Several times lately I've had this urge to send another member a special book - just now looked at the What Are You Reading thread and thought of one in particular - so here's the idea for this thread.
If you were going to suggest a book for another member here, soemthing you think they would benefit from or just enjoy, what would it be, and why? Serious or funny suggestions welcomed.
Here's my list so far:
Naomi: Food and Healing*, by AnneMarie Colbin, because it's just so sensible on the subject of diet, and we've been talking about natural health a lot lately.
Nalyd: The Tao of Pooh*...just felt right
Rays: Pilgrim at Tinker Creek* - just because I love this book so much and would like to see if T did, too
Chaka: possibly a book of Man Ray photographs or Erte prints, something visually sumptuous and a little decadent too
Yset: Isis Magic* by Isadora Forrest - you NEED this book!
Nuhad: The Fifth Sacred Thing* by Starhawk, because I'm a closet sadist:laugh:
Oh and maybe Julie Sahni or Madhur Jaffrey on Indian cooking, since he loves to cook and does a lot of curry (I do have a nice side too)
Thinking up books for others here should be a fun challenge - what do you send the man who has read everything (m1thr0s) for example? hitman, Sibylle, Kain and everyone- I'll think about this!
Oh and btw - don't tihnk you can find a dog book I havent read - lol, I DARE you...

I am not good at 'presents' and don't read much so I am excusing myself of finding books, but I love the dragon one - thanks Yset.
Fera, the Annie Dillard looks down to earth and interesting, well looking at the excerpt on 'that famous online book store' lol

Yset: keep trying, girlfriend. I mean it - you find one, I'll admit it but unless it's a goofy out- of- print training manual or a total introductory book I've probably got it or at least read some of it online. I even buy very introductory books so I can see what people are being indoctrinated with.
Now I can't say I have every BREED book per se - I mean if you find something like "Raising Polish Lowland Sheepdogs on a Budget" I probably haven't read it - so I guess I mean beavhiour, nutrition, natural health - breeding isnt my thing, and I'm also really into sighthounds so breed books outside of that group I probably dont have.
Now bear in mind..I DO have other interests..sort of...lol

For you fera - The Sirius Mystery* by Robert K. G. Temple... hey it's the DOG star! For Rays - What I Did in My Holidays: Essays on Black Magic, Satanism, Devil Worship and Other Niceties* by Ramsey Dukes... hmmm, I just think you might get a kick out of it. For m1thr0s - The Philosophy of "As If"* by Hans Vaihinger... because I suggested it to you before and I have a feeling you still haven't checked it out. :) I'll have to browse this site some more to see who else I know before I list any other names here.

Yset, the Gluten free cookbook sounds great and I'd bet TalkingFox would like it as well...
I'm adding Mystical Qabalah* to Rays list, I'd like to get feedback from her once she's read it...

WTF!? Good gods how many times must I read that horrible thing. I actually bought it again last year with a gift certificate...I couldn't make it past the first three pages...so painful.
As for curry I prefer to talk to Indian people :-) but I will look into them lol
