feel flu-like..but this could be any number of thinsg from your thyroid or other hormones to stress to a digestive issue affecting otehr systems. What's your overall diet like? Exercise? Stress levels? how long have you felt unwell?
In my opinion, large doses of Ester-C with bioflavonoids can be helpful for certian conditions and especially if taken at intervals throughout the day. But it isn't the panacea we once thought it was. If you can tell us more about your overall health status and stress levels I'd feel better able to comment. Generally I like to clean up people's diets, add fatty acids, probiotics and super green foods, and add some de-stressing techniques. When did you last have a full physical?
Sorry if this is too much detail but I can't offer what I think of as sound advice without a fuller picture.

Water, sleep and stay away from white flour and sugar.
Vitamin C is important to take daily because your body won't store it. Taking extra in one day probably won't do much though except give you diarrhea. I would limit it to about two pills a day. It is a very important vitamin and is essential for life itself. So no, you didn't waste your money.
I had the flu for the past two days and just took garlic and have been drinking more and sleeping more.
