A powerful performance, SJ.
Reminds me of the Pow Wows my mother took me too as a child.
The drumming natives do is on one drum with many drummers, while the Japanese drum with a drum for each performer.
Listening too it brought back some memories and evoked images that are too complex to put into words. Music is like a transcendental experience and drums like that take you right out into the land of Tiamat.
When I was little I used to sing the Apache devil dance song. Well that's the label for it on the library catalogue. It's actually the song of the Gan dancers and was named "Devil Dance" by the european immigrants. So I was already summoning thunderbeings at age seven WOWIE WOOPS.
Might find that interesting, eh Sebastian?

Magic is good for fighting in the same way that driving gloves are good for driving a car.
Can you drive (fight) without using driving gloves (magic)? Hell yes.
Can you drive (fight) using just driving gloves (magic)? Hell no.
Can you drive (fight) better using driving gloves (magic)? I guess. :dunno:

hmm dont know if I agree with you on the radicality of that comparison, but if you make those gloves into internalized driving upgrades (via shugyo etc) that could also at times be used as handgrenades we're getting there..lol

"to fit in with the hippies"...I have my hair a bit longer now, need to get a haircut...another fun thing in those songs apart from the English pronounciation is the use of completely wrong German in the titles, maybe CCD can enjoy that, too...yeah it looks a bit like shojo ("girls") manga but its actually not, its quite for the boys too cause basically its all war stories and cetera, the animation is a bit dated now...but yeah Reinhards one of the few characs who has long hair, maybe has to do something with his commanding position, his best chum Kircheis has short red hair...(Germanic/tribal) noblemen had traditionally long hair too as a sign of their status freedom, just as serfs had short hair...we have still a local word for "redneck coming from the countryside" that translates as: "sheared one"....cf. also Samson ;) (blah...)

OH GOD! That reminds me! Erishikigal=Amaterasu!
Wow she sure knows how to do Japanese, doesn't she?
I watched an excellent little children's video I checked out at the library this morning on Ancient Mesopotamia. The Babylonians were complete idiots, but there was this one king who defeated the corrupt rulers there and brought an end to the dynasty. Does it seem to you that the easterners (the Assyrians) were just as stupid as the westerners (The Babylonians)?
Lagash was beautiful, as was Ur...much more peaceful and artistic. But War is beautiful too. The thing that got me about Babylon is how their Kings loved killing lions, and regarded lions as a depiction of their enemy. The last king who defeated Babylon, forget his name - I noted during that brief explanation that there's a pair of lion statues facing Babylon , seated on top of prostrate humans, either fucking them or maybe just killing them, either way they looked happy.
But hey you know, with Erishikigal you could say she's inside alla the girls to some extent. And the guys when she manages to use them as her meat puppets.

I think the whole outtake of the Babylonians wasnt that cool- mythologically speaking- all those "hero" stories (marduk and even apsu kingu and tiamat VS enlil, the great prince lord Enki, ninazu ianna (shout out) nergal and eresh at that, oh yeah of course an and ki and primal chaos nammu too)...the old sumer gods were permeated by another light somehow- they were not making such a fuss about everything...look at Inanna when she goes to her sister Ereshkigal in the underworld, menaing that she willingly died and wanted to pester Ereshkigal a bit was fishing for compliments with her glories and divine laws (her mei), but still willingly she died..it was just more real...Of course the Assyrians were completely hardcore they were utterly merciless, very good warriors..
I miss the times of Sumer, old Nippur must also have been great- when gods rode dragons and people killed one another in good spirit, but it was all more light hearted...but this time here now is much better than the babylon time was..we are blessed with this our time- even though its cruel and cunning too, or just because...also the Japanese have kept some of the tradition intact like the old word for the highest heaven called takamagahara http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takamagahara (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takamagahara) that is the residence of the Amatsukami, the sky gods, highest of them being eg Ameno minakanushi and the first gen. with izanami etc and Amaterasu, too...

Nice, yeah I saw today that when a king died several dozen servants drank the equivalent of poisoned kool-aid and laid down peacefully to die in the tomb. How's that for being laid back about death? This was in Assyria, I think, or perhaps it was in the southwest.
Nice, Takamagahara, is that the word we were looking for when we came up with Tamagahane out of (seemingly) thin air?
Yes the Assyrians were quite ruthless. Nice art too though...

