I know we all have mastered the basics as far as psychic cleansing goes, but I'd like to take this a step further and look at a few issues in clearing out energy.

And since this is a Witchcraft topic I'm not going to refer to LBRP ect, I'd like to be a tightass here and focus on Low Magic techniques.

First of all - what raises this for me is a Witch friend of mine who recently visited with me and borught her highly empathic but untrained friend - and the friend could hardly stand the sad energy in here, related to my dog who recently died unexpectedly. Now I'm pretty empathic but I only feel the sadness in specific areas of the house- in other areas, I feel a comforting presence. I don't want to banish or even smudge lest I lose the contact - but I've been advised repeatedly to deal with the house energy. The empath feels it's aeffecting my senior dog who is still grieivng deeply - and that if the house isn't cleared we may end up with a haunting, which of course isn't what i mean when I say I want to keep the contact.

What concerns me is this;

1) How can we clear out *just* the sorrowful energies and be assured the positive ones won't be banished as well? In past I've cleaned out houses and alwasy felt the space reduced to neutrality - I'm not sure I want that here...

2) My friend insists I can't be the one to clear the house or even participate in the ritual since I am still hanging on to Luke...what do you think?

3) Does anyone have any feng shui or otherwise practical suggestions for how I can materially continue to effect the energy shift? Move furniture, hang mirrors, add plants?

Just like to open a disucssion using my particular situation but any technical input, howpeople like to cleanse banish etc is welcome.

new stuff helps sometimes...new music...new alter gear...new plants...new smells (incenses etc). emphasizing the new encourages everything and everybody to look towards the future. It's ok to carry the past with you...but you need to be going somewhere or it all gets terribly heavy...

I might be inclined to see if there is a pattern to the comforting and the sorrowful areas. FOr instance, are the comfort areas all the ones where you did things for the loved one like prepare food or laid a dog rest area or similar or are they where you played and had fun? etc etc.

I think maybe you need to start there first to see whats what.

Hi Rays...I dont think its so much about a place since everywhere I was, Luke was too. And I don't think the clearance is *only* about Luke, this house is 100 years old and when I moved in I was grieving my brother and didn't clear very well at all...so a lot of energy here..much of it unhappy.
I did find the bedroom excruciating for a long time since it was always our "den" - when my partner and I were breaking up and things weren't good, I could always escape there with the dogs and my books... However since I got the puppy, the energy in there is more bittersweet. I don't think the triggers are so much about a place as things like certain songs...the stairs are hard too as he always schelpped up in front of me and then paused for a "ridgekiss"...one little ritual of so many.

I think it's more times and activities that trigger negative feelings, although I baked all day today and Danny watched me the whole time just like Luke always did. I was actually laughing because Luke's expression was usually like he was trying to vibe me into hurrying, and Danny's is all wide eyed and Oh WOW this is so COOL, sort of bewildered and happy at the same time.

But you know I may just do some small rituals at his favourite places - and, of course, where he collpased that night, that's a difficult spot now Im making myself think about it.

Again though this isn't all about Luke nor does the thread have to focus on me per se...I was thinking of starting a sort of Back to Basics series, looking at grounding, casting, earthing energy and so on..IF the interest is here that is.

Great ideas too m1thr0s - new music! Yes indeed...and looking forward. Aside from new "stuff" there are new rituals and changing the way we do things abit...that can help gently move forward, too...

Thank you both...

You know, that's a really good question. Generally I dont clear the house aside from once, immediately after I move in, and again when I move out.

And I usually do it in a couple different ways. I not only smudge, but also cast protective pentagrams above the windows and doorways, and in this place there are entirely too many... ;)

2) My friend insists I can't be the one to clear the house or even participate in the ritual since I am still hanging on to Luke...what do you think?

I agree with your friend on this one...

The only bit of feng shui I know tells you to place mirrors on the wall opposite the entry doors of the house to keep the negativity out...

A suggestion you had mentioned was smudging, and that it had only brought about a neutrality... I suggest that you break it down a bit and cleanse only those negative spaces in the home... To personalize it for yourself...

Well if I need help I call out to Raven (Txamsem, among other names) and say "Hey can you clear the room for me?" but only if I am having trouble. There's lots of friends out there I can ask for help.

I imagine you have your own people to call....

That is usually good for a quick fix if you can't do it on your own.

Then, decluttering and giving away stuff is also good.

When some tribes had a loss, the family would have a give away. They would give away stuff until it hurt. It was like a sacrifice and a way of clearing away the old.
