Poems in which what is said
Is said in such a way
They refer to nothing other than
The way in which it’s said
Are poems in which what is said
Is said in such a way
They refer to nothing other than
The poems in my head.
But poems in which how what’s said
Is what is in my head
Always seem to say a little more
Whenever they are read,
Aloud,
Whenever that might be,
‘cause, you see, the way in which
I read refers to me.
But, then again, the reading me
Is read in such a way
That what I said is in my head
Is not the way I write
‘cause, even though the way in which
I write is what is read,
The way in which it’s written
Never feels like getting head.