You plan to clone a 1000 of Mugen/Sonics or you plan to clone many in a thousand years?
As consorts - you mean as a form of sexual servants for the rich? Being a limited edition of course.
And templates - these would eventually be made fertile and disseminated into the general populace as a sort of genetic upgrade?
Or have I missed your meaning by a reality or two?

I like Scientology, it's damned funny and imaginative, I think people should have a right to believe whatever they want especially if they're trying to do positive things for everyone and not forcing their beliefs on others.
Scientologists are ok by me, I like their ability to band together under shared feelings and values despite immense odds, without being violent and abusive.
I also like their stances on certain issues, such as psychology.
No one is right all the time but I think the essence of Scientology is a positive one that addresses a certain crowd in a beneficial way.
Though I remain a Satanist to the core....:D

well gee..now i got another author that i need to get a book from...i think he'll fit comfortably next to my carl jung books...
He certainly would, I'd say. Jung is Swiss and Heidegger comes from Freiburg im Breisgau in the Schwarzwald/ near Switzerland..now Paracelsus also comes from that region, and if I was an occultist I would even suppose some sort of power centre round there, like I do for Seatle, WA in modern times :p
No, but I myself also have to read his magnum opus yet, have read two smaller books by him, though and they are- I must admit- not all that easily understandable but yet still somehow consciousness-changing. He has in my view still- by this subtle influence- affected modern thinking in a very prominent way: meaning that even "normal" uneducated ppl (in the West) are heavily directed by his thoughts....I personally am of the opinion that this, yes, this very site and paradigm here has also this potenial...hope you dont think me crazy (like some of my friends and colleagues ;)), but its not a question of believe for me after all...and neither is philosophy or "alchemical" projection, its very real and its about to arise here in the West as in the world as a whole...
m1thr0s
02-24-2008, 01:32 AM
cool...I like being able to watch him speak. He is a lot more fragile that I had imagined him...a fragility he compensates for with profound caution...I can see him triple-checking himself even as he speaks...this combination is very compelling in a philosopher...not arrogant and cock-sure of himself at all but rather deeply committed to his quest...the quest of *right thinking* I think, which has led him painstakingly to those first assumptions often completely overlooked in western philosophy...core assumptions of being that run so deep that very few have ever observed them clearly.
more please...lol...

There was one 9 part doku from German TV about Heidegger on youtube that was only subtitiled in Italian...other than that I also only could give the links that are connected to the one I posted...
Yes thats my impression, too: he weighed his words very well, it seems. I visited a lecture by one of his students (a very humble yet intelligent and helpful prof. himself [about the theory of science focused on Heidegger, Dilthey and also Benjamin etc) and he told me that Heidegger was an incredibly good lecturer...which doesnt come out to that amount in the vid as well I think- maybe the "live" being taught-experience yet added another layer to it still...I would have liked to listen to him, too...the next thing Im planning to read by him is his poetical theory with a focus on Hölderlin (since latter is also one of my favourite poets)...

It's curious you notice recordings are more important in their heyday of discovery than they are now...there's a lot of nobodies using the medium for the most banal crap but real intellectuals have backed off of radio, film, audio recordings, etc. I bet if Crowley lived today we wouldn't have voice recordings of him...
I need to start recording my voice I get the weirdest ideas that vanish suddenly before I can write them down...You know they're like notebooks you carry in your pocket, except electronic and for voice...
Kuroyagi
03-01-2008, 08:39 PM
Yes, that prof. also told me that in the late 1950s when Heidegger visited our Alma Mater (Vienna) the lecture rooms where stack full of onlookers (Heidegger had acquired some popular fame then, already) and that there were many press ppl. and ppl. who didnt know anyhting about the subject present who simply only wanted to get a glimpse of the man himself...yeah thats an ubiqutous phenomenon I guess...
On a side note: that lecture about the theory of science was one of the most intellectually challenging ones I ever attended. I had originally planned to try it out as a test for myself about how much of it I would understand...(not all, but enough I'd say, or to be honest: all if I only concentrated: the shortcomings of air element that I mentioned earlier came out here and there)...there were also a couple of quite interesting students there btw: most notably: one who was obviously meditating (breathing deeply) and pulling his legs up to his seat and a funny one who was not writing with a pen but a feather and ink...but fortunately no sychophants/ppl who were there for the show only, were there since the prof isnt well known (yet?) beyond academic/philosophical circles..lol.

MINOR THREAT - In My Eyes
You tell me you like the taste
You just need an excuse
You tell me it calms your nerves
You just think it looks cool
You tell me you want to be different
You just change for the same
You tell me it's only natural
You just need the proof
Did you fucking get it?
IT'S IN MY EYES
AND IT DOESN'T LOOK THAT WAY TO ME
IN MY EYES
You tell me that nothing matters
You're just fucking scared
You tell me that I'm better
You just hate yourself
You tell me that you like her
You just wish you did
You tell me that I make no difference
At least I'm fuckin' trying
What the fuck have you done?
IT'S IN MY EYES
AND IT DOESN'T LOOK THAT WAY TO ME

Yeah Jim Morrison is probably one of the coolest guys ever....
I was like, really high one night, not on any substance just on one of my chaos magick benders and I told my mom "I WAS JIM MORRISON" and she goes "OH yeah really, man i had a huge crush on him when I was a teenager, pleased to make your aquaintance"
morphogenetic fields, idk wot...it's in the music...not all music, but some....anyways too many Doors songs to post really...

No shit!? I love that song too, actually that's like the first song I ever really liked. I remember being 7 or 8 years old singing Paint It Black in like the third grade, that song just hit me, and I didn't get into music really until I was 17. Very good song, I love Brian Jones' sitar work in that one. Here's another favorite of mine:
YouTube - Play With Fire (1965) by The Rolling Stones
I'm not really into the Rolling Stones that much after Brian Jones left. He was a musical genius and pretty wicked too. Check out Ruby Tuesday by the Stones to hear some awesome recorder work by Jones. Here:

Thanks...apart from some very reduced "business" (should take us only a couple of hours); I'll definitely look by the gallery/Pinakothek and/or go to some palaces of crazy king Ludwig (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludwig_II_of_Bavaria)- then get me a couple of beers and Weißwurst and maybe put in some shopping for antiques, books or clothes- am only there for Sunday and Monday...
Ok so On-topic:

this was incredible. I had played this game and given the name of my then gf to this character called Aerith obviously, it was so sad when she died...didnt even remember the name of the main chara till some recent years when the young ones rediscovered this game...I had given "Cloud" the name of "Han" naturally...its strange that I played this in the first place since I nearly never play such games...it was a coincidence then- maybe in some way I intuited its import on the consciousness-pool...over the many millenia one learns to get a feeling for such things.

For those of you who like songs about tabloid occultism and enjoy listening to PAINFULLY slow tempos:
YouTube - Ozzy Osbourne - Mr. Crowley
I feel awful for Randy Rhoads who had to play his solo at that speed. Believe me, playing a solo like that slowly can be much more difficult than playing it at normal speed.
PS MythMath, that Meat Puppets song is awesome. I've heard of them before through listening to Nirvana Unplugged but never any of their songs. Thanks for the heads up. Kuroyagi and Naomi, I'm waiting for your videos to load up. My internet is working like shit. It's even taking like 20 seconds for this site to load up and it took like one second two days ago...

Sorry to hear that, maybe someone is stealing your bandwidth, Robin S is cool house music though, a real classic, she has an awesome voice. I used to like the Mr. crowley song a long time ago. Not so much anymore. I love these lyrics:
YouTube - Haujobb, The Noise Instititute, Seattle 09.07.07
I broke the silence
I rose the volume
Hunted the hunters and nobody cared
I lost relation to
Where I stand
I hope the ceiling is
Breakable
I am free of noize
I am free of noize
Come on, robot, wake up
Robots don't sleep
I solved a problem
I blew all brains
Out of the event horizon
I lost relation to
Where I am
I hope the lenses are
Switchable
I am free of noize
I am free of noize
Come on, robot, wake up
I don't need to sleep
